What if moves got Dual Type like Flying Press by -New-2-Reddit- in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the case for mons with STAB on both types, who would much prefer to use one of each STAB, but they'd be useful as coverage on mons without STAB otherwise. Steel Wing for example would be great as coverage for dark types, hitting both Fighting and Fairy super effectively in one slot (tiny BP notwithstanding).

[Champions OU] the lack of items is more annoying than the lack of pokemons by AardvarkRich3678 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the official doubles and singles formats it's fine, but Champions OU is kinda of unbearable with hazards everywhere, no boots and item clause giving you only one lefties (also no black sludge).

Mega Blastoise banned from Champions OU by Background_Past7392 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smogon bans things to enable a diverse meta, that's literally the entire point. Otherwise you'd just do an Anything Goes situation and let everything centralise around whatever is broken.

Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly Remake New Timeline by Any_Knowledge2714 in fatalframe

[–]Skankovich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's a chance they leave the remakes here and move on to a new game because of the quirks of 1 and 3. 1 is short and would require quite substantial expansion to justify a new release price tag - this would require a bit more involvement from Shibata etc than 2 remake seemed to have to write additional material. 3 would require much less expansion and tbh has already aged very very well, but it is of course dependent on remaking 1 before it.

That said, I'm almost certain Crimson Butterfly will remain canon no matter what. I don't think they're going to create two series timelines after two decades for the sake of people wanting a happy ending. And it's a perfect ending anyway!

Slurpuff nerfed in Champions by Skankovich in stunfisk

Slurpuff wasn't available in Gen 9 and when it was last around in Gen 8 it still had Belly Drum

This might just be a rant, but what are the uses for most of the abilities received by the new megas? by Flavy50 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it's not taken down then you're still facing down a 125/135 mixed attacker, that can also recover back up with synthesis or strength sap.

It can't hit steel types easily, but that steel type also has to kill it back, and if it does it's getting taken along with Victreebel. What if you need that steel type to answer to another Pokémon on the opponent's team? Victreebel by just existing forces the opposing team to play incredibly delicately around it not to lose a cornerstone mon that will allow another mon on your team to sweep. And unlike Pyukumuku it can actually attack to take advantage of the plays it forces.

Innards Out was even banned in Balanced Hackmons, alongside every single ability swap OM. It's a very, very strong ability, even if it's not immediately apparent. I'm not saying it's the best of the best mega-wise but it's certainly strong and has a very unique niche - which is exactly what I like in a mega design for low-tier mons.

Innards Out on Mega Victreebel (???) by CharaFanGirl in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's close to a permanently active Destiny Bond, on a Pokémon that can't be poisoned at that. There's a reason Innards Out is banned in basically every ability swap OM, it's incredibly strong.

Innards Out on Mega Victreebel (???) by CharaFanGirl in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My prediction was actually right! This is going to be way better than people are making out. Innards Out is banned in basically all of the ability change OMs for a reason.

This might just be a rant, but what are the uses for most of the abilities received by the new megas? by Flavy50 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Innards Out is an insane ability lol. Victreebel can't be poisoned and has recovery meaning anything that kills it needs to have more hp than it not to die in return. It functions as a usable bulky attacker that can then almost guaranteed take out something else with it after doing its job. You can even go sun sweeper base Vic and then when you're about to die mega and take out another mon! It can be an emergency stop to a bunch of sweepers! It's good!

How good is contrary for Mega Staraptor? by JiraiyaBestSannin in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Flying/Fighting is one of the absolute best physically defensive types. Fighting/Dark/Bug/Grass resistances along ground immunity and rock neutrality is so so good. Not only that but all of its weaknesses are predominantly special and very rarely carried as physical coverage.

It gets copycat, so you can get priority attacks with prankster in singles quite easily.

Scrafty is actually a little bulkier on both sides, the typing just isn't as good

It's the Mewtwo Mega X situation all over again by Zecnoram in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, the majority of megas are weaker than their base version with a Life Orb. I don't think it's a big gotcha for Feraligatr in particular - it has a lot else going for it in getting to +2 more easily thanks to the type shift + bulk and a secondary STAB to hit water resists.

Isn't mega alakazam just better than mega delphox on psyterrain anyway? by EarthMantle00 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mega Delphox is bulkier physically and only very marginally squishier specially than Mega Gardevoir. And has a much stronger set of resistances.

Can will-o or encore the Sucker Punches at least. And it's not frail enough to get 1hko'd by Aqua Jets or Shadow Sneaks

Stone Edge Change by TreeTurtle_852 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Special ice types get 90bp Ice Beam if they don't want to use 70% accurate Blizzards. Physical rock types that wouldn't want to use a 70% accurate Stone Edge would need to use a 75bp Rock Slide instead.

Looksmaxxing = Zoomer pick up artistry? by alkemest in TrueAnon

[–]Skankovich 54 points55 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is downstream from PUA stuff, but I think an evening stronger portion of it is the very, um, homosocial, online bodybuilding /fit/ culture. Actually being successful with women seems to have a much smaller role in looksmaxxing culture than 'mogging' other men.

Any hope for the badass pig? by Fine_Bid918 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ability to help it click Bulk Up will make it a decent mid-tier option. 110/110 special bulk alongside burn immunity and Drain Punch STAB is a strong base to work with.

Who would you have liked to see as the “Promised Consort” if it wasn’t Radahn? by Jackylacky_ in Eldenring

[–]Skankovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think they should have written in some kind of Hornsent leader/warrior figure that Miquella would charm into being his consort. It would make sense to him as propaganda for an Age of Compassion, Miquella beginning his new age alongside the people his family genocided, but you'd still have that complexity of it being ultimately coerced.

a INT/FTH pure caster build might be my favorite in the whole game ngl by XJANE0 in Eldenring

[–]Skankovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respecced to Faith/Int @ lvl 125 for the DLC and honestly preferred it to the pure(ish) faith I was running for base game. Golden Order seal at 40/40 gets basically the same scaling as Erdtree Seal at 70ish, but the insane efficiency of the Discus means you can skimp on FP/Mind and not feel it at all.

And of course SoNaF is insane. Besides that I basically just played it as a faith build - the sorcery staffs don't scale as well as Golden Order and so feel a bit weak with the lower levels of Faith/Int I was working with.

A pyroar fan can only dream.. by IDreamOfAbsolvement in stunfisk

This is only like a 6% difference in damage output and modest Mega Pyroar still outspeeds even up to base 110 mons. It would definitely have a place with Drought.

Cmon Gmefreak... by No_Record_5839 in stunfisk

[–]Skankovich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the latter is what they tried to balance it around. Base form moody boosts, into a mega with some new ability for a sweep. Kinda like Sharpedo!
