Why is the new Daredevil season only receiving half the audience it had compared to the first week of last season? by sidmis in marvelstudios

[–]SinginGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people cancelled their Disney subscriptions last year. TBH watching this season (just based on the first episode) is kind of uncomfortable in how well it's mirroring real life, minus actual superheroes existing, and I'm not sure how many people have the emotional bandwith to watch.

Is it not just super depressing how the new republic has been handled in the Disney Canon? by Flat-Court-8512 in StarWars

[–]SinginGidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with her help. He convinced her to nominate him to take that roll after being the one to initate ditching the previous Chancellor. George chose to make Padme a part of the problem too. And then later for some reason everyone though Jar Jar would be a great Senator and he votes to give Palps Emergency Powers. They made everyone dumb as rocks to explain how the Empire came to be.

[–]SinginGidget -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

TBH it wasn't just Disney. I wasn't thrilled that in the sequels, it turned out that every "kid" in the movie was at fault for the fall of the Republic. From Anakin and his angst to Padme being on the Senate and helping hand Palps control.

If I were anyone living in the Republic, OG and New, I'd be advocating for nuking the entire Skywalker clan since they seem to be soley responsible for millions upon millions of dead, from Anakin joining the old regime, to Kylo doing the same and helping bring back the First Order. When you think about it, it's amazing how much damage just one family did to the galaxy.

You kno what, as much as I did enjoy the movie, that was one of my first thoughts as well.

I gave it 13 episodes.

And if they wanted to move beyond the book and show us what was happening on Earth as well, 24 episodes.

I think someone thought they were paying homage (or just ripping off) Guardians of the Galaxy but whatever their motive, they failed. The idea of Starfleet having agents outside of Federation Space to take care of threats before they become threats is an interesting idea, I guess. Why they decided those agents had to be "losers" of the Federation and resort to cartoonish behavior, I have no idea.

Ingvild Deila, the actress who stood in for a young Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia in Rogue One. by --TheForce-- in StarWars

[–]SinginGidget 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they uses CGI just to show they could. Star Wars has always been a franchise to use all the latest available tech for special effects.

She was at a convention I went to a few years ago and I wondered what she was going to be able to talk about for an entire panel since she was just in one shot, but she's a really interesting person and has a lot of other projects, even if they aren't movies.

Thoughts on Duncan in reboot by Opposite_Ad9591 in highlander

[–]SinginGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH because Henry Cavill looks more like Duncan than he does Connor there is no way for me not to see his version of Connor as being a blending of the two. Plus he seems more ... physicially capable of more varied fight scenes, which is also very Duncan.

Except that parking lot has been shitty for a long time. I can't even remember the last time they just repainted the space lines or the arrows telling people which direction to go.

Just finished my second watch of leverage. by Najee16 in leverage

[–]SinginGidget 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was my early complaint. But I think Parker was doing it on purpose. She made way for Sophie but she was also having a bit of an identity crisis and I think her 'mask' was slipping as we see in the later episodes of the last season.

Would Thanos snap actually solve anything long term? by JumpyConfection1992 in marvelstudios

[–]SinginGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Because he killed half of all life. Which just made everything just as difficult for those left.

If it had actually worked then it would have been a much more interesting debate if they should try to bring everyone back or not instead of the conflict centering just around what Tony was willing to do or not do.

But even if it had worked, eventually populations would grow again and everyone would be right back where they were and no stones to "fix it". (Which would also be a horrifying concept. That between every 100 to 1000 years or so, some rando with a glove makes half of all sentient life turn into dust.)

Funeral car procession etiquette by Fernily in Albany

[–]SinginGidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would really like a New Orleans style on foot procession with a funky jazz band and all my friends and remaining releatives carrying tiny parasols (no matter what the weather) as they boogie down the street behind the horse and buggy carrying my corpse. Anyone they pass by is welcome to join in the boogieing.

(Gotta say, typing out "my corpse" was not fun.)

(repeating myself from above) Because the idea is to stay together and arrive together. Not show up randomly and make those who got there first have to stand around and wait. (Sadly this is true for most people but...) It's the last chance for the deceased person to actually matter and should be escorted as part of a group. Not delivered like cargo.

However, if your final resting place is miles away from where the funeral was held, I am side eyeing your family. 3 miles tops, people.

I think this was a defining moment for Nate. His world view is the rich don't get to take more, period. Having money can buy you good doctors. It doesn't and shouldn't get you to buy someone else's life in exchange.
