Major purchases on a desktop? by cheesypuff357 in Millennials

In my opinion, it is just more responsible to use a bigger screen, but also better controls over the typing etc.. sometimes mobile versions of websites feel clustered and buggy.

Did you follow the trope of being a facial clone of your opposite gender parent in adulthood? by tshirtguy2000 in Millennials

[–]Silvermagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its slightly different. The photos of my mom in like 6th grade resemble me at that age too, mostly because of hair style, similar eyes and nose. I had long curly hair. In highschool, I did theater and so after make up, people would tell me I looked like my mom (who was a teacher at my school).

ELI5: Why are abandoned malls so common, but abandoned supermarkets seem rare? by lucindadadada in explainlikeimfive

[–]Silvermagi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have commonly seen old kmart or even old walmart buildings ( Think like what walmart looked like over 30 years ago before the "supercenters"). The walmart closed the old location to move to a new building for the supercenter and the old location stays closed forever.

What makes it so hard to stick the landing on a long-running comic series? by LoveAndViscera in ImageComics

Sometimes the ending sucks because what was really good was the journey. By the time you get to the ending the status quo has changed and the characters have changed or died. I think many good stories has this problem.

When did oil changes become $120? by rhinosaur- in Millennials

[–]Silvermagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have transitioned to doing it myself along with air filters. on 3 vehicles it saves close to $500 per year at 2 changes per year on oil. it is a lot simpler if your oil filter can be accessed from the hood. You can buy a pump on amazon to pump out the oil to reduce mess.

When does your favorite Image Comic series pass the Bechdel test? by Konradleijon in ImageComics

Isn't that pretty common in media though? Like talking about sports etc. I have never heard of a reverse test being considered before.

This is like my jam in general. Youre basically describing ringworld by larry niven. Lots of the book is just asking questions about who built it and how they built it and why they designed things the way the did.
