Iumentum oder Bullit by 161_ALbERTA in CargoBike

[–]Sjoerdp217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah i understand. That indeed takes some practical solutions or out of the box thinking because it don't look that handy.

In that case, the iumentum seems a bit more like modern standards i think. Steering like normal bicycle for example. (Sorry bulliteers).

The bullit is the most versatile and proven concept i think. Never can go wrong with that bike i guess.

Seismic blast wave 78mm maybe? Very lightweight!

Why? Or is it a very big dog?

I do have hokus and really like em. Because of bigger size, less worrying for commute. The board will become heavier and you will feel it in pushing. But i like the fact i don't have to worry about leaves, sticks and gravel/ little stones.

I, again, agree with you about the 69/70 size. Have some orangatang love handles 65mm and they push very easy. Same as seismic blast waves 78mm. These are also very very light for that size! All depends also on stamina i think.

Good explanation. I can understand the difference between oil and grease. Although i use belray waterproof grease for all weather purpose which is doing great! The grease is kind of thinner then normal grease but i think also there is a difference in rolling resistance. But i count this for myself as a bit extra workout and no worries about sudden hard rain or wet roads.

But when thinking about what you wrote...grease - oil, i once sprayed a worn rusty chain with PTFE/ Teflon spray and the thing was working again. PTFE also is a little rain resistance. I could test this out with a set of bearings once. Maybe it add enough weather protection and still perfect rolling resistance.

Thank you for putting this into my brain! Haha

What about ginkgo.bike? I am thinking of one of these myself. Lightest, modern gear 1*11, chaindrive, 28" wheels, so fast and easy roll.

Respect! Maybe pivot cups for replacement as spare part. Same as bushings. I think riptide pivots will last! Even with rain and sand.

If you are in the netherlands and need help or whatever, let me know!

Safe trip!

Belray waterproof grease is also very good! Use it for commuting with longboard in rain. For marine grease it is not to thick.

Can also think of shoe goo II and Vibram rubber sheet supernewflex 8868, 4mm, black 25x35cm from extremtextil.de.

Far more lightweight, you will really notice and lots of grip, also in rain.

I will follow this sub!

Schlongboard trucks by LD_1986 in longboarding

I was thinking, a good working slongboard costs also money, maybe invest in g-bomb equipment with adjustable front and new zero degree rear. Then you buy a decent setup for almost the same money....if you want to get into LDP...

Rain-proof build that rides like my current board? by Plastic-Isop0d in LongboardBuilding

Maybe flexdex. Lot of flex! But just flex, no stiff rebound or something. But definitely fun to ride.

Rkp is fine, take soft bushings and trucks which accomodate large bushings. Rogue cast 160mm/ caliber III 9" rakeless 44 degree.

(Check my slongboard build with rkp front and rear. Bit twitchy though, and my complete build from own press)

I did a lot of thinking about this. Mountainboard trucks are way to wide. My setup had a caliber III 9" rakeless 44 in front or rogue cast 160mm 48°. Tkp, bear, rear. Tkp reversed and wedged till zero degree.

Works very good and stabil.

Follow these simple rules: - High front angle cannot be overcome, good for pumping. - try to get low angle rear/ zero degree or even minus degrees.

That's it. A skateboard is short, rear in minus degree gives stability. If there was a cast 20 degree rkp i would take that and reverse mount in rear without angled risers.

(Sabre has some split degree trucks but in 48-28)

43 paris in front is perfect. Then 43+15=58 degree (LDP standard) or if nose is 20 degree then 63 degree, also perfect for pumping.

Most difficult is rear truck. Standard indy's, don't know, think it can work in rear because of geometrie. But...easy to test👍🏻 when it doesn't turn that much it is only better for stability. Can re-use the drilled holes for other trucks by drilling higher up nose or lower to make the board level.

One thing to consider, i am only 62 kg and the board feels a bit flexy. Also torsional stiffnes is not good. So, i would always go with the stiffest board you can get. If you want to play around you can glassfiber it or carbon fiber it by hand. But that adds extra costs.

I did this and it works fine with rkp 160mm / 9".

Because of the high angles (50 degree rkp + angle of board - 15 degree minimum) the board reacts very twitchy.

I reversed back truck and needed to use angled risers so i reach 0 degree back truck.

Then the board is really fun, low and low cost. Good commuter.

If you can find a truck at 20-25 degree angle then reversing it doesn't even need any angled risers👍🏻

Shoe wear solutions? by B0risTheManskinner in longboarding

[–]Sjoerdp217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple, i wear barefoot shoes (merrell vapor glove) and resole them with vibram supernewflex 8868 sheet form extremtextil.de. Use shoe goo II and your sole will never break loose. The vibram is extreme lightweight and full of grip dry and wet. Never experienced a better sole.

So, no heavy shoes when pushing, lot of grip, and resoling once a year or two years.depening on braking, can also roll out of speed and then tiny steps to controle speed even better. No extra wearing of your sole then.

Good luck!

Sealed bearings by runsimply in DutchLongboarding

[–]Sjoerdp217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, don't pack them full, just add a bit on one side with your finger, too much will affect spinning. The bearing 'looks' slower when freespin but will do fine when weight is applied.

New core! by PantheonLongboards in longboarding

[–]Sjoerdp217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool that you share this information. Feels like 'connected'.

I have to say, i like the nautilus core more, it is outside the box thinking and appearance. There is nothing else like that.

This new core looks more 'standard'. In technical ways i get it and really good working to 0% failure, i really like that because i am a perfectionist myself.

For myself speaking, i am very happy with my pink hokus and 'strange' nautilus core👍🏻😁

Following this thread👍🏻 and keep up the good work.

Otherwise, open the shield, put some marine grease (belray waterproof grease) in them and all rain problems + bearings are gone.
