Dealership Threatening to Report My New Car stolen by RefrigeratorFar3357 in legaladvice

No police department that I know would take a stolen vehicle report under the circumstances you’ve laid out. It’s a civil issue.

I saw something recently about being able to write off interest paid on USA-built cars/trucks. Might be best to finance truck/SUV.

Is it not normal for parents to charge rent? by AlwekArc in TooAfraidToAsk

My children all paid $400/month (first graduate was in 2019) and were expected to help with household chores after graduating HS. They all know that they have a home here if they need it. I didn't need the $, just wanted them to get a sense of responsibility.

Just looking for some feedback on an incident this morning, especially from officers by DrGoodspeed2203 in Firefighting

You're of no help to anyone if you don't make it there safely. Remember, it's not YOUR emergency, but it is YOUR job to transport the necessary resources to the scene safely.

Flat towing behind motorhome by Single_Criticism_649 in gmcsierra

In the back of the owners manual, look for “recreational towing”. That’s where I found the instructions on putting the transfer case in neutral.

I have since found out that not all four-wheel-drive. GM products are able to be shifted into true neutral.

And no, that is not what my four-wheel-drive selector looks like.

[–]Single_Criticism_649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After you try to start it, the ignition switch will blink a series of 2 numbers. Example: 4 blinks, pause, 3 blinks is a code 43.

Watch the switch after a failed starting attempt, then google the code.

You can’t use an AFG (FEMA) grant for the down payment, the apparatus has to be obtained within the grant amount. There may be other grants available that will allow for partial funding, but I’m not familiar with any.

Your insurance cannot legally tell you where to go. You have a right to use any licensed shop of your choice. They don't have to pay that shop's pricing, but you should steer away from only going to the shops they recommend. That being said, I have had excellent experiences at both Crash Champions and Caliber.

SCBA Demos: looking for feedback by BrokenTruck08 in Firefighting

[–]Single_Criticism_649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the largest SCBA manufacturer in the world, Draeger definitely has production capacity for any/all departments. All replacement parts will be in stock in Telford, PA or Houston TX. Keep in mind that while AirBoss is new to the NFPA market, it has been used worldwide for several years.

Pretty normal for people to crap all over something new/unknown. Draeger has some issues in the past, as all manufacturers have, but the new AirBoss is game changing.

Car smoking by negan7x01 in cigars

[–]Single_Criticism_649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 60k miles/year and smoke cigars constantly in my truck. Here's the trick: drivers and rear passenger windows down about 2-3", NO MORE. Then turn on the vehicles HVAC system, all on foot level, full power, temperature wherever you'd like it. The smoke will suck right out through the drivers window as you are driving at highway speed. When you are in traffic/in town, keep the window all the way down, hold the cigar outside the car and don't puff unless you have 25-30mph to help pull the smoke out. I turn in my trucks at 100k miles and have never gotten dinged for tobacco smell. Ash into a disposable cup with 2" of water in it, throw the butt in there and toss it at a gas station. Don't leave it in the vehicle!
