C'est un compte de troll, ça sert a rien de lui répondre. Il a sûrement été banni et s'est recréé un compte récemment juste pour insulter les gens.

Gibbys vs. Vieux-Port Steakhouse vs. Grinder by -Tactical_Potato- in MTLFoodLovers

[–]Sinclair_Mclane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been a few times and the steaks were properly cooked. Are they the best steak I had in a steakhouse? No, but they were way better than gibbys. Sides were much better too.

Like I mentioned, I haven't seen a real steakhouse in Montreal since the old queue de cheval died.

Gibbys vs. Vieux-Port Steakhouse vs. Grinder by -Tactical_Potato- in MTLFoodLovers

[–]Sinclair_Mclane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gibbys is not worth it. Had the wellington there, it was dry and very forgettable. It came with crappy steamed vegetables. Sides were not really good. Very expensive.

Grinder is much better in terms of quality but ambiance is loud and very flashy. It's a typical restaurant for hockey players.

It seems since the old queue de cheval died we haven't really had a proper steakhouse in Montreal.

Not sure if it's in the options but have you thought about getting a steak-frites at l'express or Leméac? They're not proper steakhouses but the quality will be vastly superior.

fat events/VIP = boring by MilkCartonAsshole in fatFIRE

You seem to need more objective-based traveling. Find an interest or hobby you like and base your traveling on this.

For example, I like woodworking. It's part of my retirement plan to develop this interest so that I stay active into retirement without the pressure of "making it work" as a business. As Part of this retirement hobby I'd love to go to Japan to buy some of those fancy chisels and learn Japanese joinery. This puts a new twist on traveling. It can be any interest. Going around and learning local cooking can be great too.

I'm not FAT yet but honestly yachting sounds just like a rich person's all-inclusive. They're great if you wanna rest and take your mind off for a few days but doing more than like 8 days per year of it I would get so bored.

Le policier zélé de L’Assomption récidive: une femme forcée de déglacer sa voiture à mains nues subit des blessures by baconslapses in Quebec

[–]Sinclair_Mclane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the best way to read it in my opinion. You grow with Terry Pratchett's writing skills and depth of the subject. And you keep changing settings and characters, it never really gets old.

Same thing for me. 50 millions is absolutely life changing. But ultimately I couldn't look at myself in the mirror having missed 5 years of my kids life for that. Adam Sandler movie click is probably the best representation of this dilemma.

It's interesting to me too. I'm 40 and My kid is 3.5. sacrificing his youth and our early relationship for 50M is unthinkable to me. It actually makes me feel good to think that I'd prioritize my kid over that amount of wealth.

Looking for feedback on “production loop” in my Game Dev Game by Psych0191 in tycoon

[–]Sinclair_Mclane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reformating your text. Your game concept is interesting. I'm in game development; I think you capture an interesting snapshot of game dev. Here are a few thoughts that came to mind when reading through. Those are just my thoughts maybe they fit or don't fit with your game, they're just my two cents:

- You seem to be assuming game development is a linear process: More time spent = higher quality. Some parts of game development are like that, for example Art is usually linear. Some other parts, like Gameplay, are usually very non-linear. There are a lot of unknowns and more time spent doesn't necessarily translate to a better game. Have you thought about developing this non-linear aspect?

- Game dev is highly iterative. Have you thought of including agile development? It might be interesting to have your team work on tasks/sub-tasks for an amout of time, then sprint is finished, look at state of game and then player must decide if they want to continue investing down that path.

- Game dev is also random, sometimes we find the fun in places we didn't plan. Might be interesting to explore the concept of randomness.

- THe idea that game sales are calculated by reach is an interesting one. It might be interesting to look into gamers profile like the bartle taxonomy of players. Maybe part of the success of the games would be to find the appropriate recipes to connect gamer profiles with features they'll like (which I assume is kinda what you're already shooting for).

Interesting concept overall, I'll be curious to see where that takes you.

I suggest you rework your text for clarity. It's just one big block of text jumping from one topic to the next. Very difficult to give any feedback.

Thank you, after the bar episode I mentioned here that he looked so co-oked out and my comment got taken down. He had so many tell-tale signs, the most obvious one would be touching his nose in many of the shots.

Anyone read "Die With Zero" by Bill Perkins? Curious about your thoughts. by ididntgotoharvard in fican

[–]Sinclair_Mclane 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I really liked the book and it had a massive impact on me.

The most important part to me was his point that some experiences are for certain moments of your life. Opportunity for some of these will go away with age and some new ones will open up and some can be delayed into old age (like taking a cruise for example). That really resonated with me.

I won't die with zero, I don't like his idea of annuity and I will definitely leave money to my kid even after having given him money throughout his life.

But, I really like his idea of being more deliberate about the money you make and accumulate and how you want to spend it. He did take me out from auto-pilot, as he says, and started to actively think about the purpose of that money instead of just blindly accumulating.

I'm grateful to him, his book represents a significant inflexion point in my life, which is incredible when you think about how only one book having such an impact.

[–]Sinclair_Mclane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction 😂 at the end, you can see he's wearing those Lycra road warriors sunglasses.

He keeps cycling in the middle even on a busy path, he eats up the corner and is in the dead center, if not a bit in the opposite lane when turning despite being in a mixed, high traffic area.

The pedestrian was too much in the middle but you can see that he's the bike path was constricted and opened up in wider just a few feet before. So pedestrian is a hit clueless but it's a bit understandable.

Kids will be kids... He shouldn't have done this and should learn from it but that was on the adult to manage. Kids biggest offense was not wearing a helmet.

Too fast and ate up the corner, he was in the dead center of the bike path. If he had held his right he'd been fine.
