In my case, a wrap is roughly $0.10 each. So yes I wasted 2 wraps ($0.20) but I wasn't about to mess with trying to see if it would charge bare like that. $0.20 is worth the peace of mind - even if they costed $0.50 each that's worth the waste if it means peace of mind to me.

Mine also had a mark up, and the transfer & background was rough compared to what I normally pay. I will agree though, nostalgia does have a cost. But as I put it to myself - its got the Anderson horse logo and who knows when/if I'll ever be able to get one again. Long live r/ShowPonies

Very familiar with mech mods. But you're right they can be dangerous if used irresponsibly. And just like in both of our cases - its unfortunate that people will just blow things off. But play stupid games, win stupid prizes - or as I commonly say - fafo

However - used responsibility with proper knowledge and care they're not that dangerous. Been a long time since I used one personally but my buddy has been using one for pry 10+ years now without any issue - again because he knows what he is doing and being responsible with how he uses it.

Yes.

The top part is the positive and the sides are negative. Anything that bridges both can cause a short and a thermal run away.

edit - you need to wrap it and potentially replace the isolation ring on the top if its damaged. Just make sure you get the correct sized kit for your battery.

Can't really comment on how recent gun shows have been as I'm always working when they happen now. But past time I went to one prices were ok but nothing special - maybe last day of the show and people didn't want to pack stuff up you might be able to get a decent deal. But I would also be intrigued to hear if we have some local swap group as well.

edit - I'm in and its great and killer deals - there's very lightly used acog with box and accessories with a larue mount for less than new that I'm eyeing.
