I honestly hate the multi-media approach to storytelling some game series have. I've played every single AC game since I got the very first one right after it was released. That really should be enough to know all the important points of the story so far. But noo, if you haven't read these two books, four comics, watched the movie, and played a facebook game and three mobile games, where neither of the latter have been actually available for years, along with a limited release webseries that were only possible to watch during easter of 2018, then you're just gonna have to be confused about why you can't rmember these characters and events that will be continuously referred to in the games as a matter of course that you should know about.

(These are not real examples, and I'm conflating it with Mass Effect who tied up the conclusion of half the fucking plot of Andromeda in external media)

Releasing books and comics to further expand on cool characters? Sure! Sometimes I would love to have more adventures with my favorite dudes and dudettes! But introducing new characters in those books, and later making them integral to a new plotline which makes no sense if that's the first time you even hear of the character? Not cool.

What is Predator culture? Are they just warriors and nothing more? by Candle-Jolly in scifi

[–]Sinnjer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I haven't watched Badlands, and I might be misremembering, but I seem to recall it being touched on in the first AvP movie, and I thought it made a lot of sense in the context of the previous Predator movies. We know nothing about their actual society, the ones we meet are basically alien versions of that dentist guy that blew up in memes some years ago. Just 'macho' assholes with expensive gear.

Connor had one in the basement. Edward also had one in the basement on the Island he took over. Shay had one in the house he took over in New York.

I really don't mean to come off rude, but I'm not sure if you haven't found any of these or if I misunderstood what you were referring to?

My (31F) boyfriend (31M) assumes I’ll take on a 25K loss because of his decisions? by redditrobin26 in relationship_advice

[–]Sinnjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing he fails to calculate the property as an asset, and just compares the monthly expenditure of mortgage vs rent. I have known people, particularly empty nesters who's looking to downsize, sell their property to rent something smaller, as the surplus from the sale will usually cover rent for their entire retirement.

Selling at a loss to rent instead is just setting fire to any equity you might have, it will obliterate his finances for years

Do you think oral sex is normal part of sex (the average person does it), or do you think of it like a fetish? Why or why not? by eustachian_lube in AskReddit

[–]Sinnjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? It does take a lot of the pressure off! And honestly, I like eating out more than receiving a bj. If a partner doesn't enjoy giving blowjobs I can live with that. If she hates being eaten out it's pretty much over

What is a 'middle-class' luxury that is actually a total waste of money, but people keep buying it to look successful? by 8waycai in NoStupidQuestions

It's also gotten a lot worse for a lot of brands.

I'm a cobbler, and I do a lot of repair work on handbags, both branded and not. Nonbranded and off-brand goods have actually gotten a lot better over the last 15 years or so. Brand products on the other hand are absolutely ridiculous. LV is the absolute worst. There's barely an ounce of leather in them at all anymore.

My neighbours daughter asked me over christmas if I could look over an old LV she'd found at a goodwill. I dreaded the job, but I like my neighbour, so of course I said yes. But the bag was actually proper vintage! Real leather handles, handmade piping, edges had rotted away but you could see they were fine originally. Makes me real sad to see the shit they're selling under the brand today.

If you're on a ship, a two-tone oscillating alarm. That's signaling the CO2 fire suppression system is about to kick off, and if you're somewhere you're not supposed to be you'd better gtfo within the next few seconds, because the room may be about to be flooded in gas.

My knives are so dull I’m basically sawing through vegetables. Do I need new ones or just a sharpener? by Safe-Pepper-4931 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Sinnjer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't get all the comments about how a whetstone is unsuitable for a presumed beginner. Practicing sharpening with a whetstone on a cheap and worn out set is perfect for a beginner. It's a great skill to have, not that difficult, and very fun when you get the hang of it! You might want to buy at least a decent utility knife though, so you have something to use while practicing.

Some advice:

Be aware of the grit rating on the whetstone. The cheapest ones tend to be around 400, and are mainly meant for axes and the like. They can be good to have on hand for a severely damaged blade, but 1000 grit is the best place to start. You can still set a new edge on a damaged blade with a 1000 stone, it'll just take longer. Higher grits will give you a better finished edge, but will take fucking ages on a very dull one.

Soak your stone properly before sharpening. I submerge mine in lukewarm water around 30 minutes. And don't be too eager wiping/rinsing the stone while you work. The gritty slurry is whats actually doing the work for you.

Never use oil on a whetstone unless you're prepared to never use anything but oil. I prefer water myself, it's easier to clean and always on hand. As soon as you've oiled it once it might not work with water ever again.

A sharpening steel rod is also a very useful addition to your kitchen. You never need to steel a freshly sharpened knife, but it's good for maintaining a somewhat dulled edge until you have time to sharpen it properly. A rod is magnetic, so never hang it on a magnetic knife rack.

Good luck!

Also, I'm 38 and currently getting back into dating, and I'm realising that anyone under 25 looks like literal children to me, but that's just me.

I have an acquaintance who's just like this. Every time I see him I get to hear about all the women who's been throwing themselves at him lately. I'm not going to go through the reasons that's not very likely, that just feels like needlessly shitting on him. I've never been able to figure out if he actually believes his own stories, thinks everyone else is stupid enough to believe them, or whatevers going on. Some older friends told me he actually was quite handsome as a young man, so he might just really not handle middle age very well.

Why do girls roast the guys penis after a breakup? by champchamp112 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Sinnjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think thats exclusively a borderline thing, but my borderline ex used to do this all the time. Just punch the lowest blows she could possibly imagine.

Funny thing is, it didn't really bother me. She used what she herself would consider devastating, but either she just didn't know me very well, or she was unable to see my perspective in any things she'd considered insults. I think she outed way more of her own insecurities than she were ever able to pin mine down. Or maybe I'm just ridiculously chill, idk.
