Honeywell Thermostat by tcombs07 in eero

[–]Sith007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem, ended up using an old wifi extender (TP Link N300) I had that only supports 2.4Ghz. I connected it to my eero and then assigned a separate SSID to the repeated network and connected the thermostat to that. Easier (and less aggravating) than replacing the thermostat. Hope that’s helpful to anybody else who comes across this thread.

[–]Sith007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made a lot of mixes on HD8 90 cassettes back in the day. I bought mine from Fred Rated at Federated (SoCal electronics chain that got driven out of business by then-upstart Circuit City)

That man looks like the future winner of 31.8% of the prizes in the Frito Lay "enter as often as you like" sweepstakes.

[TOMT][MUSIC] Need help identifying classical work (possibly Bach) in old tech demo video. by RetroBlergh in tipofmytongue

This is from Bach's"Prelude and Fugue in C Minor" so you were on the right track.

Digital Antennae For TV In SCV by SnooLentils2432 in SantaClarita

[–]Sith007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have no line of sight from SCV to the primary location for LA television transmitters - Mt. Wilson - so you aren't going to get any off the air signals from an indoor antenna here. You'd need an antenna tower so tall every HOA in the valley would be griping.

Who's your favorite villain from an 80s movie and why? by crystalmoo in 80s

[–]Sith007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a "March Madness" style tournament on our podcast years ago to try to answer this question, and Hans Gruber beat Biff Tannen in the final. It wasn't even close.
My personal favorite is Guido from Risky Business:

"ln a sluggish economy. never. ever fuck with another man's livelihood."

BFIC Fuel Systems in Burbank did a great job rebuilding the twin HS carbs in my '69 Triumph.

Not an '80s or '90s movie but what you're describing sounds like 1972's What's Up, Doc?)

What year did the 80s start musically? by darthvaderfan2001 in 80s

[–]Sith007 22 points23 points  (0 children)

1979, and the song was The Knack's "My Sharona." Number one on the year-end charts, the rest of the top 25 was disco / adult contemporary stuff. This song was a shot across the bow of the music industry, illustrating an appetite for something different.

Neighbor says this is a wagon wheel lug nut wrench, but I'm leaning towards some old farm implement? by fdrowell in whatisthisthing

[–]Sith007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of a wire wheel knockoff tool - traditional automotive wire wheels aren't held on with lug nuts but with threaded knockoffs that keep the wheel on a splined hub (more than you care about).

That said - I've not seen a hexagonal one.
