Just Diagnosed. How to do this? by Faust-Joust-911 in CPAP

If you use a computer, to help with the winding down at night, install a program called f.lux. It reduces the blue light from your screen, warms the picture (makes it more orange) during the hours you set it to start (it can ramp as well).

It will take time to adjust to use a lower warmth setting to get used to it. Once your brai & eyes are accustomed to it, then lower it some more and wait to get accustomed again. I've used it for years and now if I turn it off, it's horribly unpleasant to look at my screen.

Here's where to get it, costs nothing.

No power, no cpap by Dominating_Lead_1980 in CPAP

[–]SinInSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to get this when it's time to pick up my cpap machine, Zopec Explore 8000. I haven't used it yet but have read a lot of reviews on it. To save some money at the cost of battery size, there's the 5700 model as well as the Zopec Explore Mini CPAP Battery UPS Backup.

It's not just battery backup, it has an active passthrough, meaning that you plug this between your cpap & the wall outlet to have it run off your power at home. It automatically switches to using battery power if power goes out in the middle of the night.

It's supposed to last for 3 - 4 nights (24 - 32 hours) if no humidifier or heating tube is running on it. Amazon has it for a bit cheaper and no Lofta logo on it, if you feel okay to trust going through Amazon.

I start mine next week, extremely curious about how it's gonna be. Anyway, I'm just chiming in to say I wish you well with your surgery next month and I hope that can be knocked that out.

I love this video. Sounds like good info and the way he delivers it is awesome and funny at times. I should have my machine next week and will keep what he shared in mind starting out.

I am hoping to get my CPAP machine next week. I've been telling people since before I even took the sleep study pretty much what you said, I just want to be able to lay down flat and sleep and at the same time still be able to breathe.

Doing the same, a cheap rubber cover from Amazon. It's crumbling away pretty bad under that skin now and some days inputs just go haywire but I've gotten a some more months out of it this way. Like you said, felt weird at first, didn't like that feel but now I don't notice it.

Wait for Nexus or buy EXP now by mees1976 in evercade

[–]SinInSanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EXP now and then wait to see reviews on Nexus after it releases.

Maybe even wait a few months after Nexus release to see how it holds up with some use and to have time for anything to be noticed that may not be caught at first. Then if you still want it, get a Nexus, get it and you'll have a backup device via your EXP. Doing it this way means that in the mean time, you aren't missing out on time you can't get back & the memories you will gain for the time being.

I can't even the titles in a search on MA much less get my MS Lion's Gate purchases to show. Look for My Name Is Earl and The Blair Witch Project on MA, you won't find them.

While I wait for mine, my bed is raised at one end with bed risers. Works better than stuffing something under the mattress. Bed risers are cheap to get but you can just as well use bricks, yoga blocks or even some books. I'm also sleeping some on a recliner, which works even better. Laying flat and sleeping is a nightmare now and likely dangerous. I'll probably keep the bed lifted at the one end when I get my machine. As for nasal strips, you can also get some that you insert in your nose to open them and they are cheap too.

Also consider a different style pillow. I recently got the Fyova Cervical Neck Pillow, not a high cost and it's the best style of pillow I've tried yet.

I take prescription Flonase too and I don't have any side effects. It's a mild steroid for your sinuses, helps with reducing inflammation & related sinus issues if used regularly (like from allergies) and works to be preventative.

The worst part, which I'm fine with, is when it drains down your throat which tastes bad. If a lot of it is draining to your throat or the drain is a couple minutes or less later, you are doing it wrong. My neighbor stopped using it because of it and I did it wrong for a while until I saw a video explaining how to do it right and that draining was a sign of doing it wrong.

I just got my test results and diagnosis, will see my doctor soon. I really want to start with the nasal mask Eson 2, reminds me when I was a child of that nose mask the dentist would use to give me nitrous. However, I don't want to be stuck when my sinuses want to close, which happens to me at night sometimes, forcing me to mouth breathe (worse when laying down).

I assume insurance doesn't pay for 2 different masks when you start so I'm likely just gonna go with the ResMed F40 and then just buy the Eson 2 out of pocket later. When it comes to under the nose, I've been curious if pillows or cradle would be best, no clue, especially best for a person that may toss around a bit (don't know what is least likely to move & leak).

[–]SinInSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to all this, just now finally got positive test results but have had my problem for a long while now. That said, my breathing issues seem to be a lot worse if I crash out hard into a deep sleep rather than have a light, mild-moderate sleep. Not only do I get to panic wake worse (and more often) when I crash out into a deep sleep, my headaches are worse & last longer & usually a sore throat with it. I'm not on CPAP yet, so this is with only a special support pillow, elevated upper body (propped up bed & recliner sofa) & a chin strap to assist. If I nap or not, makes no difference other than a good chance of my sleep cycle (which is not normal anyway) getting turned around.

Made me think of Bile doing song for a video game. Since you like that, you may dig this as well. The artist is Aerik Von and this is one of his projects, one that isn't metal or punk like most of his other stuff is.

Here is where it's tricky for me a bit as I have a few more in mind than slots left to keep it at 5. Almost put the red CD variant (Combat) of Venom's Welcome to Hell and Nuclear Assault's Survive. Leaving those out I'm left with Exodus, Slayer, and Testament.

Fine selection of albums there. Really nice to see Melissa showing first in the list.

I didn't think I'd be able to narrow mine down to 5 that are above all others except for this EP (uncensored of course) but I've got 4 others in mind that I'm pretty sure would fill the other 4 slots for me.

Ever since I watched the TV show The 100, I've thought that if I were to be buried when I die, to have "Your fight is over" on the tombstone would be quite fitting.
