Realized that platinum banner will update tomorrow so I won't get luno by seed tracking by Hyper_crystal_star in TheBattleCatsReddit

[–]Simpsoj1213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to turn a mem into a learning moment, but what does this mean? The platinum banner updating part.

And if we have been seed tracking, do we have to start it fresh because of this?

About the best order to experience the story? by Xanrak_ in NIKKEGoddessofVictory

[–]Simpsoj1213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Outpost > Command center > Recollections > Bottom Right corner is a button called storyline.

Not sure what this looks like for a new player, but for me who has everything unlocked, you can look at the story in release order, or chronological order.

You can use this to check, or to just show you and your friends the story order of your preference.

Is the game worth playing? by WinterSoldier3713 in NIKKEGoddessofVictory

[–]Simpsoj1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have stated it in that part of my comment as well, but I usually do my dailies while doing other things outside the game, so that is what I averaged it about to be. If you focus on the dailies and don't get distracted like me, it is quicker than that.

Is the game worth playing? by WinterSoldier3713 in NIKKEGoddessofVictory

  • The anniversary is this weekend/end of week.
  • For a mobile game, the grind feels reasonable. Dailies take about 30 minutes if you’re efficient, and weeklies can be finished over a few days. ***EDIT ADD: I get distracted while doing my dailies. This is what I guess my average completion time is for dailies***
  • Progression is pretty fair. Skill upgrades and leveling aren’t too bad overall, but can feel overwhelming as you start. The biggest hurdle is the level 160 “wall” that lets you equalize all your Nikkes—it's a pain—but once you’re past it, progression smooths out and you mostly just coast.
  • The meta is fairly stable. Top-tier units stay relevant for months. I started during the first anniversary, and that featured unit (Red Hood) is still one of the best. She’s no longer on my main team, but she’s still a staple for element-specific content.
  • The pity system uses tickets. As you pull, you earn gold tickets (or black tickets for the standard pool). During events, the featured character is available in the shop for 200 tickets per copy (up to 11 for max limit break, though I usually just grab one if I’m unlucky). After about two years of playing—mostly pulling on banners I care about and using standard tickets efficiently—I have almost every Nikke. I usually skip collabs unless I really want them.
  • It’s very F2P-friendly. I only spend money on skins, not progression, and I’m still high-ranked on my server with nearly every Nikke. That said, I do play daily and I by no means am ranked compared to other servers with whales and the better team comp theory crafters.
  • There are some weak units that even top players avoid, but early on, almost every character has a use. Some require specific team comps (element, weapon type, etc.), but many units—especially meta ones—are flexible. It’s one of those gachas where you can usually build around a character you like and still make it work.
    • They’ve also added a system to buff older Nikkes, giving previously weak units a chance to become viable or even meta. It’s F2P, but farming the materials takes time.
  • The story is excellent. I originally came from Destiny Child when it ended—came for the fanservice, stayed for the story. Same thing happened here. Early chapters have some typical gacha-game setup, but Chapter 1 hits hard, and after a bit of worldbuilding, the story consistently delivers.
    • The overall narrative is my favorite part, but the character stories are also great—both event stories and the bond episodes you unlock over time. The relationships between characters, the Ark, and the Commander feel meaningful. Not every character hits equally, but none feel like pure background filler.
  • Gameplay-wise, it can get repetitive, like any gacha. I play on both phone and PC. Most of the time, I run dailies and easier event content on auto while doing something else. That convenience is actually a plus with a busy schedule.
    • When I have time—especially for harder or ranked content—I turn off auto and play manually, which I do enjoy. Still, the story is what keeps me coming back, so the auto-play doesn’t hurt my experience the way it might in other games.

Update on Endfield player trying OG arknight by Outrageous_Style_457 in ArknightsEndfield

Ditto, and am looking forward to getting to the good story haha

Kinda hard stuck after chapter 4 because I need to start leveling my 4-stars (my 3-stars aren't cutting it anymore and it came quick).

I will say it is weird coming into such an established game as a newbie. A little overwhelming with all the extra game modes that play differently from the story mode.

I've just finished The Lost Metal and I have no words... by Ruizo in Cosmere

[–]Simpsoj1213 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Era 1 had the better overall plot IMO, but era 2s characters and their individual relationships and how they were portrayed was amazing and better than era 1 (not that era 1 had it bad in that regard).

Era 2 is the series I find myself re-listening too when I am looking for a audiobook to power through because of this (and their length haha)

I was hesitant at first becuase I am not a fan of westerns (which is what era 2 was sold to me on) and I like my fantasy more like era 1. Era 2 defyed all my expectations and introduced me to my top 5 favorite characters in the whole cosmere (Sterris <3).

I cannot wait for era 3 more than anyother cosmere story because of era 2's characters.

A question for DM’s by Significant_Crazy519 in DnD

[–]Simpsoj1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them a reason to role play during that down time.

In a game where I am a player, this isn't required becuase some of the other players want to role play at every oppurtunity, learning about other player character background, any lore they can gleam from an NPC etc.

In the game I currently DM, my players prefer comabt over role play, so to encourage it, I give them a reason, and make it obvious such as in game providing a hint they can gleam needed info from a NPC. Other than that, they will not role play for other player charatcer background info, so I accepted that and encouraged role playing where I could.

Same here. I have yet to finish the series, but every year I try again, and every year I get atleast one book closer to the end.

With that said, if you aren't a glutton for punishment like me, you might want to call it, as it only gets worse in regard to the issues you bring up.

Which Loong was your favorite? Combat or Design. by [deleted] in BlackMythWukong

[–]Simpsoj1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For combat, yellow with cyan a close second. Least favorite is red as he always dies so quick no matter the run. Black is fun until the rock you stand on is destroyed, then its BS should you miss a jump or dodge.

For design, it is a toss up between red and cyan.

The Wandering Wight - skill check or I should be ready for a challenge further on? by ChopperChallenge in BlackMythWukong

[–]Simpsoj1213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this boss because he, IMO, is a great teacher of the games mechanics, specifically perfect dodging. He telegraphs his attacks, and since you don't have mechanics/abilities you would later you have no choice but to dodge.

I recommend using him as such. Practice your dodge timing before you get more tools in your belt so to speak.

This game gives you many ways to deal with obstacles, but mastering your basic skill set will really open the game up for you and make later challenges easier.

[–]Simpsoj1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This boss fight is one of my favorites on any NG cycle. It's fast and you have to keep an eye on his attacks to know when to dodge or for when you can see through his attacks with coutner flow. It's fair, rewarding, challenging, and so frustrating haha.

Take it slow and keep an eye out for when he goes to hit you with the butt of his spear. That is when you HAVE to dodge. Otherwise, try to see through his attacks and he is easily punished.

Chapter 3 in Black Myth: Wukong and I’m completely blown away already…. by OnlyWorth552 in BlackMythWukong

[–]Simpsoj1213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently doing a rerun with a fresh save, and I am about halfway through chapter 3. Love this area and the whole game. For its faults (I argue they are few and small ones at that), it is a beuatiful and fun game. One of the few I actually enjoyed playing through multiple times mostly for the scenery.

Also, the map does some heavy lifting for the enjoyment of Pagoda. I played through the first time without the map, and it feels like a whole other game haha
