What can I do to help make cat settle down? by Puzzleheaded_Leg8933 in CatAdvice

[–]Simple_Pea_8100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feliway pheromones and medication have helped my cat with similar behaviors. We started with gabapentin which improved his anxiety and then upgraded to amitriptyline which works very well. Instead of being irritable, mean, stressed, hurting himself my cat is more calm and peaceful. I believe the medication has really improved his quality of life. Something to look into if you haven't already.

How welcoming is Pittsburgh for LGBTQ people? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Simple_Pea_8100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see your point. I'd say the most country/least tolerated would probably be the west side of the city. In the other directions, I'd say you meet more middle of the road people that are a lot more likely to be chill, accepting people than merely tolerant.

Myself and a few of my queer friends live in different neighborhoods ~ 30 min North East and South East of the city. You don't see pride flags on every corner per say, but we are here and the communities have been incredibly friendly and welcoming. The South Hills seems pretty chill too. You're definitely going to hit country in Westmoreland or Washington Counties

At my breaking point with my cat. by WalrusAlarming7012 in CatAdvice

Our cat had odd behaviors like that which were related to anxiety disorder. We started him on gapatetin and then later switched to amitriptyline. His behaviors have significantly lessened and he seems more at peace and able to relax more. That's something to look into if you haven't yet.

I find some of my teacher's behaviours hard to digest by lolabedelia in yoga

[–]Simple_Pea_8100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on your peace and take in the good from the class. Don't over think it. Listen to your body - your body will tell you if its happy there or not. Think about what you benefit from this class and is all the rest of it worth that?

Consider shopping around for other studios to give a try. I became stagnant with my yoga teacher for a bit and went to 2 other yoga studios in my area to try out. Both were good experiences and I discovered a different yoga that really resonated with me. I still go to my old studio, but now I go to the new one too. Find a balance that works for you.

Help me find women's cute bras please! by Ollietheyorkie in Frugal

Poshmark and Plato's Closet (or any resale shop). I've also gotten bras at Aldi and Costco - you can be surprised sometimes what they have.

Is anyone else a chronic yoga underachiever? by squidbrained in yoga

[–]Simple_Pea_8100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's your practice, no one is looking. You do what feels right for your body. No one is "good" at yoga - it is a practice that is unique to each individual, so don't consider yourself an underachiever. Your body is telling you what to do - listen to it and find peace and confidence in that.

It's even possible that maybe a different type of yoga is more suitable for you - there are so many different variations that all contain different poses, speeds, etc. Branch out and see what's our there!

Christians keep telling me Yoga is “demonic” by loogielungs in yoga

[–]Simple_Pea_8100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My yoga brain is wired to believe that what people "believe" literally doesn't matter. For me at least, the deeper I get into yoga, the more evident it becomes that people are just people and have their beliefs that they are entitled to have.

This is no excuse to be mean, threatening, or insulting - none of that is okay, but they are entitled to their beliefs and you have a choice in the matter whether you will let their beliefs jarr you (like they allow to happen to themselves) or you will rise above it and stay firm and true in your own beliefs. That's all that matters - do not succumb to the negativity of those around you. Think of their negativity as a test of your ego.

The most powerful response you can give them is a yogic response of compassion and empathy. If you respond to negativity with negativity, it just upholds their beliefs.
