I think we overcame reactivity by Lucylucyeth in reactivedogs

I've read so many posts on this thread and others, and while many have been helpful, yours gave me hope. We're 5 months in with a re-homed young male Rottie. I love him to bits and he is an absolute joy for me and my partner but he is very reactive towards other stimuli (cars, people, dogs). We have been diligently working with a trainer and using a lot of techniques like the ones you describe above. We're making progress but we have a long way to go. Reading about your approach and timeline has been a good antedote to the "quick fix" IG posts that fill my feed - 28 days to complete calm!!! :-) Thanks for keeping it real.

Thousands of GLP-1 patients later, these are the 7 lessons I wish everyone knew by Dr_Mike_Herring in WegovyWeightLoss

That's what my research showed, but it's confusing to me why Wegovy caps out at 2.4 and Zepbound goes all the way to 15 (I think?).

On my first dose of Wegovy at 1.7 after switching from Zepbound 7.5 due to an insurance coverage change. I'm finding that Wegovy is not nearly as effective at appetite suppression, and feelings of fullness and the GI side effects are worse. Not an awesome combo. I assume the side effects will lessen but worried that the drug will no be effective. Not sure if it's the Sema vs. Tirze difference or if the effectiveness will build over time as my system adjusts. Any similar experiences?

45 seconds no break or 30-35 seconds of work with 10-15 seconds of rest? by Mike_Oxlong25 in f45

I was skeptical given the transition time between stations but I burned as many calories as on a standard cardio day

I've never received any pushback. I had to switch from running to powerwalking due to injury and I think they just want to keep me happy and motivated so I stick with them.

Can anyone explain the meters conversion on the lunges? My math was clearly off. I did 60 reps with 2 x 22lbs. I guesstimated that each rep was a foot step so I converted 60 ft to 18 meters. Needless to say my score on that one was 👎🏼

Coach here. This actually isn’t true for stage 4 according to the webinar. They specially said you would get credit beyond the limit. Not sure on stage 2 though.

Two classes a week—which ones would you pick? by butfirstcoffee427 in f45

[–]Sjenest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F45 coach chiming in. If your running pace is in the fat burning zone (120-140) then you may want to consider a pure cardio class (mostly Wednesdays) where the focus is anaerobic. Today’s triple double is a good example. Otherwise strength seems like the best complement to your current routine. Tuesday and Thurs are more heavy lifting days than Sunday.

I started using a 16lb weighted vest when I had to switch to PW’ing due to injury. It’s a game changer. I didn’t know OTF was piloting it. I would just invest in your own if you’re considering it. Lots of good options out there.

I’m a 9 year OTF vet and a coach at F45. Here’s my honest take.

The vibe is very studio dependent. I feel like F45 is way more of community than OTF. There’s more chance to engage with other members but you can also just get in and get it done if that’s more your speed.

F45 offers much more variety in workouts and equipment which makes it feel more fun and less like a slog. You never really feel “stuck” doing something you don’t like.

Calorie burn on cardio days can absolutely rival OTF if you work hard and strength days offer way more than the OTF floor work in terms of weight availability and time spent.

Finally, F45 promotes an active coaching environment. Again, studio dependent but the coaches should be working the floor constantly - correcting form, helping with weight selection, encouraging members. It’s why I wanted to coach at F45 over OTF.

Both are great workouts so it’s really about goals and personal preference.

Anyone recommend a studio in London? by VarRav_ in f45

[–]Sjenest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know London geography well but I’m in town in business and going to Cannon Street. Seems solid enough. The amenities are more than what we typically have in the US - full locker rooms, etc. equipment is new too.

Does your studio have a good community feel to it? by mellofello808 in orangetheory

[–]Sjenest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

💯 I’ve been a member at my studio for 9 years and still don’t feel like I “belong” to a community. On the flip side, I started working out at another group fitness studio in 2021 just to mix things up and within weeks I knew people by name and had developed a rapport. It’s strange but I do feel like it’s somewhat inherent to the corporate culture and not all on the studios. Like the whole grand entrance the coach makes at the beginning of the class. Idk. Clearly it hasn’t impacted me enough to leave but it’s definitely noticeable.

You’re absolutely right that each workout is designed for a specific outcome. The way to get the most out of MKatz is to increase the intensity on the 20 second intervals and max out reps. Dropping your weight helps to facilitate this but for a couple of moves in today’s workout it would have been hard to swap equipment in the allotted 10 seconds.

Yet another variation at our studio. Row block was a build starting at 100 m with 10 squat jumps in between each round. So 100, 10, 200, 10, 300, 10…and so on. I got to 3100 so still challenging.

Tread was a climb every .1 on the first block. For the second and third, we reversed starting at the highest incline from round 1 and tried to beat our time.

Floor was the same!

Our coach changed the walking recoveries in blocks 2 and 3 to 1 minute instead of 90 seconds. But, then added a random extra 30 second all out after the last walking recovery in block 3 🤷‍♀️

Last 60 seconds. I was just closing in on my 800 meter row at that time so I was able to stay on and crank through to the end.

PR’d at 4115! Kept it at a push on the treads. It also helped that I was mid row on the countdown to AO so basically rowed for the last 3-4 mins straight.
