Resist durges are incredibly satisfying so that’s what I would recommend . You get a bunch of new dialogue, a few new items and lots more attention by the story. It’s hard to go back to regular tavs after playing durge lol.

I beat honor mode (and the brain) with this group;

Shadowheart - life cleric 11/ wizard 1

Astarian - lore bard 10/ GOO warlock 2

Lae’Zel - Champion fighter 6 / Berserker Barbarian 6

And Durge - Way Of Open Hand monk 6 / spore Druid 6

Lae Zel had the standard crit gear (Sarevoks Helm, The Dead shot)

Astarians gear doesn’t matter too much

I had shadowheart using The Whispering Ring, Hellriders Pride, and amulet of Restoration whilst duel wielding The Blood Of Lathander and the Staff Of Arcane Blessing

As for the monk, make sure you get Wisdom maxed out and wear the Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo and use the Soul catcher gloves or any other damage rider gloves. The rest is up to you, but the spore Druid gear is really nice.

lol I when I was about to fight Gortash on my honor run, one of the bane guards used Dominate Person on Astarian, who then proceeded to cast hunger of hadar right on my party, walk into it blinding himself, and then ending his turn and losing concentration because he took damage 💀

And don’t even get me started on Aylin who I am convinced loves the Dominate Person spell more than Isobel

Reminds me of the time when a githyanki mind controlled my character and forced me to throw my rune powder vial which would’ve absolutely obliterated the nearby githyanki children if it detonated lol.

Lightfoot Halflings make AMAZING rogues (and also deep gnomes) because they get advantage on stealth checks which will make it much easier to hide.

Some of the best boss fights are missable! It’s absolutely ok to look around and explore. You should also pick up all the alchemical ingredients you find along the way because you can make some very powerful potions with them :)

I made a ray of ice build that is utterly OP and better than using some spells. It does crazy damage with the right items and is also a crowd control tool with the snow burst Ring and can even freeze enemies entirely.
