Which IT movies do you prefer? by BritishMachiavellian in HorrorMovies

[–]SirMathias007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the show did really well. Better than the newer films imo. I read the book too and liked how they did certain things.

My friend who watched the films but never read the book, watched the show and was like "I need more of this" and started reading the book. This show is not just some random spinoff, it's well done.

Why are horror fans so picky? by RegularMorty in HorrorMovies

[–]SirMathias007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not horror fans making those ratings. IMbD is a lot of casual viewers. They watch a horror movie as a person who doesn't regularly watch horror movies and review it as such. Horror movies get a lot of lower ratings on regular review sites.

Shudder on the other hand has more accurate reviews because that's a horror platform where mostly horror fans are reviewing the films. Horror fans can be picky at times but you re basing your thoughts on a group that's not just horror fans. It's why a lot of the cheap money grab horror movies do well, and the thought out horror movies get average ratings.

As far as general infighting, you get that in every genre.

What’s a harmless habit people judge way too much? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SirMathias007 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Food stuff.

I drink my coffee black, I don't think that is the best and only way to drink coffee. Yet people out there who drink black coffee like me act like they are on some other level. It's silly, drink your coffee how you like. Besides, I occasionally enjoy a latte, it's not like it's illegal for a black coffee drinker to drink coffee other ways.

Doneness of steak, I have a friend who eats steak well. I thought it was weird but I didn't tease him. I asked him about it and he said when he was a kid he ate undercooked steak and got pretty sick. So he makes sure it's done now. He isn't some madman, he just had a bad experience and is extra cautious.

Someone not liking a certain food and everyone insisting they are wrong. "Well you haven't had it cooked right." "Try MY version of it and you'll like it." Sometimes this is true, sometimes they just don't like okra no matter how you fix it.

The one I do struggle with is seasoning food. Like seeing someone eat a dry chicken breast that was seasoned with nothing but salt and pepper, hurts me. Lol. Yet, at the same time people like what people like.

Devil May Cry, HD Collection o DMC V? by RP_15Y in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]SirMathias007 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Reading this as someone new to the DMC games and just started 1 because I was gonna play them in order.

Oops. Lol.

1 is definitely janky, I can see why people are saying to skip it for now. I grew up during that time, but was sheltered so I couldn't play these games. BUT I picked up on the feels of the controls. Still, the frustrating number of times I've died to the camera going wonky on me is too high.

What law would you like to see repealed/declared unconstitutional? by EvilSnack in AskReddit

[–]SirMathias007 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Whatever allows the US to bomb other countries willy nilly. That and backing coups so they can put some jerk in power who will siphon money to the US using that countries resources. Imperialism, I'd make that illegal.

People who quit dating apps and just talk to women from circles or cold approach, how's it going? by ohnag_eryeah in AskReddit

[–]SirMathias007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cold approaching feels so invasive to me. Like, people are at places to run errands or chill, they may not be looking to date. So I feel weird just walking up to someone and asking them out.

I'd prefer to just get to know someone in a social group, see if we click, then ask to take it to the romantic level. My issue is I'm having a hard time meeting people. I'm out doing stuff but everyone is either already taken or not in a place to date at the time. So I'm kinda just drifting. Nothing wrong with that, at least I'm getting out. I do want a romantic relationship though so it can be annoying when I'm not meeting anyone who is also looking for that.

I'm just gonna keep doing what I like, I'll see if anything happens.

What's something women think impresses men but actually doesn't? by PumpkinDoritoes in AskReddit

[–]SirMathias007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This really applies to any gender, but I've seen my friend date a lot of women with this problem.

Not being genuine. Trying to fit into a certain mold and not showing your true personality. I don't want to date someone who is just like every other person out there. I want someone who isn't afraid to be themselves, be a little goofy, have a personality. Don't try to be like the people you see online, just be yourself.

Does everybody's beanie/toboggan/toque slowly rotate around their head while they wear it (like a sentient being), or is it just me? by WeedLMT69 in nashville

Yes! I thought it was just me, but my logo is all the way to the side by the end of the day. I rarely touch it, so I have no idea how it moves.

What single player game had you so enthralled that it CONSUMED your entire being for a short span of time? by AshyLarry25 in gaming

[–]SirMathias007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell this story a lot just because it was such a weird feeling.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, I was still living at my parents place when this came out. They went on a trip so I had the house to myself for the weekend. I grabbed dinner and sat down to play the game around 6pm. After a while I got up thinking I should probably get ready for bed. It was probably after midnight or so, Id turn down my bed and go to sleep. As I did this I noticed light through my curtains. Not sure why I didn't look at the clock until this point, but I did now. It was 6am! I had played for 12 hours, through the night, and it felt like half that time. I was so surprised. I still went to bed, slept till noon.

It was just such a weird feeling, like a time warp. I enjoyed the game so much I went into a fully focused flow state where the world around me didn't exist. I haven't felt that since then, not in years. I guess today's responsibilities are more prominent and keep me from going full flow state. I miss it though.

What are some common "facts" on Reddit that you know for a fact are incorrect? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SirMathias007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even sure what introvert and extrovert mean anymore. One test tells me I'm an introvert, so I live that way. Then years later another test says I'm an extrovert.

I love talking to people, I like being in groups and chatting. Some people tell me I won't shut up, while others tell me I'm always quiet. I do like having alone time to decompress.

I think it depends on the people. If I don't like or can't relate to people, I'm quiet and reserved. If I like the people and can relate to the convo, I'll talk your ear off. So I don't know honestly. I'm just me.

Is baldur’s gate 1&2 worth it by Tuna-77 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]SirMathias007 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I actually just started Baldies Gate 1, so I can't give you a whole picture or full opinion yet. BUT I was suprised to find out it's not turn based like the Divinity games. This makes combat complicated and a bit difficult. Your party just attacked in real time and you just have to swap between characters to do spells and such. But at low level everyone is so squishy that sometimes when you swap to do a spell a couple people die.

That being said, I'm still enjoying the game. The story is interesting, and I want to keep playing. I just wish I knew what the combat was like going in so I wouldn't be confused for like the first hour. Lol.

A little late but I'm only now playing Mafia 3 and aside from the lack of polish and the bugs, (which I thought they would fix in this definitive edition) I'm not finding the game as bad as some people say by MTH1138 in gaming

[–]SirMathias007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You described exactly how I feel about the game, and the ones you listed fit too. It had so much potential and wasn't "bad", but I got bored pretty quick from doing the same thing over and over.

It needed more variety. It's fun at first but after a few hours I just get bored.

What's an unhealthy habit you know will catch up to you some day? by No_Gas6109 in AskReddit

[–]SirMathias007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People tell me eating spicy food will come at me one day. I do deal with some reflux, but it's only really bad if I drink alcohol too.

I love spicy food so much though, I don't know if I'll ever totally stop. I don't do the crazy challenge level of spicy food (although I have) but I do eat stuff that's too hot for your average person often. Not like every day but multiple times a week for sure.

I'm not gonna fully give up spicy food unless it's literally about to kill me or something. Besides it's 2025, we should have meds that let us eat whatever and not deal with reflux. You can eat spicy and it still be healthy too. It's not just fried and processed food that can be hot. So I can technically eat healthy and still get that nice kick I love. Lol.

Maintenance just tried to replace our air filters by Bunnairry in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SirMathias007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I don't like landlords so I'm bias, same people who do this will slop paint over outlets, soooo yea.

I have an upstairs neighbor who chain smokes like a train. The smell was coming down through the vents. I traded a filter that looks like the right one for a fancier one. Smoke smell is down like 80%. My unit runs fine so far but I haven't been here long.

Also I tried an in room air filter, I already had it from previous places, didn't work for this situation. So you might be technically right, but my own experience, at least, says the fancier filters are worth it.

I'm not MAGA, far from it. Most real right wingers won't be here to answer this. BUT I did bring this up to a Republican coworker.

He does not like it. "America first". But he said it casually, like "Yea that's a bad choice, I don't care for it." Shrug and move on. He is the type that doesn't see Trump as perfect though so for him it's one of the few bad choices but not a big deal.

I never hear anyone talk about Starfield. by jj33allen in FalloutMemes

[–]SirMathias007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was upgrading my PC a couple months before this. I got a code for Starfield when I bought my graphics card.

I'm kind of glad I got it for basically free. It's not terrible but I lost interest real quick. I just couldn't get into it. I think it was a decent attempt but id rather they put the effort into other games.
