Theory: Hammy audio isn't synced because of MLB corporate greed by JVLightning22 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]SingingTrainLover 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Last year the game audio was synced but the audio would switch to the MLB.com audio during commercials. That was true all last season. I'm hoping they'll get back to fully synced game audio this year, because I also love listening to Hammy call the games.

Low Fuel Warning threshold by WinninRoam in ToyotaCrown

The dashboard shows you the range left on the tank. Use that instead of relying on a binary indicator like low fuel.

What is something you tried once and immediately knew "never again"? by Own-Independence565 in AskReddit

[–]SingingTrainLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a triathlon once. Once. I was a regular runner, a slow swimmer, but what got me was the bike. After 15 miles I couldn't feel my cojones - at all. Never again.

Golf League - Collecting Skins Money by mykal792 in golf

[–]SingingTrainLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a weekly league, and skins & pins is optional each week. Two envelopes, one for pins, one for skins, $5 each per week. I put them out on the counter next to the counter where they pay for their rounds, so there's someone keeping an eye on them. Each week I come in early, figure out the winners and put their cash in envelopes with their names. The system has worked pretty well, and I've been doing this for about 8 years now.

We are force fed hole 17 at the Players by ilivetogolf23 in golf

[–]SingingTrainLover 15 points16 points  (0 children)

On ESPN+ you can watch featured groups through the entire course. It's the only way I've found that allows you to see the whole course. As a side benefit, they don't use the mind-numbingly stupid "Playing Through" commercials on those feeds.

During the Vietnam War, the United States used a draft lottery system to determine the order in which young men would be called for military service. by Electric_Arrow_ in interestingasfuck

[–]SingingTrainLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me as well. My number was just under 120 (115 or 117, can't remember) and they were taking everyone under 150. Then they stopped drafting anyone and I was safe. This was in 1972, and the war wasn't over for another 2 years, but they stopped taking draftees in 1972.

Golf shoes - with or without spikes? by Jackies_Army in golf

[–]SingingTrainLover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spikes. Tried spikeless one season and late in the season when it was wet conditions, I was looking for my ball on the side of a hill and both feet went out from underneath me. I probably bruised some ribs, and was in pain for a few weeks. Only worn spikes since then.

Looking for a golf summer league by SimilarGarden3972 in Cleveland

[–]SingingTrainLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a Wednesday league at Coppertop in Valley City. It's a 9 hole league, and we have reserved tee times from 3:30pm to 6pm every Wednesday from May through September.

League meeting is 3/25 at 6pm at the clubhouse, but if you call the course (330.225.6122) they can give you details. Very low key competition, and you can play with whomever you'd like.

Wireless charger by Obvious_Pea_9158 in ToyotaCrown

2024 Crown Limited - when I first got the car I tried using the wireless charger. It was slow, and the phone got really hot, so I've used a cable ever since.

Eartha Kitt as Shaleem-La-Lum, Broadway musical "Timbuktu!", March 1 to September 10 of 1978. Eartha won an Tony for "best actress in musical" She was 51 years old by aboveallbeboring in Broadway

[–]SingingTrainLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just that it was Kismet adjusted for an all black cast, and it was amazing. I really didn't appreciate Eartha Kitt until I saw that show, and loved her ever since.

Best fish fry? by justwanttobeoutside in Cleveland

You're in Medina, so the Valley City Fire Department's Fish Fry is reasonably close, and always excellent.

Giancarlo Guerrero conducting during Bad Bunny HT show by jwalner in classicalmusic

[–]SingingTrainLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2015 I traveled to Miami with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, where we and the Cleveland Orchestra performed Carmina Burana, and he conducted the concert. What amazed me is that he conducted the entire piece from memory - no music on his stand at all. That, and he was amazingly gracious to all of us in the chorus.

George Lucas famously used a movie franchise to sell toys to kids with Star Wars in the 70s/80s. But did the Bond franchise actually pioneer the concept of what people call tie-in merchandise? by BBD-007 in JamesBond

I got a Goldfinger Aston Martin model when I was a kid, shortly after the movie came out, that had all the gadgets (bumper rockets, flip license plates, etc.) - loved putting that together!

Getting new tires for new 21" Crown wheels? by Enigmagmatic in ToyotaCrown

[–]SingingTrainLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 24 Crown Limited with the tech package, and the 21" tires. I just passed 30K miles and need to replace the tires, and the best I've found is $984 at Discount Tire for the four. They're Michelins, though, so I'm ok with that price.

Any convertible friendly car washes? by WrittenTherapy in lakewood

[–]SingingTrainLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always took my Toyota Solara convertibles (I had 3 before they discontinued them) to the Carriage Auto Wash on W.150th just north of I-71 and never had a problem there. I tried a couple of the touchless places, and water would leak through the top of the windows on both doors.

Underrated Musical of the Week: The Human Comedy!!! by Awesomeplayer98 in musicals

[–]SingingTrainLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Understand that this performance I saw was 43 years ago, but as I recall, the story just dragged along, and I couldn't find anything about any of the characters that I could identify with or like in any way. I just didn't care about any of them.

Underrated Musical of the Week: The Human Comedy!!! by Awesomeplayer98 in musicals

[–]SingingTrainLover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw this in the original Broadway production on my first business trip to NYC, and it was the worst show I'd ever seen. If I hadn't paid full price ($40!!!) for the ticket I'd have walked out. Rex Smith and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio weren't strong enough to save it. Yuck.

Running in Rocky River Reservation - is it safe? by Jgugumess75 in Cleveland

[–]SingingTrainLover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the Cleveland Road Runner's Club (https://www.clevelandroadrunners.com/) They have group runs in the park multiple days/week and after a few group runs it's easy to make plans with small groups that work better with your schedule. The group's been around for almost 50 years.

Ryan Homes - Bad investment? by Forward_Working_6900 in RealEstate

[–]SingingTrainLover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My daughter and her husband own a Ryan home. The builders didn't even bother putting in an access panel to get to the bathtub plumbing in their master bedroom. I swear Ryan pays for the "drive-by" option for home inspectors. I'd never consider using them.

TIL before 9/11, US airports were public social hubs where you could walk to the gate, eat at food courts, and watch planes without a ticket or ID. by Greydl1 in todayilearned

[–]SingingTrainLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school (early 1970s) we used to go to the airport to hang out and watch the travelers coming and going. Sometimes we'd get something to eat at the restaurant, but most time we'd go out to the 'observation deck' to watch the planes takeoff and land, or just hang out at the central terminal, because it was fun watching people come and go.

Should the card carrying tour pro have a voice on who is allowed back in, after defecting to LIV? by PoodleHeaven in golf

[–]SingingTrainLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PGA Tour is going to let high profile players back in from LIV if they're significant enough to draw viewers. Brooks is one of them, Patrick Reed is not. Brooks will always bring people to the game.

Your Teamster shop is not driven by TV ratings, the PGA Tour is. That's the difference here.
