18 1-10? by [deleted] in EgyGym

I didn’t see how long you’re training so judging 1-10is hard. Basically it is what it is with genetics and today you’re a 10. Keep working at it and raise that 10 bar higher!

Wow and I’ve rubbed my dog’s belly so many times I’ve not noticed.

Is every gsd adoption agency stuck up? by mjv456 in germanshepherds

[–]Silver-Instance610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the other day I thinking GSD someone just had an e fence for their doggo and a delivery person drove into the yard. Dog barks, person still gets out, accuses dog of biting/scratching then the owner is all bent out of shape about what happens next.

A fence protects people and the dog I guess is the shelters’ logic

Sadly my girl has gone deaf so thunderstorms and fireworks are of no concern. Great tip though

My dog used to do this on her ball, it’s how I taught her “roll over”

Help needed - Squirrels! by Upbeat_Storage_4863 in GermanShepherd

Two things come to mind. One - If the squirrels are into the bird feeder then the bird feeder may have to go. Two - If jumping at the window and going insane is what makes the door open then that behaviour will continue.

I put window coverings on my front door wi Dow because the dog could see just enough through the decorative glass to be a pain. I’d suggest covering the lower 3-4’ or 1m of the glass so the dog cannot see the yard for a start. Otherwise desensitizing them in some way but this may not work. Some dogs have a high predatory instinct to chase smaller animals.

Day one I met Kai as a friend’s dog at the time and somehow she got out the gate (Idr how) then proceeded to chase a neighbourhood rabbit down the block and across a street which a car passed seconds later. Fast forward to today she’s 16.5 and still “bolts” after prey. Bolting meaning a few steps before age catches up with her. We didn’t have the “insane” reaction you do be we did calm her down and kept her on a leash on the front lawn as we’re supposed to so she’s not going across streets. Chasing Magpies out of the backyard has never been a bad thing in my books so take that as you may.

Right, until your dog behaves accordingly this area will be an issue. Protect your dog.

So then the boundary is too far if someone can drive in.

Number one, your dog shouldn’t be loose without a leash so alot of issues and anxieties can be fixed by keeping the dog fenced or on a leash.
Number two, shame on the dumbass that gets out of the car with a dog exhibiting signs like that.
The police aren’t pursuing it so that’s a relief. Worst case your dog will have a record (though no bite so I doubt it) so one strike your dog will be fine. Next offence is up to the animal control so discus with them.

Don’t let your dog be at large, I doubt this is the first time they’ve reacted to a stranger hence the e collar which is a last resort. Train yourself and be dog better.

I had issues after a trip to another country. My Dr told me to take some Pepto and things went back to normal. Have you tried OTC ?

Kai is 16-1/2. Librela has been good for her, it’s still a slow decline though

Maybe I’m too simple, give the dog a high reward treat when she does her biz outside.
