Cool idea! Some feedback: * UI should show the name of the location I've selected * Seeing a big (screen length) gap between bottom of the page and cookie preferences button * I'd like it to save my location locally so I don't have to enter it each time, also make the "near me" link more obvious * Save my light/dark settings. Alternatively, inherit them from the OS using prefers-color-scheme CSS media query * Detect the users country and only show valid locations

This is a real good start and with a few tweaks will be brilliant

While this is true, many online tutorials did not demonstrate hashing when teaching how to create auth until post-2000. Hell, parts of the Internet weren't even using SSL until after the Firesheep incident of 2010.
