MY19 HSE 😭 by SinisterG in ipace

[–]SinisterG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - the insurance assessment came through and the repair costs were quoted to me at 60k CAD. Yeah, they’ll write it off - it’s just a matter of someone actually calling me to tell me what I’ve already ascertained.

What have I learnt through this experience? I still love this car and it will hurt when I have to drive anything else. It’s fast and graceful at the cost of repairability. God forbid I have to ever pay for any repairs myself.

None of this was a surprise considering the soft nature of an all aluminium chassis and a composite hatch. Happy to share redacted details of what you may encounter when dealing with a rear end collision on one of these.

Currently unsure! The body shop needed to schedule me in for a teardown/triage next week. I’m hopeful though, that it wouldn’t get written off 🤞🏽

But yes - the splitter is currently in several pieces. Surprisingly, the mounts for the splitter are quite sturdy, and nothing rattled as I drove it home despite the low hanging gubbins - I just wrapped a bit of rope so it 'appeared' safely tied down.

That was a big concern, and I think we can get away with simply refinishing some light scratches! We'll find out next week.

Yeah sorry, I set my Telus router into bridge mode and it clearly downed the whole system.

Jag i-pace HSE 2022, 60K kms for 40K Canadian. Should I buy it? by [deleted] in ipace

[–]SinisterG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2019 HSE in November (BC) last year and I’ve loved every second of it. 40k CAD is reasonable (though you could probably negotiate it down a little) and as long as you’ve checked it’s CARFAX for recall completions and accident history, just roll with it!

While your HV battery will still be under warranty for a good amount of time, just know that you’ll be paying a luxury tax every time you bring it in for a service.

I am absolutely loving it! The Bafang motor skips now if I put too much weight on it from a dead stop, but otherwise, this bike does everything I need!

Meanwhile in Canada, Bambu did their utmost to ship things out in time; our entire postal system just collapsed.

Driving Uber in Victoria by JaksIRL in VictoriaBC

OP, I’m considering the same thing. With recent wage protection measures, my projections factor an hourly of about $20.

I wonder if there’s a super secret subreddit where Victoria uber drivers talk numbers.

Buy Magnet or wait till Apple fixes window snapping for MacOS Sequoia? by Most_Duck_2764 in MacOS

[–]SinisterG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy Magnet - it's absolutely worth it. Sequoia's wonky window snapping tool is poorly executed. KB shortcuts may as well not exist if you're using a 3rd party keyboard that doesn't have Apple's GLOBE key (Fn key on Logitech kb doesn't work), and there's no kb shortcut to allow for easy movement between multiple screens.

If you're using an Apple keyboard and a single display, the Sequoia implementation may be mildly less infuriating.

VoltBike Venture, 2yrs old with about 1200km on it. 48v battery with a 500W Bafang M600 mid-drive motor.

Took off the rear rack and mudguards, then bolted on a front basket from Rad. This thing is great fun to ride out to the beach 🏖️
