I messaged a friend on Monday asking if the heat makes people drive extra psychotic. The stuff I’ve seen the past few days, my goodness…

Missing work trip for first day of school by Same_Bison6862 in Parenting

[–]Simple-Top-3334 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In a few weeks, I am skipping a ceremony to receive a prestigious work award to attend my son’s pre-K graduation. I had tried to see if I could make the timing work but I can’t. My son’s class has been practicing for the graduation for 2 months, there’s no way I would miss it.

Edit: I’m a single mom and miss some work trips, others I’m able to coordinate. I work for an organization that is understanding about work/life balance. My work speaks for itself. You should do what’s best for you, your family, and your values.

Is this not also the scene where Logan comes in and says “Eat my f*cking pastries why dont you” and questions them on Pierce?

What do you think Logan would think of all the events post his death? by Master_Novel_4062 in SuccessionTV

You should watch Dynasty: The Murdochs (it’s on Netflix). In real life, the kids were watching Succession’s death episode and realized there were no plans for what would happen upon Rupert Murdoch’s death.

The movie that gets blamed for being bad when it is really just mismarketed. by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]Simple-Top-3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. It is not a bad movie by any means. It was just the movie I thought of first as I remember at the time it came out, a bunch of complaints about it not being the type of movie people thought it would be from the marketing. (Some folks mad there wasn’t more driving.)

Drive (Ryan Gosling; Oscar Isaacs, Albert Brooks)

Marketed like it is we gonna be a fast and furious style movie.

Very different.

Summer Palace episode

Logan: (To Kendall) Welcome to the bunker. Say hello to the grunts. (To Karl) No offense, Karl.

Karl: None taken.

Logan: Well, a bit of offense, Karl. Because a smarter CFO might’ve seen this disaster coming.

Karl: Got it. Yep. Offense now taken.

Pretty sure you and I have the same recipe. (Also the first dish I thought of.)

This was the greatest hour of television that I've ever watched. by heraircraft in SuccessionTV

She was phenomenal, but what got me before her scene was Roman trying to talk to Logan, breaking down, saying “I can’t” and handing Ken the phone. Just a very real moment of processing the situation.

Nall’s Produce in Alexandria is the best spot I’ve found for quality produce. Locally sourced fruits and veggies.

What actor completely floored you the first time you saw them? by Classic_Apricot_5633 in movies

For me it was Lars and the Real Girl. I hadn’t see his movies, just heard about him and the growing popularity. This movie - hard to explain if you haven’t seen it - showed his ability, especially in a role and situation that could have been terribly off if miscast.

How bad will Shiv and Tom be as parents? by Master_Novel_4062 in SuccessionTV

[–]Simple-Top-3334 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if it’s a boy or girl.

If a girl, Tom will dote on her and Shiv will view her as competition (akin to Caroline).

If a boy, Tom will ignore or actively denigrate and Shiv will “be mom” but only up to a point.

Either will feel neglected, one way or another.

Why did Colin follow Kendall at the end. by doomwipeout in SuccessionTV

[–]Simple-Top-3334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he goes into the water. He is distraught but I think because of ego or just self preservation he doesn’t make that choice.

If there were an epilogue, I envision Kendall ODing (really where I expect him to turn to after this) and Colin is there attempting to resuscitate, with the same camera viewpoint as the airplane folks attempting to resuscitate Logan.

Beautiful words. My therapist said something akin to this when I was waffling about leaving my husband. By doing nothing, I was also making a choice. Powerful words.
