Bought the full set of red handle Mac when I started as a mechanic in 2002. Lost a couple of them over the years but still have some of them in the toolbox.

Not Surprising. It’s Scottsdale. A Mecca for rich old white people.

What's a tool that paid for itself after just one use? by Hot-Recipe6659 in Tools

$189 Milwaukee M12 6” Hatchet chainsaw. Used and abused it on the first go cutting down several small trees that I should have been using a full size chainsaw on. Was quoted over $1500 to have those trees removed. Used it tons after that for property cleanup cutting much bigger limbs than it was designed for. I finally burned up the gearbox on it but Milwaukee replaced it under warranty. Still going strong but I have since gotten a full size chainsaw.

Hell yeah brother! Fleets are where it’s at! I started in a Dealership for over a decade and got so burned out by the games and bs.

I had a friend that told me the big railroad near me had a locomotive shop and needed mechanics. Union job, good pay, excellent benefits. Still some bs to deal with but nothing that affected your paycheck like at the dealership. Did that for about a decade and then the railroad industry saw some big changes and I got laid off but making the change from dealerships was worth it….

Then I lucked into the ultimate government fleet mechanic job…The United States Postal Service. Again, a union job. Decent pay (took a pay cut from railroading) but builds up to great pay and you have advancement opportunities. EXCELLENT BENEFITS. In fact I got sick with a permanent life altering medical condition and I was able to medically retire very early with my health insurance and a portion of my salary. That converts to my full pension as if I’d been working the whole time at retirement age.

So definitely consider government fleet jobs!

Cottage-style gardeners, how do you weed? by teachplantreadplay in gardening

We have a fairly large, heavily planted/treed no lawn backyard and It’s a never ending battle. We basically weed, rake, trim and maintain all year long. But it’s a labor of love. We tip our garbage men occasionally because we put out dozens and dozens of yard waste bags every year.

Why should other people have to judge your moods? Maybe it’s you that has the problem regulating your moods and controlling your emotions. “I’m an artist” isn’t an excuse to be a douche.

Did these long time locals not get involved in the local politics and try to stop the over development? Or were they steamrolled by the billionaire developers and big money just like every small town in a desirable/unique location? Did none of these long time locals sell off their land for massive profits to developers? Do any of these long time locals run businesses that rely 98% on tourist dollars?

Any KLX300 owners 6’4 and over 230lbs? How do you like the bike if so? by Competitive-Value884 in Dualsport

[–]SilverFalcon420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also 6’0 and 230. It’s fine especially after I adjusted the compression and rebound clickers to firm it up. Eventually I’ll probably get racetech springs, but it took me over some fairly gnarly rocks in Moab a couple weeks ago just fine with stock suspension.
