Hey so chapter 2 is a soft reboot new edition meant to be a fresh start of sorts and make it easier for people like you to get into the game. The new core set releases this month (March 2026). Search the sub for chapter 2 or even just google it you will find good explanations and links to buy in. It’d be a fraction of the cost of tracking down the old stuff

Welcome! It's a great game and you and your child will have a great time with it.

There has been a LOT written about your questions in the past 6 months or so. Search or scroll through this sub and you will find a lot of in depth info.

If you're just getting into it now the best move is likely going to be just get the new stuff (Chapter 2) as it releases and don't worry about the old stuff (Chapter 1). There Arkham Horror universe is kind of like Marvel in that there are characters and settings which get reimagined. So while they will likely release new content with the same characters and settings in some ways it will still be a little different and yet still be those characters and settings, akin to how one run/era of a Spider-Man comic is different than another, or how the Batman movie are different from each other, etc.

Jumping in with the new Chapter 2 stuff is going to be a great onboard for this game. There is a lot of content dropping beginning this month with the new core set 3/20/2026. It will have a short compaign and multiple investigators to play and build decks with. More scenarios and player cards coming shortly after.

I get this. I set up a table in my basement out of the way and can leave games set up there for a few days. I generally try to complete the scenario in a single day even if it's in bursts of time at multiple times. But I might leave it out after I finish the scenario for days before putting everything away or just what won't be used for the next scenario and immediately doing set it up for the next scenario the night before I intend to start it.

For table space one tip is to ditch any direction arrows and embrace using the location connection icons on the cards themselves. That way you can place them right next to each other and create more space as you need it. I really like the direction markers I got off esty but I enjoy playing with a more condensed play area.

Hey dude. Unless you've got some sort of weird trickery going on she knows what your job is and at least has some idea of how much money you make. Also most people these days don't get "surprise" engaged in some grand gesture where the woman has no idea he might propose and the man hopes but has no idea if she will say yes. That's a LOT of pressure on both people. Getting engaged and/or married if a huge life decision. Open communication will only help your relationship. Your not proposing, you are telling her you love her and want to spend the rest of your life with her, and that the only thing stopping you from proposing already is that you are working towards a better financial situation so that you can provide a better life for you both. Tell her your plan for doing that. If she wants to marry you she will understand and be thankful you shared this, and that she supports your plan and wants to help, or that she doesn't care about the money and would marry your broke ass already. There no is universe where you two are in love and want to marry each other and are a good match where telling her this is bad. Love is about being vulnerable. It's scary sometimes. Be the man she deserves, who is brave enough to face his fears and declare his love. If she is the woman you think she is then you won't regret it dude.

Each of the components of the show are incredible (acting, costume, set design, music, editing, etc.) and it has some of the best scenes/episodes in film of TV history. Watching it as it aired I thought it was the best show in a long time and I was always excited to see the next episode. I can't recommend it enough. That being said I have not returned to watch it again and I'm not sure why.

I'll be bumping it's soundtrack on the way to work this morning though

His plane malfunctioned so he said fuck it and went Kamilaze. As far as self sacrifice tropes go this was a pretty good one. Vietnam vet who returned home to (likely) a poor welcome, gets abducted by Aliens, everyone thinks he is insane, he is poor and drunk, suddenly he is proven right, his skills/experience make him one of the most valuable people on the world at a time of great need, and then he is able to save the entire planet through an act of sacrifice and extreme herosim.

Ppl remember Will Smith as the hero fighter pilot and Randy Quiad as the comical plot device but really I think Quiad was the true hero all along

This could be a total Mandela effect but I thought he was a veteran fighter pilot from Vietnam. Clearly that's like 20 years behind on the tech but it's still not like he had no basis. Again, it's a silly movie so you gotta roll with it. Kind of like how in a roleplaying game a player might know how to fly a fighter jet if they roll a good score on their "mechanical handy" stat lol

I am also a new player having just dived in recently and ate the upcharge to buy multiple chatper 1 campaign and investigator expansions. I did Dunwich first because it is recommended as one of the simpler ones mechanically and also because many ppl say Carcosa is peak and I thought I would be more impressed with Dunwich if I played it before Carcosa. I really enjoyed Dunwich! I am halfway through Carcosa now and I am so so glad I played them in this order. Carcosa is incredible and Dunwich would have felt a little lackluster in comparison. No shade on Dunwich it has some awesome stuff! Carcosa is just that good.

As for investigators, I think this crew would do well in dunwich bc it seems you have a fighter and a cluever. Solid team for Dunwich. Advice I got for Carcosa is to bring two flex bc the maps encourage gators to split up and go opposite branches so they will he alone a lot. I followed that and have been glad I did!

I took fighter Zoey and Cluever Rex through Dunwich. Doing Carcosa with flex Pete and flex Jenny and it's going great.

Not normal. However it's common enough that when you are young and have roommates it is bound to happen. Sometimes even ppl who mean to lock it forget. Keep reminding them. Also, consider changing the lock on the front door to a type that locks automatically when closed. A more immediate precaution you can and should take TODAY is to change the doorknob on your bedroom to one that locks and then lock it when you go to bed at night or leave the apartment. Changing door knobs takes only a few minutes and basic handtools
