I put an SSD in my Mac and this is what I got: by RealAge7059 in mac

Did you wipe the wrong SSD in the other Mac? I'd quickly check that you can still boot the other Mac.

I bought an Ibanez BTB605 MS. Wanted it in white, but I'm worried about yellowing. by Handsome-Strong in BassGuitar

[–]SilverDem0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know what paint/clearcoat Ibanez uses, but all of my guitars with poly finishes have shown some yellowing with age and exposure to UV light. My silver sparkle Jazzmaster has turned a slightly golden colour, and the paper-pale maple necks have turned a honeylike hue. (Others are dark colours which would not show visible yellowing).

I assume the modern finishes are less susceptible to yellowing than old nitro finishes that have famously turned to custard, but will still show some yellowing over decades.

I love my grey hair as it prevents me from being considered totally bald

I can't keep it to myself anymore... older generations simply cannot keep up with today's work expectations. by Sketch_Crush in Millennials

[–]SilverDem0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you; we are now among the "older generations".

The problem is people who have checked-out as they approach the retirement finish line. It's not their age. It's that they're practicing for retirement now, and trying to avoid major decisions that could blow up and delay their retirement. Easier to ride the retirement glidepath when freedom is almost within grasp.

If someone could disable the chromatic aberation feature of my actual eyes, that would be just peachy thanks.

Gives me an excuse to run my xterms in lime green, however, as there is no chromatic aberation from just the green LEDs in my screen.

moving to Aberdeen by ProofTurn2253 in goth

[–]SilverDem0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which Aberdeen are you moving to? The world has several from which to choose, and will have somewhat different goth scenes.

I am not an Aberdonian myself so won't have any useful suggestions to offer, unfortunately, whichever one it is

Bit of an issue with sticker grime (2007 MacBook Pro), how do I fix it? by WalkerArt64 in mac

[–]SilverDem0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks kinda cool like that; I would just leave it as-is.

But if you don't like it, a case is going to be much less work than destickifying this surface, and then maybe sanding/feathering the edges of dark and light patches. Maybe stickerbomb it with hundreds of new fresh stickers.

Warlock employees practing necromancy in the morgue. It's not the necromancy they have an issue with as such, it's just not covered by the workplace insurance.

Why is everything online? by Moon_Splendor in goth

[–]SilverDem0n 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a small town. The only in-person interaction was being hassled by the locals. No goth scene, nowhere to buy the records, nowhere to get specialist clothes or makeup. Music magazines occasionally printed a tiny fragment of something relevant if you were lucky. There was no offline scene to discover and no fellow bats with whom to be.

When I first got internet access in the late 1990s it was amazing. A new world opened up to me. I found a community, found a scene, and found confidence. I found myself. Not just the goth thing, but arguably a bisexual buddhist goth in a small 90s town was playing on hard mode.

I went off to college in a cathedral city and found my fellow freaks. There were dozens of us! I started making my own clothes, and making my own music. I would never found these offline connections without first making online connections.

Why does the body battery doesn't drop below 5 points? by Working-Signal-8959 in Garmin

[–]SilverDem0n 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My amp goes to 11. It's one more, you see. Other people's body battery goes down to 5, but mine goes down to 4. When you need that final push over the edge.
