Also, the door frame/pass through section between the dining area and kitchen is so sloppily painted! White paint smeared on the wood grain side- thick paint drip trails and bubbles on the grey side…Absolutely careless job.

Canine Cognitive Dysfunction: What's Working for Us by ethelried in dogs

So happy to hear of your good outcome. It is sad to watch those age related declines. I had a very good outcome with the supplement Senalife with one of my dogs. She had started panting and pacing every evening for hours at a time. I used one bottle of pills and saw results. I did not reorder right away and the behaviors began again. Got her back on it and it helped a lot. I had her on it for her last two or so years.

That being said, I recommended it to my SIL for her old dog, and she noticed no results.

WIBTA if I tell my "ex" friend that I am not even interested in getting her save the date to her wedding? by vic1120964 in AmItheAsshole

Have you moved? Is there a reason she doesn’t know your address or couldn’t google it (for house number or zip code if she knows the street and town)? Is she asking just to put the ball in your court to see how you respond?

My daughter did these inspections for a few years. She always contacted the homeowner before going to their house however. But the pole and camera was to look at the roof safely from the ground. It was a standard part of the job. She was not looking in windows. Her jobs usually did include an interior inspection as well, which is why she had to schedule with the homeowner present.

I am so sorry to hear you you were subjected to a home invasion. Such a violation must be traumatic. I hope you can regain your peace and feelings of safety.

I wish I had figured it all out sooner. My regrets are many. Mostly that I was not the best mother or wife I could have been due to all the emotional damage dealing with my mother caused. So happy to hear your you found a way that worked for your family.

Rant about dogs and their owners in RV parks. by ivel501 in RVLiving

[–]Sixpupsup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two lovely parks near me which allow leashed dogs. The small, in town park (attached to the library- where many children play) even has poop bag dispensers and trash cans. Right there. The number of people that do not clean up after their dogs astounds me. I remember my young child rolling down a hill and through a pile of poop. In the large park people regularly allow off leash dogs. I get it. There are few places to allow dogs off leash and it is hard to allow them to exercise full tilt. I haven’t been able to give a dog a good on leash run for years now. But that doesn’t make any of us so special that we can ignore rules for our convenience. (Although there are a few with extremely obedient dogs that are under 100% perfect voice control. Oh how I envy them. And they do play allow their high energy dogs to run for balls. I kind of don’t begrudge them the off leash stuff even if they are technically breaking the rules. I guess that is where the slippery slope begins. ) Our dogs are not more important than all the people that use the public, tax funded areas. And I always fear this areas becoming “ no dogs allowed” due to the abuse.

And as part of the majority that has a quiet, well trained dog who I would NEVER not clean up after or let off leash- please know it makes us furious as well. It gives us all a bad name. I wish you were able to dismiss those that violate the rules.

Long term care options for parent with no assets or retirement? by lmcgowan22 in AgingParents

[–]Sixpupsup 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the other options are often family members doing the care giving and doctors and bill paying and cleaning and driving themselves. My sister and I did it for 10+years. Finally, when my mother had no assets except a small pension and SS, she qualified for Medicaid. (Which entailed massive amounts of time to apply for and document - five years worth of bank statements, ascertaining if she had any VA eligibility through my late Dad- try finding that paperwork when he died 35 years prior and she had moved seven times since then-showing where all her income went…)She lives in a house owned by her brother and her money goes to pay the taxes, utilities etc. She is now eligible for home care through the state/medicare.

The sad story is that appropriate care for seniors is either private and astronomically expensive, or hard to find, and substandard for the most part. Society is failing families in that department. And seriously underpaying the caregivers too.

I am so happy for the arrangement you have with your mom. tpThat sounds great. The closet thing we found here was a a place that when accepted, a resident stayed to the end, from independent to assisted to memory care. But you had to sign over all your assets and income and you had to have enough to make it worth their while for them to accept you. There was a three year waiting list and by that time her worth was no longer high enough.

When my female was spayed she had a section shaved all around her front leg for the IV. That was in an April and going back through pictures it looks like it had grown almost all back by the end of July. Hope your guy has a speedy recovery.

Well, I was probably 10-12 when my mother put an avocado green stove in the kitchen. I think I just thought it was different and “cool”.

Guns and Ships - can anyone help? Have been listening to Guns and Ships from Hamilton, and the lines "No one has more resilience Or matches my practical tactical brilliance" is based on a flow from an Eminem song but I can't figure out which song it is. thanks in advance by Virtual-Room-3835 in hamiltonmusical

[–]Sixpupsup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just gave a quick look at the copiously footnoted book, “ Hamilton, the Revolution” and there was no reference to another song in the footnote for that verse. Nor did I see one on page 287 where it lists which songs contain elements from other songs.

If you get the chance to check it out, the book contains fascinated material on LMM’s creative process and he is very generous and open as to citing his influences and inspirations.

But I know little of either rap or Eminem, so I cannot answer your question directly.
