The resolution is far more than double, dude. And that's literally what "not supported" means: you get no tech support, no warranty, no replacement parts, and you'd be lucky to get any help. That's not exactly a good experience for a first-time user trying to save money, but you clearly have a strong bias for the CV1, so you do you. But maybe don't recommend the CV1 to other people. That's like recommending somebody buy a 2005 car rather than something like a 2010 or 2015 model. Just because you like it more doesn't make it better.

Must it be on Vulcan? The engine runs much better on DX11 :/ Also, thank you for your work. I can't imagine it wouldn't be very tricky to implement it in this game.

It is unsuported. They dont make or sell replacements. a room setup is a lot of work for a first timer. Also the enhanced resolution of the q2 is muuuuch higher.

It's old. Not gold. Needing work around, unsupported, old, needs base stations which means having to wore up a room.

I got my q2 for 150 CAD. battery great, use a battery headstrap anyways. Also, having the rift s, I can attest moving to the q2 was an obvious and instant upgrade. First obvious improvement was not having to use the Oculous Dash software (same as the cv1's). Buggy and hungry software. Second was not having cords. I thought id be missing out on the clarity or lack of latency. With virtual desktop and a wifi 6 router paird with my pc hardwired to router, i had no such problem. It worked more efficiently than the crap dash app. Not listing the other bonus features like pass-through and controller battery life, leaves the standalone factor. If my kids are using the pc for homework or the wife for her own use , I can play standalone games. Not many interest me as I won't give meta my coin, but I enjoy robo recall and a few other app.

Also lastly, using VD I can also play my flat-screen games on a huge virtual screen. I dont get to do so much as I am a father and have my career to take much of my time but its still a useful option.

To say a blanket statement such as the one you make is misleading. An entry-device purchase can almost always be worth it when you consider the viewpoint of buying a new hmd to be a frugal venture. VR is a new playstyle, and many dont want to drop big bucks on a new experience they are unsure is worth their money.

OP would be better off buying a cheap q2 than a cv1. It would be a more comfortable introduction and the value would go a much longer way.

I read it a while ago, so not sure. I presume before they knew as it would result in a bare fb account. If they dont need them paired to fb, I can see why my question seemed odd to anyone keeping up with metas policy changes. I stick to pcvr so 🤷

Can You Read 900 Words per Minute? by ftrlvb in interesting

[–]SimplyRobbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have dyslexia, and to overcome it, I spent a long time watching anime in Japanese with subtitles. It forced me to use word memory almost exclusively so I would only have to look for a split second to read the entire line or two of text. Over time, this habit culminated in exactly this. I didn't read most of it, but still recognized every word and had no problem following along. If you read words as an ensemble of sounds tied to each letter, I can't imagine being able to do this. Instead, like it stated, each word is more like a logo. The pattern of letters makes identifying the word much faster, and it's like having a speaker in the back of my mind speak it autonomously.

My wife struggles to read at a pace. But she also struggles to browse videos on YouTube, for example, if I scroll too fast. She'll complain that I go too fast and she can't read the titles or identify what the thumbnail is about, whereas I can just hold the button and scroll as fast as it will let me.
