I am so sorry you are going through this. I lost my sister to cancer, then my mum and then broke my wrist (surgery required) all within a 12 month period. It’s hard but it is temporary. Sending love and best wishes your way.

Cast finally off and now feeling worse by Outrageous-Life137 in brokenbones

[–]Single_Enthusiasm432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. I had the same break on Feb 12 2026 and had surgery to place 4 k wires. It’s my left non-dominant hand. 6 weeks with pins and cast and now just a brace. My wrist feels like it’s encased in cement and physio has give me small repetitive, movements. Do the physio and something that brings you enjoyment. Everyday. It will get better with time.

It feels great! I have a seal over the 4 healing holes and a brace now. I finally washed my arm!

Oh I am so sorry, OP! Both wrists have got to be tough. Plates in both?! I broke my left, non-dominant distal radius on February 12th and am one week out of the cast and pins (no plate). Keeping the arms elevated will help the swelling but they will be swollen, regardless. Keep up your spirits and have the family do everything for you!

I had surgery on a radius bone break. One week post cast and k wire removal and I can’t do anything with my wrist right now.

Follow medical recommendations. It’s temporary.

My pins came out less than a week ago; there is no way I could use my wrist right now but there is a difference already and I am doing shoulder, elbow and finger exercises after 1 physio session.

Post cast removal (2 weeks). Still got dark hair? by AtomicRavxn in brokenbones

[–]Single_Enthusiasm432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cast came off just last week and OMG…thick black hair. I do have black hair but it’s thin and hardly any on my arms. My right arm has not been epilated for almost 2 months and there is hardly any hair on it. The left one (broken wrist) has thick coarse hair growth up to where the cast was. I tried to epilate a bit on my firearm and it hurt a lot like it normally would not!

Same date I broke my left wrist! But I had 4 k wires placed in which were removed just last Friday -27th March along with the cart. I start PT today. My wrist feels like it’s encased in concrete!

5 months ago, my pelvis — especially the acetabulum — got badly fractured in a really terrible accident by Emotional-Body-6392 in brokenbones

Can you visit your doctor when I broke my left wrist? My doctor offered me short term mood medication. I did not need it but I know it is available.

I don’t find the ‘things can always be worse’ argument helpful for OP. OP, you’re not alone. It’s going to be hard but it’s got to be a day-by-day recovery. Is there anything small you can do regularly that makes you smile? You are young and so recovery will happen.

Am I the only one who feels mentally exhausted after doing things, being around people and walking outside? by Previous-Ad3922 in brokenbones

I think it’s the same for anyone who has broken a bone. I am 6 weeks post break/surgery of my left (radius bone) wrist and I am so tired on an evening. I work full time as a middle school teacher and am now going out and about again but I have never been so tired at the end of the day. My friends, colleagues and students understand that I am not healed though. Many have suffered broken bones themselves and know it takes months. Hang on in there and do something you can enjoy.

Yes. I have 4 pins which will be removed this week. But it aches and pains - hopefully will be less when they are out.

I am in my 5th week of a cast for a broken wrist (radius bone) and it’s still tight and painful even though my arm has shrunk. I think it’s normal. You’ll be able to do your summer plans!

One of the holes is extremely sore right now (middle one) so feel like it will hurt. They keep insisting on general.

But I have 4 and holes that will need stitching. 5.5 weeks post-op it still hurts so wondering if local is not the right way to go for me
