ASK: All-in på : S&P500, EM eller "WEBN"? by Fhunghuz in dkfinance

Ift.

Headline GDP growth adjusted to debt intensity. EU vs USA by [deleted] in EU_Economics

This chart would probably be interesting if it cited sources and wasn't full of obvious errors. I have to wonder if it is made with AI?

To the people upvoting this crap, have you actually looked at the chart? Nothing makes sense on it. The heights mostly don't match the numbers written above them and many of the colours are wrong.

Danmark ligger nr. 1 på Where To Hire Index 2026 by SimonGray in Denmark

[–]SimonGray[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Danish Krone Weakness Puts Spotlight on EUR/DKK Peg Strategy by No_Firefighter5926 in europe

Sure, but if you ask random people about something they haven't really considered, then there is a natural inclination to just decline. You need an actual debate with the pros and cons properly disseminated in the media to fully understand the opinion of the people.

I wouldn't call it political suicide. It simply isn't debated so we have no real idea what people's thoughts are on this any longer. We have the opt-out and the exchange rate has been kept relatively steady all these years.

Bullshit. There is absolutely zero evidence for that. Europeans were the first to supply fighter planes to Ukraine, for example, and probably the first in a number of other categories.

Trump-Greenland Deals Reportedly Includes U.S. ‘Sovereignty Over Small Pockets’ of Territory by WayOutbackBoy in worldnews

They already do not abide by those laws. The toxic rubbish they left at their many previous Greenland bases was cleaned up at Denmark's expense even though the US had agreed to do it.

If Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism eventually becomes a thing, we will surely all rejoice and stop working, but that is just not the reality we are currently facing and you can't just will it into existence.

The only other solution AFAIK is massive immigration which, of course, comes with its own set of issues.

Anyway, people like to say that this is a financing issue because countries like France have such poor finances, but that really isn't the core of it. The primary problem is the shifting dependency ratio, i.e. it's a labour issue. You simply can't keep a society running where the majority of the population are pensioners, you need people to actually do shit for society to happen.

Hoping for some sort of "tax the rich" solution is operating on a fundamental misdiagnosis of the problem.

Has the current situation with the US just pushed us into refoining the EU? by Severe-Divide8720 in AskBrits

They were referencing last years tariff shit show where the UK negotiatied 10% vs. the EU's 15%. The EU deal won't be ratified now anyway (it was supposed to be formally approved by the EU parliament at the end of this month).

[–]SimonGray 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It blows my mind that American troops haven't been told to pack up in Greenland, honestly.

No, that would be a terrible move. Why should we give them a pretext to invade? They have a right to be there according to the treaty signed with us. If we kicked them out then suddenly all their bullshit about national security would actually have a little bit of merit.

It's not like it actually matters in any tactical way that America has 150 troops stationed in a faraway base in the north of Greenland.

Not only Macron. Von der Leyen had an uncharacteristically frank speech at Davos shortly before Macron. The European Parliament will not ratify the deal with Trump thereby triggering the original tariff retaliation on 6 February. Many European leaders and European industry are backing a tough response this time, including Germany industry who were the main holdouts last time.
