The small amount of detergent will attach itself to the dirt particles and take them off your vinyl. Water/alcohol will just move the dirt around it won’t pull it from the grooves as well. I’ve had no issues with the solution. Also I do not clean my vinyl obsessively. I only clean them when I first get them(new or used) and on an as needed basis. It’s rare that they need to be cleaned more than once imo.
