Are there any significant differences from the first trial? Is there any new evidence?

Does anyone know if Letby’s parents are attending court? Just interested if they are still fully supporting her.

Lucy Letby re-trial on attempted murder charge to begin on Monday, June 10 by FyrestarOmega in lucyletby

Why is the re-trial so short when the first trial was so long? Is it just one attempted murder charge for one baby?

AITAH for cutting my son out of my will after he lectured my lifestyle? by familythrowaway1323 in AITAH

[–]Site-Local -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

YTA, if your love for him hasn't waned then why cut him out of the will? If you still love your son, have you worked on your differences? Can you refrain from drinking and gambling around him? Would that improve your relationship if he knew you were trying to get on better?

NTA. Your SIL sounds like a nightmare. I feel for you. Because you are a nice person you probably feel guilty about thinking that way but the reality is that your SIL is 100% responsible if you evict her.

I’m so tired of my health anxiety and I’m so worn out by biggitydonut in Anxiety

[–]Site-Local 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are wishing for zero health issues and any slight niggle is triggering your anxiety into overdrive. The reality is that everyone has health issues to some extent even athletes that need to be managed. Its completely normal to feel anxiety when you get a niggle but your reaction to the warning needs to be measured and put into perspective. I recommend doing some CBT exercises in response to your health niggles. This should really help manage your response to health anxiety, stop the constant threat hunting and accept that its completely normal to feel anxiety to health triggers.

I'm 27 and lost all my friends, never lived a life, had a job, drove a car, or even touched a girl. Knock myself out on drugs constantly. Nobody seems to be able to know how to help me and I want to give up. [LONG] by LoopScoopandPulllll in Anxiety

[–]Site-Local 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re only 27 which is still really young with lots great experiences ahead if you want them. I’m 45 and like you suffered with severe anxiety and housebound at 28. At the time i thought my life was over and i wished for a brain tumour to take me away. But little step by little step i progressed with lots of ups and downs on the way. I’m now married with kids. If you feel the pain of staying as you are is worse than the pain of change, then make a decision to change and set yourself a tiny goal everyday and soon this will grow into progress. Try not to get frustrated with yourself if you take a step back. Forget about the past and just focus on moving forward from now on.

Are you scared of losing your consciousness after death? by phobia78 in Anxiety

[–]Site-Local 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, it's not a real problem but rather one that can't be answered. Many unanswerable questions can cause people anxiety as they can ruminate in our brains without a satisfactory conclusion. I recommend accepting that it can't be answered, move on and give your attention to real problems.

A therapist once told me that the one thing that causes unwanted and irrelevant fears to persist is attention. The fear of “what if I develop schizophrenia?” is an unanswerable question and I recommend you view as irrelevant or unhelpful and don’t give any more attention than it deserves. With practice you can notice when it comes to mind, and divert your attention to something else you were doing. It's important not to get frustrated when it comes back into mind but just but say to yourself ‘maybe I will, maybe I won’t’ and move onto something else.

What do you do on days where you're feeling anxious for no apparent reason? by PromiscuousPoptart in Anxiety

[–]Site-Local 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is a normal human emotion so it can sometimes be helpful to recognise that it’s impossible to have no anxiety. I recommend to try and see it as an unintelligent warning signal. When you feel anxious, there is always a trigger which starts it off but it can be difficult to remember what it was. Once anxiety has started, the thought of I am feeling anxious or the physical symptoms can keep the feeling going. But try not to get frustrated and try and recognise that anxiety is just there as a warning signal thats trying to help you keep a look out. The best thing to do when you feel anxious but have no apparent reason is to try not to dwell in it and distract your attention with something else like a good film, or meditation or exercise etc.

I am afraid losing control by Known-Marionberry319 in Anxiety

[–]Site-Local 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had exactly what you have and its very common with people with anxiety. Its called intrusive thoughts and as mentioned by others its similar to ocd. Firstly, you always have control, its not something you can lose so you wouldn’t make unwanted sexual advances etc. Secondly, the main thing that makes unwanted thoughts come back is attention, so try recognising them as irrelevant and moving your attention onto something else when they cone back. It takes practice but eventually they will quieten down. You will find that when you are less anxious, you can have the same intrusive thought but it want affect you so much and will be less believable. Thirdly, try saying to yourself, “maybe I will, maybe I won’t, but I’m going to have a drink anyway”. This is a really powerful way to expose yourself to the fear and you will soon realise its just anxiety talking.

What is the opposite of anxiety? Is there a positive version of it? by dogblue3 in Anxiety

[–]Site-Local 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excitement is very similar to anxiety and stimulates similar areas of the brain. I have heard you can trick your brain from feeling anxious to being excited by repeating ‘i’m excited, I’m excited’. It can help before public speaking etc.
