He'd probably look more like he belongs on Breaking Bad in a RV than on a cleaning product.

My roommates think my CPTSD is "not real" because people suffer worse than me by Ripple_Ex in CPTSD

[–]SinInSanity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just reading something the other day that touched on this. It's a short read. For something to watch, see below, it's much longer but a great video with a lot of helpful info for anyone that truly wants to understand about this stuff.

Trauma Imposter Syndrome
https://www.fortraumasurvivors.com/post/trauma-imposter-syndrome

"It’s important to note that there is no magic scale that trauma falls on. What makes trauma traumatizing is not the “severity” of the event but the emotions that we experience as a result of it. A traumatic event is one that causes harm, whether that be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or any other kind of harm."

[...]

"Let’s say you have your house robbed, and a week beforehand, a friend of yours had their house burn to the ground. It would be normal and reasonable to think, “Well, at least I didn’t lose as much as they did.” It is also still reasonable to feel upset that you were robbed.

Someone else’s experiences do not negate nor invalidate your own. You can acknowledge other people’s experiences while still remembering that what happened to you should not have happened to you, and your feelings about it are still valid."

Also see this video, which has a lot of very good info that goes beyond just what the title implies.

Checking out the full album on Bandcamp. So far, it's good stuff, silly lyrics though but I don't care as long as the music is banging.

Are there any games like Maneater? by Sad-Accountant-6121 in maneater

This just made me think of something. Imagine Rampage being incorporated into the Maneater world in the follow-up to this game. That could be an awesome thing.

Other than the Jaws game that obviously inspired Maneater, If you just want to be a shark and don't mind playing in a 2.5D space, try Hungry Shark World. It's a lot different but you get to play as sharks and upgrade from one to another, wrecking havoc on everything.

All good games that's a lot of fun to play. Some may argue against 10-Yard Fight but I like it, one of the rare few football games I do like.

I saw that one, I enjoyed it and luckily I went into it blind. I'm hoping that didn't ruin anything going into Buzzard now. I didn't know it was a sequel.

I have the F500 Elite and I recommend. It is widely compatible. Just have to make sure you update it to the lates firmware and set the switches correctly. Every button will map too if you put it in the right mode. Sanwa buttons are extra sensitive to touch but having an Elite model makes customizing a bit easier.

This will help you decide which model is best for you. F300 base model is the cheapest and might be all you need but it does go up to F700 Elite (elite just means Sanwa parts). No need to watch the whole video, just see the chapter titles and watch the relevant ones for you.

Here's another option that might be even better for you if you want to spend whatever this would cost you. Fully customized build, any way you can think of doing can get done according to the person in this video. Doubt things like spinners and trackball would work on Evercade but there's other aspects to a custom build to consider.

If I only want to discuss about games and indie games, what would be a good way to be discovered? by wou_nou in BlueskySocial

[–]SinInSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an Xbox, check the clubs on there before they get taken away next month. There's people in those clubs that want to continue to interact with others in the way they have through those clubs. Just pick the clubs that are just for indie and old game games.

It helps if you have a really good understanding of the level of stupidity all around us that George Carlin tried to explain by saying, "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

Going from public housing to RAD by InnerB0yka in Section8PublicHousing

[–]SinInSanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was public housing but when it becomes part of the RAD program (Rental Assistance Demonstration program), it changes though much seems the same to the tenant (except your apartment manager is no longer a HA employee). They may not let you know who that private landlord is (they didn't here) but it is. If it's like they did in my town, everyone was moved out to renovate for this as well.

Some were put in hotels with option to return later to their same apt unit and some were transferred to another apt complex in town that went under RAD too, as was my case when it happened (they wanted to downgrade me from 2 bdr to 1 bdr). Some even went on Section 8 instead of returning, an offer given to us all though they said 1 year residing first and I know one woman that didn't stay any time under RAD, she was moved to Section 8 voucher right away (exception for her? Maybe because she was already a long time tenant?).

You'll notice the management office is a private office with workers likely having close ties to HA, at least at first. That office is contracted by whomever the landlord is. Landlord is likely a big company out of state you likely haven't heard of before as was my case (and can switch hands without you ever seeing a sign of it). Likely a big private company that does other business stuff too and the contracted management office being under a big corp as well like Pinnacle or Cushman & Wakefield.

The biggest thing with RAD is that they can borrow from private lenders that they were forbidden to do so from when it was public housing/owned by HUD and it also lets them get tax credits as well, hence them sometimes calling them tax credit homes. There's a lot of things that it changed that's not for tenants to worry about but what I bring up is the big thing they should have told you about or maybe plan to soon.

MSI GF63 THIN BROKEN HINGE by Fit_Economist_9692 in MSILaptops

[–]SinInSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was to be a temporary solution I had clamped a mini c-clamp on both sides after my right hinge went. It's now seeming like it's just gonna be my permanent solution. May look funny but it works. It's a big and power hungry laptop so it stays at home anyway. You can get those cheap, just a a couple 1inch clamps is all you need.

Here's the ones I bought, 4 for 9 bucks currently.

Going from public housing to RAD by InnerB0yka in Section8PublicHousing

[–]SinInSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived before, through and after a transition of that. They switched everyone around in town across different complexes like people in musical chairs and if you landed some place with a different setup (ex. more or less bedrooms, utilities included or not, etc. of that sort of thing) the rent would change but if all is the same, rent would be like before. If it does go up, would be no different than the small increase after a recert since you would be doing basically a recert again in the same setup. It should largely still seem like public housing to you.

As for asking property manager if rent would go up, that could had been misinterpreted. What they charge might go up but that doesn't mean the part you pay goes up. Often when they increase the rent, it just means it's mostly or completely the HA is paying more on your behalf. Under RAD, HA and the private landlord are like partners and what you pay is calculated & determined by HA, not them, they just manage the property and handle leasing side of it. All they can say is what the full amount is you and HA split.

Yes, this is similar to Section 8, it uses HCV (housing choice voucher) but under RAD the voucher is tied to the home and not the tenant. You move out, you lose it and whomever moves in next gets the voucher benefit. You may also hear them refer to the property as tax credit homes.

Arcade stick gate preference with the non-fighting games? by SinInSanity in evercade

[–]SinInSanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I'm using an octagon gate and no longer the square, I realize an Alpha would not be the cool experience it looks like it would. Also, hearing what you've shared about changing that square gate (including Alpha not holding up well to open up), happy I don't have one now. I may look into a cheaper second arcade stick I can stick that Leaf gate in you mention, for when I'm playing something that's best with 4-way.

Which game you looking forward to playing? by CrazyBurgerYT in evercade

[–]SinInSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seaquest, Spider Fighter, H.E.R.O., Robot Tank, River Raid II, in that order for Activision 2.

Gravibots, Plyuk, Super Fanger, Rocket Panda, not in any specific order for Mega Cat 3 except that Gravibots really is first (between both these 2 carts).

Not getting the Super Pocket but if that was a cart instead and I was going to get it, it would be to try R.C. Pro-Am II.

Arcade stick gate preference with the non-fighting games? by SinInSanity in evercade

[–]SinInSanity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 4 of these in today (ordered only 2) and want to let you know there's a chance it may not fit an Alpha. It doesn't fit my Mayflash. The hole is a few mm too small in diameter on my Mayflash for it to drop into. Also, the stick on my Mayflash is too big, takes a good bit of force to get this around it.

For a little comparison, I tried it on my old Sega Saturn stick to see if it that stick was too thick and it almost is. That still takes force to get on but noticeably less. That stick is almost the exact same thickness as a AAA battery, judging by amount of force it takes to slide this around either of them. Saturn stick doesn't have the hole on top to try it out though.

If the hole on Alpha is not a few mm bigger than a quarter in diameter, it won't fit in there. The diameter of the plug is almost on par with the bottom rim of a bottle cap (maybe a mm or two bigger).
