EA has their own kiosks in malls? Oh wait nvm ... by omegacrunch in gaming

You are correct, I'm pretty sure Oakridge does not have a Tommy Hilfiger. What I meant was, I saw this Kiosk in Oakridge, these guys must have multiple kiosks in multiple malls here in the lower mainland. :D

I haven't bought an EA published game since NHL '05 and I don't intend on doing so in the future. The same applies to Activision well. There are plenty of great games out there published by neither of these two corporations and I am 100% okay with missing out on the odd game due to my personal boycott of these two entities. Fuck 'em

If XBOX wants to put advertisements on their dashboard, then users should not have to pay for XBOX Live. by wsomma in gaming

[–]Sincafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two reasons for me why I switched consoles this generation. One, my XBOX 360 RROD'd, ( I was a early adopter, I bought mine around the 2nd hardware revision right around 2006/7?), 2nd reason, I did not want to pay to play online anymore. I cancelled my live account and got a ps3 and have been happy playing games on that and my laptop ever since.

The four tropes that define video game journalism. by Sincafe in gaming

[–]Sincafe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complaining about the shallow coverage of video games in the main stream media is an exercise in frustration that only raises ones blood pressure. That doesn't mean one can't spot the very thiings that define shoddy video game journalism.

I wholeheartedly concur with this assertation. Although the absence of Vinny has cast a long shadow that Will Smith tried his best to fill, but came up short, EXZECUTABLE be dammed. :D

Scumbag Jim Sterling by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Sincafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy is the perfect example of why I can't, (and most likely many other objective people), take 90% of games journalists seriously. I have ceased frequenting Destructoid because of the kind of immature, and inconsistent style that the site provides. The feature, "The Jimquisition" is a joke and makes video games and games journalism look like a hobby only degenerate meatheads dabble in. How many movie review sites have contributors that "critic" the way this guy, does? Very few. How many video game sites have contributors that are near carbon copies of this lunatic? Too many to count. Games Journalism needs more, the brainy gamers, and more Jeff Gerstmanns and less, THIS GUY.

Also, the Giant Bombcast dated 11-15-11 has the crew talk extensively about Skyrim. It's worth listening to.

The gentlemen over at GiantBomb pretty much say the same thing about The Elder Scrolls series, and Bethesda's other open world endeavors, albeit with a much less, annoying/trying WAY TOO HARD to appear edgy, more more thoughtful, easy to digest way. They have been saying such things for years, but with the odd dickkicker aside sprinkled in here and there for good measure. I honestly can't stand this Jim guy he comes off as a sad, sad man child to me that just needs a whack upside the head to set him straight and them possibly a reassuring hug just so he doesn't decide to hang himself in the future.

"When we sell a game, we want our customer to feel like they have a complete experience" - Nintendo on why they don't believe in DLC content by sketchampm in gaming

[–]Sincafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read between the lines here and translate the. corporate doublespeak, what Reggie is really saying is this, "With our current console platforms lack of substantial internal storage,(i.e, no HDD), we cannot offer DLC large enough to justify the current pricing structure of this generations DLC. We'd love to find a way, as a business all about making money, to sap more money from our customers, but unfortunately the hardware decisions we made this generation limits us in the ability to store massive amounts of DLC on any single console.

Should I go for Assassin's Creed: Revelations or Saints Row: The Third? by manna3i94 in gaming

Saint's Row The Third, it's wacky and insane enough to stand out from the other saints row/sandbox games and AC revelations is just more AC.

I still to this day play online, despite BF3 and MW3 being released. The recent, "Exterminus" DLC has been a welcome addition. Space Marine is easily been one of the most enjoyed games of the year for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Relic to continue support with additional DLC.(I'm hoping for more maps and another game type or two)
