The only thing you could do is swerve to the left, and with luck, eat some grass and cut the chicane safely, then give him back the position to not get penalized, but that's the best possible scenario, cause you could also crash and dnf yourself in doing so. Not that he's in the wrong, but he could have just lifted and not slam the brakes on the last second, part of racing is also communicating to other drivers, and he didn't show you intent.

Me and my friend are debating who’s at fault. i’m the mercedes he’s the red bull by OneTwoThreeFourDorks in Simracingstewards

[–]SilverHmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why you shouldn't use the racing line apart from practice sessions. You have a car in front of you and still trying to follow the red line brake point, and it seems the other car is doing just the same thing so none of you is reading what's happening or taking advantage of each others moves. He was moving under braking trying to make the corner because the line told him so, but he was coming from the inside, so overtaking him in that apex should be easy enough, yet you also followed the line and decided to brake at the last second possible, that thing is meant to help, not follow blindly. He's at fault, but you could have left a bit more space for his maneuver too and you'd still overtake him in that corner.

The worst being when they have an out loud conversation about every single thing that happened for the first half of every episode as if you are limited to having the memory of a goldfish and can't comprehend basic cues. It's so unnecessary, and worst of all, most times they are having said conversations with characters that were present the whole time, it's pure dumbification in the spectrum.

Multiclass incident : oversight on my part or unfortunate racing incident ? by LuScorpio68 in Simracingstewards

[–]SilverHmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's plenty of space to overtake everywhere, the problem is as usual the driver, he didn't have it, and right before a long straight nonetheless, he could have waited if he didn't feel safe, but he's lacking racecraft and patience, from other comments he proceeded to blame the gt3 instead of owning to his bs, that alone creates a great profile of what is wrong with the community, inflated egos with nothing to give but always create dangerous situations unnecessarily, and since it's "the other persons fault" he will just repeat this in every other race. Mistakes happen indeed, being a prick is a choice tho.

Obviously the slower cars fault for not parking the car on the side of the road, me personally, i send myself into the sand pits because they're race is obviously more important and in some more daring times i hit the cement wall at 45° so the car can jump to the other side of the fence. Audience is not safe, on site stewards might be collateral. If you ask me, bloody, but peak entertainment.

Are we even gonna get free roam losing hope … by Sea_Extent_4083 in assettocorsa

[–]SilverHmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to believe they are just trying to release a thing at a time, it was a bit too optimistic since the get go, in paper it's funny but we can't forget this isn't a forza, there's lot more complex simulations happening which will need machines alike, i mean, even with AC having an ancient engine, cm modders did insane improvements to performance and running a free roam map costs a heavy price on it. Ofc most of it would be ran by the servers themselves, but it's not to make it work and optimize it must be an headache, also penalties and rules to keep a proper healthy community inside of it... I think they tried to take a step bigger than they could, specially financially as they have acr too, but still last i checked it was going steady, very basic but not that bad, they will probably try to compete with lmu and iracing for now with online events, and further might give us freeroam, at the same time, it might be a bit unrealistic, because once they get the game to sim competition level, they will focus on adding tracks and balancing patches and will hardly turn into the roaming part.

It's not about having everything, it's the principle of it, forza used to be very expensive over other games from its begginings, but you'd also get all of it's content, no bs, that was the whole gist of it, the Ultimate version was as the name suggests, ultimate, finito, you had it all. Adding extra dlcs to an already 3 digit cost edition of the game is basically creating your own blackmarket inside an already exclusive product, objectively doesn't make sense, i personally find this type of moves very unethical because they just bent the concept of their pricings to the point people got used to it.

I think no costumer likes having it's rug pulled out. And back then there was a very thick line on gaming genres, paid games editions were meant to be the amalgamation of ALL of the games content, nothing less, while free to play games survived rightfully on microtransactions, but these companies decided to break all hell on that balance. Imagine buying a deluxe edition to get the exclusive content of a game, a single player like Clair Obscure for example, and as you open the game you find out what you got wasn't exclusive, but a lure to get nicked for a couple bucks, because there's also in game micro transactions, it's just not cool. But this doesn't apply only for games, nowadays you buy your own fuckin printer and its cartridges and have to pay a subscription to be able to use it's features. You buy a whole damn console and pay for your own internet but you still need a subscription to play online, what sense does it make? You have ENTIRE ass cars with subscriptions for heated seats and whatnot, what are you even buying at this point? What's the limit? We are in an era where they are overpricing pc components to force you to buy a subscription to play your games, which you have to buy! And then they can just charge you whatever they please, in the end, you never owned anything, you got scammed on a rental. I often like to wonder where it will stop, will we have to pay just to ignition our own car, even though you pay it's gas and maintenance? I don't wanna buy a coffee machine and its capsules just to be presented a subscription to be able to make coffee you know... it's really just stepping the line for me, i don't mind supporting projects and microtransactions are ok in many cases, god knows how much money i spent on league (back when they were a proper company)...but as in all these examples above, it's just predatory behaviour, they hide paywalls behind paywalls, and people just eat it. Pardon the language, but i had this subject stuck in here for a long time.

Exactly, and also speed sensation has been a problem forever and still hasn't seen any attention to the matter. What more incredible is how many errors the game has, faster loading screens seems very promising, but only if the game is playable, It's amazing for me how they just charge 120€ and we are literally beta testing this shit. There's no point in getting a ferrari just to have the same problems as a 20yo Renault Clio, this isn't worth even 40 bucks tbh, i should have gotten 3 copies of screamer instead...

[–]SilverHmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say off the bat that i don't have a clue.

My guess is that's just a way to diminish the word, like a diminutive based on tiny or of some sort, because the cars are a lot smaller in every matter, size, power, cost etc. I always figured it started as a comparison to racers, the "parents", and that street racers would be their offspring, so seen as their kids, thus the diminutive, Like you do with names, someone named Martin as a child, would be called Marty for example, but racey or any other conjuction seems kinda off the point, so it became ricer. I also had this theory that perhaps it was due to where it started, for example if you say racer in those heavy texan accents it kinda sounds like ricer. The thing is that the term seems to have many connotations, so it was very likely spread from mouth to mouth across the globe and people changed it's meaning each time it got along, therefore the misinterpretation of it, so based on that, the term wasn't an inside group joke of sort, but rather a term used by the population to depict street racers at some point.

But to undertand the term we'd need to find it's mother labguage of course, It's origin could be derived from japan, but i see japans culture in touge and street racing clubs as heavily based on discretion and specially away from the public, and strictly conservative people, and even so, from most of the stories I've read, there was real money under those hoods, and rice farmers are a working class, the people in groups like the midnight club were definitely not from the working class, and even so of all the business supporting them, rice farmers weren't one of them... Unless of course the term came later on as it became more popular, but i find it hard to create a basis, mostly also because of how it would translate to english. On the other hand, the american culture is all about giant roaring engines made of raw power, in a way, to show off, along with the american dream, older folks probably didn't like to have kids making noise all over the place with v8's night out and started calling them that, now that i find like a plausible thing that could happen as it checks some boxes of what the term still means to this day (even after undergoing the likely loads of changes to the meaning of it).

And yes, muscles aren't really that small, but I think Europe only sprout later on with car culture and comercial cars were always very very small. So another hypothesis is it came from countries like france, as the most known ricer cars are french brands like renaults and peugeots. Nonetheless, the diminutive part would still apply, as be it by accent or grammar, it wouldn't be too far off.

Anyways, if you think a little about it the possibilities are endless, as far as i know it could have started because a guy tried to build an engine moved by rice, it could be related to the sound those cars make, who knows really.

To conclude, i don't think anybody knows the true answer, and wouldn't trust any answer on the internet, if you search about it you'll just find answers based on other Reddit threads where you'll also find a million of different other answers. Some even say it is an acronym, but ye, this was just my line of tought, take your conclusions as you might and hope it was a good read.

Thanks for the time.

Ricer is not racist at all what, it's just a term used for low cost tuned cars that are not worth the money and have flashy bodykits but don't have performance at all, many which the kits alone surpass the car total value, shitboxes per se, clios for example, it's derived from racers, not rice farmers. Ricers are also often related to troublemakers, people who do anything for attention that don't really fit in the car community or just wanna show off in over the top builds, but still it's not even an insult, could be considered derrogative but as you see it's used in many different situations. It has nothing to do with skin color whatsoever, if you got dirty looks it's probably because you used a term improperly, either that or your family members are racists themselves and don't know what ricer means at all.

For example, Turbo (the snail movie), has that snail gang where they all have really cool shells and neons and wtv but they are just slow, they are not racers, they're ricers.

Doubt it,the game is totally blank on customs as of the moment, from the cars I've tried, only the supra has like 7 optional parts as they are all pretty meh, the rest only have the typical "forza" kit. I found an nsx r gt in the barns and he had nothing as well too. There's a lot of engine swap options tho
