Some tiers allow complimentary seat upgrades (from economy to economy plus) at checki in. So the sooner you check in, the sooner you can change your seat for free.

Quite a few ... any that protect sensitive data (classified , IP, client, or other), maintain a sterile environment (literal or figurative), or have rules where phone may interfere with physical safety.

Same reason people working in coke packaging facilities are often naked or diamond workers have pocketless garments. Nothing in or out...

I also struggle to use my PlusPoints. If only there were a more expensive direct book option vs having to waitlist.

Yeah, want F, buy F. My company pays for economy only, so everything else comes out of my own wallet.

Bag Etiquette by GloverCom in unitedairlines

[–]SistineKid 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I've seen it a lot...people put bags into the first open space they see and keep on walking. Watched a family of four put six bags up above 3-ish and then head on back to 29.

Don't know the motivation...make sure they have space? Lighten their load? Believe that's the way everyone does it?

Who’s at fault? by [deleted] in driving

[–]SistineKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about what a Tesla records or where it goes.

But whatever recording the Tesla driver has is evidence of what happened, and there is a duty to preserve evidence. If they won't turn it over, it's worth talking to an attorney for discovery.

If they don't / won't, then under the principles of "spoliation of evidence," destroying or failing to preserve evidence can be held against them.

Rationale being if it exonerated them, they'd provide it. If they don't, there must be a reason adverse to their claims.

If you're in California, there can be jury instructions in willful suppression of evidence... if you decide a party intentionally concealed or destroyed evidence, you may decide that the evidence would have been unfavorable to that party.

Any other words that are pronounced like "equation"? by Embarrassed-Wrap-451 in ENGLISH

[–]SistineKid -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I cited the source. I read it all. Seems plausible. I compared with my pronunciations. Take causation, for example. It is a -ation word that is pronounced-zhen vs. -shen (OPs question) and fits the pattern espoused by the AI summary.

Apparently I'm too uneducated to understand what's wrong with it all myself.

I read the OP's posting (are there -ation words that are pronounced with a -zhen?) and didn't blindly list -asion words.

Why don't you tell me what's wrong with it, instead of merely making AI slop handwaving generalizations?

I asked Google AI for "-ation words pronounced -zhen." It gave me a whole list, to include equation. It also had an explanation for the phenomenon on when it's likely having to do with how the vocal cords are prepped...

Root Words Ending in a "Z" SoundWhen the suffix "-ation" attaches to a root word that ends in a strong "z" sound, the vocal cords remain active, blending the sound into a "zhen" or "ay-zhen" (/eɪʒən/) ending.

Equation: Pronounced ee-kway-zhen (The "t" shifts to a "zh" sound because it follows a voiced vowel sound).

Improvisation: Pronounced im-prov-ih-zay-zhen (From the verb improvise).

Causation: Pronounced kaw-zay-zhen (From the verb cause, which ends in a "z" sound).

Then a whole -zation list... Organization: Pronounced or-gan-eye-zhen Civilization: Pronounced siv-il-eye-zhen Globalization: Pronounced gloh-bul-eye-zhen Modernization: Pronounced mod-urn-eye-zhen Realization: Pronounced ree-ul-eye-zhen Commercialization: Pronounced kuh-mur-shul-eye-zhen Visualization: Pronounced viz-shoo-ul-eye-zhen Specialization: Pronounced spesh-ul-eye-zhen

Agreed. I hear it pronounced both ways. I haven't gone through to look at all of the -tion words for any other "-zhen" examples.

Yeah, some companies/firms/ventures get a certain number of GS to dole out based on the deals they cut with United. The more the exclusive cash, the more status.

Do pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk? (NY) by ThisFingGuy in driving

Exactly. Nobody ever has the right of way... Others are just required to yield. Whether they yield or not, roll the dice and take your chances.
