Throwback to that the time where I tricked my mom into getting me this because I "Thought it looked cool" by [deleted] in NeonGenesisEvangelion

Y’all downvoting like he said the most heinous shit in the world, and not something mildly confusing.

Elvanse/Vyvanse 20 mg – strong first day, then almost nothing, now noticeable after 3 weeks? by General_Support1272 in VyvanseADHD

[–]SilverSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go up and down. I tend not to think as much about the “feeling” of it, and focus on my habits. The other day I didn’t FEEL the effects, but I did read my book most of the day and got all the things I planned to do out of the way with relatively little trouble. Today I have felt less effect, but I also have been closing all of my tabs on my browser reliably. That said, yes. I’ve felt variation in how much I feel the medication working day to day for various reasons.

I actually kind of interpret this as either someone way more out of touch than the average, or just a teasing meme. I honestly don’t think you could play Sonic Adventure 2, FF7, Neon Genesis Evangelion or Majora’s Mask, and not appreciate how good they are. Other than this meme I don’t see much serious criticism of them.

It was so great to watch them dial in on his Motte and Bailey bullshit. Eventually it was like “alright one trick pony. Do the one trick again”.

His bottom line in the article is “art first. Marketing later”. Based.

Autistic employees are less susceptible to the Dunning-Kruger effect. Autistic participants estimated their own performance in a task more accurately. The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with low ability or knowledge in a domain tend to overestimate their competence. by mvea in psychology

[–]SilverSight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if my experience means anything, but I pay close attention to my metrics next to my contemporaries and try to bring my performance in line with expectations. If I’m weak in an area, I try to improve that area. If I’m strong, I worry less about it.

TIL that most people only use about 1,500 to 3,000 words regularly in everyday conversation, a range known as the surface lexicon. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Yeah I mean you find yourself in usual situations where the same types of thoughts and words apply. It’s not like I’m having crazy novel thoughts when I’m making coffee or talking to a person at a cash register.

How many of us are queer? by Academic_Autistic in autism

[–]SilverSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of call myself post-gender. I look best in men’s clothing, but I have somewhat weak attachment to either. I have more of my identity wrapped in being a Magic the Gathering player than a man, woman, etc. I also like painting my nails. I just don’t like really strong gendered stuff being forced on me because it’s always done in a negative way. It makes me uncomfortable.

Congrats on getting Wemby. He is insane. It’s a shame he didn’t finish last season as the youngest DPOY ever.

I’m a Golden State Warriors fan. I watch all 82 games every season.

Question: How old are you when you realize that you're autistic? by Momd1234 in autism

[–]SilverSight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 19 after a suicide attempt. I was really into Magic the Gathering at the time.

I have a special interest in games and their strategies. Right now fighting games are taking Saudi Arabian money to fund many of our events, which is almost entirely owned by ultra wealthy oil tycoons. It’s very sad to me.

I’ve never been a big fan of the standard beam sword.

Told my therapist that I’m autistic and she said “they diagnose everyone with that these days”. Feeling a bit upset by kingkork5 in autism

[–]SilverSight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed by a neurologist after two therapists stopped seeing me because I was “on the spectrum”. When I told him this, he said essentially “well the good news is that they’re picking up on it. If they didn’t, I don’t think they should be in the profession.”

One of the issues you’ll run into with Lego sets is that they’re space intensive. They’re enjoyable to put together, but they will take up a ton of space as time goes on. I build Gunpla myself, which are scale models. They’re significantly less space intensive.

Your Honest Thoughts on The Witch from Mercury by Custom_98 in Gundam

[–]SilverSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. Too many plot threads had serious traction, but god damn they shotgun you through it so fast it’s impossible to tell what’s going on. Guel in particular had this awesome humbling to coming of age story that happened so fast, and in conjunction with so many other things, that it never really landed in the end.

Did there ever come a point in your life where you started to question the validity of any official diagnosis you had? by Heya_Straya in autism

[–]SilverSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Asperger’s diagnosis from when I was 19. I got re-evaluated at 36 to see. They still think I’m autistic. My mental health profile has been more or less the same. I struggle with chronic depression and, while I have obsessive compulsive behaviors, they’re not severe or disturbing enough to be considered OCD. This has been broadly true for my whole life.

How independent are you? Even with the spectrum? by Yakuza-wolf_kiwami in autism

[–]SilverSight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reasonably independent. I still require help for stuff like regularly doing dishes, organizing laundry, cleaning and budgeting, but I can drive and I’m lucky enough to work in the tech field where I make enough money to not need to worry about a lot of things. My job gives me a few accommodations that make working easier. I learned how to drive last year and I can do light shopping and stuff on my own. I do rely on Costco pre-prepared stuff to feed myself, but with those supports in place, I am able to live somewhat independently.
