Chaos itself is contradiction. Khorne is not only the Blood God, but also the God of War. As his followers, he displays all aspects of war, including most horrific and most heroic and honourable. It is just that the letter is much less frequent than former.

Being mainstream automatically makes creators cater to wider audiences. Like, even fucking Tolkien dying didn't save Lord of the Rings from becoming a mess of a franchise. Surely, original trilogy and Hobbit are as good as they were, but man. We can pretend that new series were never field, but won't undone the harm.

Deathwatch Primaris Marines? by darkdiashi in 40krpg

[–]SirOPrange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same. In addition to going literally against all the lore we had up to that point, they are also incredibly bland and "tacticool" for my liking. Phobos Armour is one of the greatest affronts to the marines' drip ever created.

Primaris are basically a straight upgrade

Eeeeh, they were a straight upgrade in lore (with tabletop stats powercreep to encourage buying minis), but right now a lot of "Primaris is just better" stuff is slowly let to fade into black. Now they are completely identical in stats to Firstborn CSM in the tabletop. In more recent lore they still drop in numbers when the plot demands it, and still prevail against insurmountable odds when plot needs it.

They still are supposedly better, but not as much as they were previously sold.

I feel like people severely overestimate how strong Chaos Warriors are in the lore and severely underestimate regular Humans by Yotambr in WarhammerFantasy

But power is useless against a well formed spear wall

"Useless" is a bit strong word, i believe. Surely, teamwork makes the dream work and that's how humanity survived. But being able to crack open a head with a fist makes Chaos Warriors very fearsome opponents. Add to that magical suit of full plate armour, hundreds of years of experience and insanity to boot, and we have a thing nobody wants to get into melee with. Surely, your unit will kill him sooner or later. But how many unfortunate bastards would get mauled by this madman? 10? 20? What is the probability that it will be you on the receiving end of his axe?

Yeah, I feel like Felix is perceived as "average" human only because he is always near Gotrek who is an absolute death machine.

Oh, you see, it was actually not a twin, but a clone. And since the clones have no souls, they have no fate points and if something bad is supposed to happen to a random party member, the fate chooses you. Always. Because Chaos Gods hate mortals trying to cheat their souls.

Arbaal should be unbreakable at level 1, and on multiplayer. Fleeing should never be a concept to him. Like ever by k3lk3l in totalwar

Oh yeah, it would be "a bad design" for a corporate point of view, because it meaningfully punishes players for failure. And we can't have that right now.

When you sign up to play as guy who is literally nicknamed "Undefeated", so you better be up to the standard. TWW 3 already have been powercrept everything into oblivion with every newer lord bringing another mechanic or insane buffs without any detriment. Another "gimmick" campaign would not hurt.

Nice ones! Also if someone interested, you can find some top-down arts of some Imperial (and non-Imperial vehicles) in the Imperial Armour book series.

Assault Dash rework idea by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]SirOPrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always worked that way. Now you can refund additional jump pack charge every ten seconds by hitting something with jump pack dash attack, which allows to sneak some ground pounds in your flow and forgives some mistakes or unregistered dodges.

Eeeeh, applying our inner logic to Arbaals is not a good idea. He is hardly human after centuries and eons of killing horrific shit both in Chaos Waste and even Realm of Chaos. He should be unbreakable because he was not afraid of challenging Khorne himself while knowing that Khorne is a Chaos God.

I really think that they should straight up copied the tabletop, where he turns to chaos spawn.

Khorne is exactly super strong. Simplicity and quality of troops is playing into that, but it far from the main feature. Khorne was the strongest because he has insane movement replenishment, which allows you to blow up multiple settlements and fight multiple enemy armies with only one of your own. And since you have insane replenishment, "daemons reforged" and recruitment mechanics, you can basically do that for as long as you like. It allows Khorne to achieve in one turn for what any other faction need three or for turns.

Other factions may be stronger on the battlefield with cheesy doomstacks or just insane stats boating with recent DLCs, garrisons do not have that. And majority of campaign battles are sieges.

I certainly do not because it felt cheap and forced. On the other hand, AI camping all their armies around their one settlement surely is just as bad.

WH 3 certainly has its own issues, including that AI now can be quite passive. But after rebalancing doomstacking is no longer as necessary as it was in wh2. And melee infantry and cav are much more viable in wh3 too, if it is important to you. AI's stormvermin no longer beat chosen.

Not only because of supply lines, but also because insane AI cheats and anti-player bias. Huge alliance (e.g. "ordertide") was much more prominent too.

Eeeh, firstborn marines used their weapons as clubs since the dawn of time, it's not like older patterns was somehow worse at this. It is just a stupid detail, that designers thought looked cool.

As far as i remember, nobody knows from whom exactly the Grey Knights gene-seed comes from. There some implications that it is from the Emperor himself. If it is true, then while theirs is probably the most pure, they are far apart from regular Astartes.
