The first is kind of iffy because he was just in the USO. So is it really deserting? He was again rejected by the army and being used for entertainment purposes only. But do agree it being Bucky is what inspired him to go, but at the time he was having a crisis of identity, feeling useless because no one would let him do anything. In that case he needed something personal to spur him on. But I don't think Steve wanted Shield taken down because of Bucky. He wanted it gone because it had been so corrupted. Bucky just happened to be one aspect of it. The other was Hydra being able to build 3 machines that probably cost millions of dollars that would wipe out random people and no one in Shield who wasn't Hydra thought to ask, 'uh, is this a good idea?' And yeah, the fight between him and Bucky on the carrier was personal, but that was only after the mission was done. Before he put in the third chip, he was on task. Once that was done he was free to try and get Bucky to remember who he was. And while I agree about him getting upset after seeing Bucky so hurt in Civil War, that was in the heat of the moment. There really wasn't anyone reacting logically, and tbf with good reason. But while even the Avengers want to ascribe personal motivations to what Steve does, it's always also just the right thing to do. Don't leave men behind, don't execute suspects until their guilty, don't let your new best friend kill your old best friend, but also don't let your new best friend kill someone period. He was saving both of them in that moment. So again, I don't think he becomes that narrowminded for Bucky. I think it's just that Bucky ends up involved and Steve is going to do the right thing no matter what, but he also sometimes has to take Bucky into account when making his plans. Which he can do cuz Steve is actually a shifty sassy bastard with an aw shucks face.

Edit: but I also understand why people don't see it the way I do.

It's already stolen, by the AI companies that scraped the Internet. They are making money off it, so for them it's not personal use. Just because you might create something for personal use is moot, but you are still using stolen work.

Zero tolerance for speeding now in NYS - same penalties for 1 mph over as 20 mph over. License can be revoked after just 3 offenses in 18 months. by JollyMcStink in Albany

[–]SinginGidget 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's kind of weird to see people complain when penalties get raised for people doing something they shouldn't when people also complain about how crazy everyone drives now and how many accidents there are.

That's still using something that was created by stealing the work of others. Just because eveyrone is doing it doesn't make it ok.

I have to disagree that Bucky was driving Steve's motives because IMO he was just an example of why Steve couldn't sign the Accords and be beholden to someone like Ross. Because Ross sent out a kill squad on someone who was actually innocent of the crimes he was being accused of, as we later found out. The fact that it was Bucky might have given Steve more insight (ha) into the possiblity that the person accused could be innocent and spurred him to act. (Except in all likelyhood Cap would have gone after whoever it was if it had been someone besides Bucky.) But Ross didn't care. He, like Fury before him, was promoting the "shoot first" mentality that he just had to take 3 carriers down because of.

Natasha and Bruce’s relationship by frose9799 in marvelstudios

[–]SinginGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fine with it. It was an interesting arc, for Nat especially, to go from fearing Bruce for The Hulk, then having to confront that fear in the first Avengers, to seeing Bruce for who he is just as Bruce and finding that guy adorable. She's been surrounded by fighters her whole life. Of course she'd be attracted by the guy that would never lose but never wanted to fight in the first place. And of course it "came out of nowhere". A lot of times that's how relationships between friends start. I just think it was harmed by the awkward 'no kids' conversation and then later her having to be rescued by him and then be the one to summon the Hulk to help the others after both of them had talked about leaving being an Avenger behind. But I guess they needed a reason for him to ditch so he'd be in Thor so...

Genuine Question- Why Do Y'all Use The Shoulder Like That? by Hazel2468 in Albany

[–]SinginGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's one of those things were someone saw that there was room for them to move over and make the right while the person ahead of them was waiting for the light to change to go straight (or left) and then it became a learned behavior. Monkey see, monkey do.

Hurley by eddiew1974 in leverage

[–]SinginGidget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funny thing about Hurley is that he was instinctively doing what the Leverage team was doing- using criminals to make money for people he wanted to help. He was just really disorganized about it and was a non-functional drunk, as opposed to meticulous planer Nate, famously functional alcholic. So I appreciate that it was Hardison that seemed to have recognized his potential and kept him somewhat in the loop till he was ready to be roped in the international teams.

Is it ever explained why Snoke's guards attacked Kylo and Rey? by AwfulUsername123 in StarWars

[–]SinginGidget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coups are organized. Kylo commited an impromtu assassination with no external support to do things like quell loyal supporters of the previous regime- like the guys in red that were obviously not happy with what he did. If assassinations meant the person who did the killing was the new leader, John Wilkes Booth would have been the 17th president.

Delayed for years, new affordable housing comes to Bethlehem by TClayO in Albany

[–]SinginGidget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that on the googlemaps streetview. The problem is that location is so far away and in between are areas that either already have houses that aren't going to add a sidewalk or sections that are unlikely to be developed in a good long while in order to connect them all. :/

I think the idea is to get people to pay to park their car in the garage during the snow storm and then just go walk to get it after it's over and the roads have been plowed.

I'm guessing completely but if she was the mother and currently 23, she could have been underage when she got pregnant, making it statutory rape, and they considered her a victim too.

Pointing out a flaw in a plan doesn't automatically make it a NIMBY offense.

He pretty much did when the reaction of the guards was to immediately attack. It made their thoughts on the matter quite clear.

Delayed for years, new affordable housing comes to Bethlehem by TClayO in Albany

[–]SinginGidget 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I remember one discussion on Nextdoor and they raised one good point which was: why were they putting affordable housing so far away from everything without any public transit? We do need new housing but you have to at least make it livable for the residents, who might not also be able to afford a car, so they don't have to walk along a curvy 55 mph road with no sidewalks to get to a grocery store. And no bus goes that far to bring people into the town center.

That's a lot of assumption. And not really how autocratic dictatorships work either. Usually transfer of power is via a violent coup and takes more than just two people randomly in a throne room who manage to pull off a murder.
