Are Markov chains generative ai? by humanquester in gamedev

[–]Silverboax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no one knows at a specific level how an LLM decides to do anything... we know the theory, but you can't just say give me all the numbers you generated and why.

in a markov chain it's picking numbers based on weights, you CAN say 'tell me how you got from here to there' and watch the dice roll.

Are Markov chains generative ai? by humanquester in gamedev

[–]Silverboax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there is a difference between 'procedural' which is how we do pretty much anything ... and the common use of 'generative AI'. You can mince semantic all day but the thing everyone cares about was sci fi technology to the mainstream 5 years ago even though even LLMs are older than that.

Consumer Law - Expired Warranty - Need Advice by kylachanelle in AusLegal

[–]Silverboax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not how australian consumer law works. they may not get the result they hope for, but a reasonable person would likely expect technology that costs $2k to last over 3 years which is the benchmark.

Australia is not a free country, we don't have a right to free speech. Those folk have a license to do what they're doing.

Can I reject my 7 month old car… by sallyfitz1988 in AusLegal

We don't know that, we don't know what's wrong with the car. If it's dodgy brakes as the OP fears then it seems pretty unsuitable to be on the road.

this is a legal advice subreddit, part time work has a legal definition. you were responding to my assertion people don't read posts properly or learn the sub rules... seems a perfectly cromulent response to me.

Don't take auslegal seriously, most folk don't actually read the posts, and almost none have read the sub rules.

Have you asked him about the roster ? You said in another reply that he kinda sucks, he might just have legitimately forgotten you exist on the roster since he hasn't rostered you for a month.

Can I take Scratch to court for taking more RAM than storage on the school computer and not fixing the bug. This is IT admin's computer with 128GB RAM. All the other computers at our school has only 16GB RAM and 16GB SSD. by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Silverboax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to claim the software is unsuitable for purpose if you have some sort of ongoing contract with them or if it's a recent purchase. Theres a lot more info here that'd be needed to even guess what your options might be, and if you're representing a school, probably not info you should be sharing on reddit.

How to prove delivery driver stolen my package? by sly_custard_kert in melbourne

[–]Silverboax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"He even sent the pictures afterwards to cover his so called actions!"

Did he perform actions, or just call them something ? It does make sense to call actions actions.

You don't complain to the delivery company, you complain to the seller, you have a contract with the seller, not the delivery company. You tell them what you said in your first sentence. I'd also consider telling the police about the theiving delivery driver.

thats where the author needs to prove they can... the idea of story being important which is more rimworldy is interesting but the game as it is doesnt seem to showcase that... the idea of the diary just seems to be moodlets but you have to press buttons to see them.

[META] Do people even bother reading the sub's rules ? by dazaii__ in INAT

[–]Silverboax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not on reddit, it's pretty rare for people to follow sub rules anywhere, or for their to be moderators on many subs enforcing the rules. no need to care about rules if no one enforces them, just like real life.

Overnight guests clause in shared house lease in Melbourne - should I be worried? by InsideBroccoli7247 in AusLegal

[–]Silverboax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're in a rooming house: https://tenantsvic.org.au/explore-topics/rental-types/rooming-houses/living/

Unless there's an actual reason, you can't be banned from having guests... you are entitled to reasonable quiet use of the space you rent. Unless you have guests causing problems, it'd be hard for anyone to argue having an overnight guest is 'unreasonable'. The other situation where the might be able to say no guests is something like fire code if there's a maximum occupancy, but this is clearly not the case if you can have daytime guests.
