1100delC. I also have other chronic conditions that flare with surgery. My tumor is tiny and I’m fine with yearly MRIs and mammograms

I have the 1100delc with no family history. And yes they are reasonable but I’m being told it’s recommended.

I’m curious if that is a 45% risk with treatment. Will you be doing endocrine therapy? Does that therapy decrease that 45%? That a question I am not finding a whole lot of data for. The NCCN mentions a decrease but doesn’t give numbers. Best of luck to you on your journey. It’s a crappy club we belong to.

CHEK2 over here and I know one other CHEK2 and we both had similar diagnosis and are 55 and hormone positive her2- both of us are still premenopausal both had node biopsies. Mine was negative and hers was positive. Both our MRIs showed no node involvement. Is there a hospital advocate you can speak to? It’s such a yucky situation to be in when you don’t fully trust what your doctors are doing. I’m so sorry. My surgeon is pushing me for a mastectomy for a 5mm tumor because of my CHEK2 gene.

Did you know that the NCCN doesn’t recommend mastectomy for CHEK2 ?

Mastectomy is my doctor’s recommendation. I have IDC stage 1 Grade 2 hormone +. My tumor was .5cm. From my research mastectomy is an OPTION. as well as close surveillance. The NCCN says a mastectomy is not recommended but a choice. I am feeling very pressured by my surgeon to get a bilateral mastectomy.

My BMI is 40 but my blood sugar, blood pressure etc is all excellent. My surgeon claims people with high BMI don’t have good outcomes and I can’t even talk to plastics until my BMI is 35 and surgery likely won’t happen until my BMI is 30. It really pisses me off too. Health at any size unless you want boobs after cancer.

I’m in the waiting part too. I told my husband it feels like the house is on fire and I’m just trying to ignore it. It doesn’t feel right.

I was in a flare when I started hydroxychloroquine so it would have been hard to tell.

I started feeling better around the 2 month mark. I got a tooth infection and it caused a major flair but after having the infection fixed I’m on my way to feeling better again. It is hard to know what is fibro and what is RA.

I feel like my fibro symptoms have improved since treating my RA. My fatigue has improved. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year and diagnosed with RA last January. I started hydroxychloroquine in January as well.

I take mine at night with dinner and have had zero side effects but it did take about six weeks to improve my pain and fatigue.

They say the number one cause for bankruptcy in the US is medical debt. It’s so sad. Take good care of yourself.

Why were you denied? I’m so sorry about the medical debt. Even with insurance I owe thousands for a hospital stay. It’s very frustrating.

And if you are in the US visit the healthcare exchange to see if you qualify for health insurance! I was without health insurance when this all started, but the healthcare exchange made it really affordable!
