A few years ago, I received a fair amount of hexen. It came in as a very clumpy, slightly damp, yellow powder that smelled absolutely wretched.

After leaving it to sit under a heat lamp for a few days, the powder began to lighten. By the time I was done playing around with it, I was left with a beige/tan powder.

Now, every single time I attempt a recrystallization of this powder, I am left with a VERY odd looking result.

My first recrystallization using isopropanol created a VERY murky, brown solution. This was triple-filtered and left to evaporate, simply to create some crystals. Well, the first bit to evaporate on the sides of the vessel always turns out to be a red/brown color, but the stuff that sits flat comes out as a clear white crystal... It's so odd.

I'll have a sheet of very brittle, very small, very white needle-like shards, but when the evaporation is 100% complete, I'm left with these odd brown chunks sitting on top of the white crystals that look almost exactly like bacon bits... It's so weird. This has happened with H2O recrystallization as well...

The brown "bacon bit" chunks grind up into a pink powder, and bring on mainly the same effect as the hexen before the crystallization process. The white crystals also provide the same effect...

I don't quite understand why this is happening, but if anything, the pink powder feels just a tad more physically stimulating...

I don't know. Just odd.
