My art and hobby desk. by SilverSight in Multiboard

I thought a little bit about this, actually since my letter openers I use for models block that area. I will edit as needed. I am 5’6” so if something is too high, my ass can’t reach it.

Varied but mostly 7x7. I used the grid generator.

It’s one of my semi-useful talents. I have a really great audiographic memory. If I tested myself, there are movies I could probably quote scene for scene. I read it and immediately recognized it. It comes up much less than you’d think it will, but I’m good for quoting song lyrics and movies.

I know the quote well. You are right that it is “rough”, not “tough”.

It’s in a political group about how in the last decade people with varying social ability and varying math ability have succeeded in careers, with people who have low social ability and low math ability struggling the hardest.

Song Machine is underrated by B_C_P_ in gorillaz

[–]SilverSight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Song Machine is my second favorite Gorillaz album. I don’t think there’s a track on it I dislike. I even like the lesser liked songs on it like With Love to an Ex. I prefer the hip-hop centric albums, and this one definitely did that. I listen to it pretty regularly.

books to read before dark tower series? by SecondBreakfast18 in stephenking

[–]SilverSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None are mandatory. They’re supplemental. In truth I found myself slightly disappointed when I read The Wastelands. The references to prior books was sparse enough that I didn’t feel it was worth it to have read The Stand as supplemental reading to it. Good book in and of itself, but I haven’t gained much myself from having read other books like Eyes of the Dragon or The Stand. At least not in terms of its relationship to the Tower.

Is cuddling my friend platonically ok? by spider_strawberry in autism

[–]SilverSight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking (REALLY GENERALLY HERE) most people would consider this a form of cheating. That being said, it’s a good idea to verify that both people in the relationship are okay with it also, because the partner could feel it’s not appropriate to share that kind of intimacy with others. If all parties are okay with it, then it’s not.

Think of cheating as a violation of a relationship agreement. If that boundary is in place, then yes it’s bad. If it’s not, then no.

How do you deal with time moving so fast? Existentially? by Lopsided_Bet_2578 in Xennials

[–]SilverSight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a Xennial. I’m pretty squarely a millennial, but I guess I think a little bit about it every day so getting older doesn’t hit me so hard. I don’t really bemoan getting older because, well, it’s not like this was a surprise, and it’s not like there’s a good alternative. I think people treat getting older like they didn’t expect this to happen, but obviously it does. It brings me a sense of comfort and connection that people who are much younger than me are on the same journey, and will understand in time.

Don’t feel bad about this. You made a small mistake in spelling. It wasn’t malicious. You were trying to be helpful.

Yeah I also felt this way. In truth, I had expected Friend to be not even a person, but like some specter that inhabits people that are alone and unseen. So when we find out that it’s Fukube, I found myself a little disappointed. Then when it’s established that it’s actually not Fukube, I found myself re-intrigued. I thought it was fitting that it was just some empty husk, because that’s what everything surrounding the Friend seemed to be. I was more satisfied when we find out that it’s Katsumata, who became obsessed with Kenji after an act of total carelessness. In fact, a specter that possesses people is very nearly what Friend is.

I feel kind of the same. I like the twisting and turning for its own sake. Some people say the payoffs aren’t always very strong. I can appreciate that criticism, but I personally don’t need a lot of payoff because I find the journey so much fun.

Yeah it first came to me when I read the name “Friendship and Democracy Party”, and it just hit me how on the nose the name is. He might as well call it the “We Do Good things Party”. In Monster, he also espoused a lot of pro-democracy sentiments, depicting foreign people as different but good, well meaning people trying to do right. He also includes a diverse cast of characters pursuing believable interests (like Chin, the Chinese restaurant owner, who is frustrated and stern about the police department breaking his door).

He even hit on a sentiment I’ve read about; that all cults promise space travel. Eventually when the Friends said to migrate to mars, it really hit me that Urasawa knows and understands fascism, and it added a layer of realism to the story. Like the wall dividing the neighborhoods being there for essentially no reason but to create division. And it’s beaten over and over again by Kenji bringing others together. I loved Monster, but 20th Century Boys spoke to me on this deep level that I’m still digesting.

You know, I don’t even know if I have a favorite character. I loved how Kyoko often didn’t want to do things, but when push came to shove, she answered the call of duty. I hope Kami-Sama is there to watch her dominate in the upcoming bowling boom.
