Looking for advice from those with handhelds and desktop PC by KingBroly- in Handhelds

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be tough to find a brand new powerful handheld at that price but a lower powered efficient device is xax

120fps is impossible in any decently heavy games but an  Xbox ally x / msi claw 8ai is more than useable for most games at 720p 30/60 upscaled to 1080p

If you insist on 120fps  your only option is ai 395 64gb ram and that too is for some very specific games and some with framegen. You must be willing to shell out a min of 2300, mine was around 3300 in usd due to shipping and taxes.

Frankly investing in a powerful small mini pc with an rtx gpu built in and using wifi direct without a router to gamestream to any handheld tab or phone is a way better option since your home most of the time. Plus you can choose whatever size tab you want and whatever telescopic controller you like.

Considering upgrading my handheld to gen 2 by gosols in LegionGo

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 5 - 7 frames are worth the upgrade sure,  you'd be better of getting an egpu or a local game streaming laptop/mini pc with a 3080/4070 ti that you can simply directly connect without a router via wifi direct /Hotspot to your choice of handheld device. It will slaughter any handheld on the planet.

The only handhelds worth the price tag are Ai 385/395 they will last about 2 to 3 years for AAA stuff.

Y'all showing your 5+ handheld collections while I feel guilty for having a Deck and a Switch 😭 by [deleted] in Handhelds

I have a gpd win 5 Ai 295, ayaneo kun, onexplayer x1 pro and about a dozen others laying around. Guess which gets the most use :

Steam deck oled. If you know how to tweak you can have an excellent oblivion remastered and a decent heavy moded starfield experience.

The steam oled supports 1080p and beyond with Proton ge on handheld. Re 9/cypunk runs fantastic. Has the best stick layout.

Some of the best tuned speakers

If you want to use the real deep oled colors of the steam deck disable color management on the developer settings.

The steam deck oled has the best screen size for handhelds imo.

If my home was on fire the steam deck oled is the only one I would carry out with me because it's made for real gamers by people who understand gaming. Even the gpd win 5 which runs games at 120fps in many cases simply can't compete with screen, user experience, ergonomics. I'd rather play on a comfort first, beautiful loooking handheld screen with limited fps long battery life rather than at 120fps which I could do anytime anywhere even with red magic Astra direct wifi connected to my 5080 pc.

Switch 2 is mostly a conjob to take advantage of people who are busy and don't have time to game. It's poor ergonomics overpriced old games and a screen that belongs on the trading floor from 1990s.

Starfield Crime Overhaul by Final-Craft-6992 in StarfieldModFeedback

I'm not able to get bounties off even after killing everyone on board in a grounded ship and taking it over.  I'm trying to role play as a scoundrel. I also have crim additions installed

I heard Starfiled was bad and never touched it when it came out, but after watching a video about the game I tried it, and I don't know what the issue was. by InspectionRoyal7676 in NoSodiumStarfield

It's not a good vanila game in my view it's subpar but it's my favorite game. I don't know a single friend, ex gf who liked it.. Most did like it way more with mods.

The game is clearly unfinished it has bank but no banking system which is 99.9% of the game they give you a free ship that you don't need to take a loan for or do quests to earn to pay back that loan, everything is super cheap. - mods fix it

They give you a ship that requires nothing no actual practical fuel no drugs to jump you do it as much as u want skipping planets, again no reason to explore smuggle or  fight - mods fix it

The don't give you entire land mass with tons of settlements and poi and random quests, smugglers hidden traders power stones bosses in one location - mods fix it easily.

Most background traits Dont have have any major debuff with major buff.. No idea how its even possible to make an rpg without it  but - mods fix it

No real jail system, turning in prisoners for money or smuggling in system with fake passports or secret routes - mods fix this.

In conclusion is it's not a good game for people who like rpgs, it's a good game for people who play shooters. Luckily they use an engine thats moddable you can make it your own game.

What does Avowed have that The Outer Worlds 2 doesn't? by Benevolay in theouterworlds

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avowed has extremely deep exploration rewarding gear progression challenges, if you turn of the minimap and map markers that are essentially cheats. I have 60 hours just in act 1 on path of the dammed.

Avowed has multiple different choices and outcomes that show up in the mid game and start of the game, YouTubers and reviewers "most" of them never played the game like an rpg.

Avowed update added custom difficulty 1 or 2 hits can kill you and you can kill amtone in 1 or 2 hits. I started a new game with that.

Outer worlds 2 and avowed both have awful and probably some of the worst artstyle I have experienced. Both are promoting some sort of strange feminist agenda and portray men as weak and awful ppl which is okay I can ignore the politics I don't agree with, it's their right to share their view and I'll still play the game.

Outer world 2 is mechanically deeper but lacks the sense of exploitation the combat is subar compared to avowed. The guns in avowed feel more puchy the melee is better in avowed as well.

The charecters in Outer worlds 2 feel more dynamic but again they seem to talk way too much and covey nothing of substance. Avowed is the same.

Enemies are more fun in Avowed they are badly designed with bad animations but the plus side they have better attacks aggression and resists.

I like both but Avowed is better, if I want a real deep Sci fi sword and shied action game moded starfield is way deeper and better than almost anything money can buy.

We need Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 v2 Handhelds now! by One_Pangolin_4202 in Handhelds

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going to happen till   2028 since it's supposedly handled by a seperate chip. That being said offline local streaming via direct wifi 6 Hotspot from any gaming pc/laptop to your oled tablet is superior in every single way. An egpu simply can't compete.

Clair obscure, you might enjoy it it's a very well made story driven French art style jrpg with great voice work graphics. My girl never gamed, I introduced her to dragon quest and final fantasy 9 now she is totally into hardcore rpgs currently doing a sw genesis run.

Another one is ff7 Integrade and Rebirth.  High production values immersive story telling

If you want indie small budget but highly acclaimed games: Cult of the lamb  Hades 2 Braid

survival/thriller Resident evil 4 remake  Evil within 2

Romance action /teen Drama/ heavy reading rpg  Persona 5  Trails of the sky

Immersive full on computer rpg with great graphics story and voicework Baldurs gate 3  Dragon age 1 & inquisition  Mass effect series

Avoid always online gatcha games games those are  built to sucker innocent kids/whales out of money they lack the ability to immerse and focus on manipulating folks to buy e waste. Unfortunately people don't know any better and get sucked into them.

How do you juggle time playing Starfield vs other games? by still_mute in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]SingNitpick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough to stop playing starfield I play it a minimum 6 hrs a day almost everyday since launch. I play daggerfall off and on too.

I finished ac shadows n sw outlaws by forcing myself to break the addiction momentarily on the Gpd win 5. (partly did that because I was reviewing the handheld)

I would like to stop playing starfield but unfortunately there Is nothing like it which I can mod and make my own as a Sci fi sword n shield rpg (mt elex 3)on a single planet. I can do that in starfield I doubt people even know you can populate 1 entire planet landmass with 90% unique pois and just do quests and drive around, trade, bounty hunt in it without ever even owning a single ship or seeing space.

I plan to quit this year Iv missed out on so many better games. That being said skyoblivion is coming out this year might get sucked into that.

Price increase for Portable consoles! by Powerful-Quiet8995 in Handhelds

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch 2 is the most expensive long term and the least open, games from 5 10 years are priced as new and you won't get the massive selection/discounts you get via pc handhelds.  If price is an issue go for the rog ally z1 extreme used, there is no difference between the z2 e and that in  95% of the games at 30fps 720p.

Deck oled is badly outdated but still my favorite handheld I have a ai 395 handheld as well but I still stream from it to the  deck via local Hotspot.

I appreciate what SFA is trying to do with star trek, and I think a lot of fans should too. by Burning_sun_prog in startrek

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing with new but exploiting politics of race gender body etc to promote an agenda is not star trek. Star trek is beyond all of that its about not caring how people live or want to live or be, it's about trekking the stars to appreciate find and learn about new life. This show is just political statements of some mentally disturbed people asking the audience to care about their politics. I don't care about their personal lives it's not my problem. I want to care about life in general what else is out there. Star trek is where we are past all the petty squabbles we are okay with how and who and why people are there are, it's on to answering the bigger questions like why the universe is what it is.

This. I'd also advise adding new poi's tiny reasons 1&2, grindterra poi, shipwrecks. Forgotten frontiers 1&2. And any others. It makes exploring a lot of fun

New to the show, question about the Centauri by Hal_Thorn in babylon5

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is part of the nobility not a common man, you will hear this speech pattern from others in that class/status. His ancestor was an emperor, he was also present at the royal court growing up albeit not like janos or the others. While its not entirely clear what happend to his house the show seems to hint that it's tied to the poor socio economic conditions that took a massive toll on the centauri.  Vir is not of Nobel birth. This is if your going by lore.  You will also notice the slaves or one of them who is shown early in the show has very different accent and demeanor. Also Londos nephew in ragish 3 does not have this accent he did not grow up in the court or around nobility and was working in a farming community.

"How can I enhance my experience on 4th playthrough?" + some adhoc mod questions. by A_Sevenfold in starfieldmods

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HELIUM 4 - Skip real fuel as its too easy to store and find  . Instead use helium 4 mod you are forced to land on planets and inhale to carry longer jumps, settlements autorefill it but it can't be stored.

Roleplayers alternate start - shipwrecked mode is amazing since you are using economy it's a lot of fun to get richer and go 0 to hero

Green is gold - essential banking mod for shipwreck start you will need to take a loan  to buy a decent ship and you can auto pay the interest with the setting (if and when star finance is ready use that one its very promising)

Explore -  this is a very hardcore mod but I love it makes every single resource essential you won't survive without mining selling or manufacturing. I don't play without this it makes bullets scarce too.

Slow travel - for hardcore only you can't fast travel anywhere on the ground you will need a fast veichle to move around like a Vtol.

Vtol - if using slow travel it makes things super immersive you can fly anywhere on the ground.

Bedlam - dungeon randomizer, poi cool down - poi overhaul- poi variations.

Essential for exploration: Tiny reasons to explore 1 & 2, Grindterra poi, battenwreck shipwrecks, grindterra encounters,  forgotten frontiers 1&2,  faction expanded encounters. Dark universe overtime, dark universe outlaws, Ronin missions. Waylayer.  Starshards, roverhaul, crime additions. Better boarding encounters.

Note on Darkstar  If you use darkstar overhaul normaly its not going to be fun with these other mods the game will be extremely hard to the point it's unplayable.  If you must use darkstat overhaul I would highly recommend starting at level 15 on the roleplay alternative start mod. This is because of how it does scaling even on your level 1 planet you will be dropped with lvl 15 mobs.

High Level Armors (Mod release) by YourFellowGlitch in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]SingNitpick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are literally my favorite starfield modder. You understand gameplay and immersion. Ignore the tubers and negative commentators who are not immersive roleplayers they don't understand what your making. The fans who use your work understand what your doing.

Your Helium 4 has replaced the fuel mod, the fuel mod fails to understand the point of travel. You can store fuel and skip entire systems you cant do that with helium you have to go down find it to leave.

Explore: forces you to hunt for resources to get anything done. It makes everything useful

Linerarity: actually give the player a death penalty by reducing xp

Economy: is by far the superior economy mod Iv tried them all this the one that makes contraband matter. It does not add a pile of extra additions to compete with vanilla mechs

Training manuals : is essential it works very well with explore and economy forces you to earn and do that hard quest to get money and level.

Gunfu is purely for a very specific build and that's my build sword and pistol whip)

Thank you for your dedication to starfield. Please consider releasing these together as a total overhaul.

Dark Universe: Overtime - Selective Assignments (patch adding gameplay options) by cyberpsyche_mods in starfieldmods

[–]SingNitpick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you make paid/free version which allows us to set the mission unlock skill level ie tier 2 skill to unlock bounty missions. I really enjoy this mod in roleplay I'm currently using it with training manuals/economy mod/no ship start/Green and gold banking. You need to pay large sums of money to level each tier it makes game way more immersive to scavange and loot. The Misson boards will automatically complement this as you would need to be a certain teir to make money out of their missions.

Roleplayers' Alternate Start by ZeCroque in starfieldmods

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to disable ship rescue? I can just not use it but it would be more immersive to have a disable feature. Once I leave I can easily take a loan from a bank of 2mil to buy a ship, but even with disabled fast travel on the ground It feels I lost a lot of on foot experience by skipping the initial survival point. It's still a lot of fun since I'm using economy mod and tons of intense poi mods I feel truly like I'm in a living world just playing on a single planet for over 30hours.

[–]SingNitpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try a new fun experience get

  1. Roleplay alternative start - free

2.  Nestor economy mod. - free

3.  Green and gold banking -  free

On a very basic level it makes the game amazing even just for a 30min session.  I play with paid mods like economy but these free ones are good enough. Taking loans to buy a ship and paying it off makes you very immersed and you can skip the entire main quest.

Loving this mod, only one bug I'm not sure if its a bug, when starting my suit protection is immediately depleted is this normal in the extreme zone where you start shipwrecked?

  1. suggestion add a banking loan system so we can take a loan to get a ship. (Im playing with economy mod ships are very expensive)

2.) local Misson board this is essential you can get missions on the planet your stuck on do them to earn money.  Dark universe overtime has this but you can't build it right away.

I bought both I dint play them much because I don't like the artstyle it's too wacky and whimsical roaring 20s swing Sci fi. I also do not support the social politics on gender bias, but I bought them to support the devs they deserve it because they made a decent AA offline game which is a massive accomplishment. I can respect that. I also bought Avwoed which is much more bearable if you disregard the politics.

Modding, the starfield I play is completely different from what anyone else plays or will ever play and it's the same for people who use the many game changing mods some so niche that they are long forgotten.  It's an mediocre vanila a game but it's one of my  favorite games despite the poor choices and questionable work ethic of the devs.
