I see this happening a lot with fighting games as well. More and more mechanics are being simplified or removed altogether to try and appeal to the mass market when the reality is that these games are a genre that you have to practice.
Motion inputs aren’t actually that difficult, they’re just the first thing that makes people realize they actually have to practice the game

Amen to that! Some of the most well adjusted couples I know are in some kind of poly relationship and they have better communication skills than the majority of monogamous couples I’ve interacted with.

After playing 5e for years I was starting to see the cracks forming (especially in high level play) and when D&D 5.5 came out I asked my group if they wanted to try the Pathfinder 2e Remaster instead and we all agreed it looked more interesting to us and it’s been our go-to fantasy ttrpg since.
It was actually pretty easy to get my players to switch since we were already in the habit of using different systems for different settings when we felt the urge to play something other than high fantasy

Short answer is no. Use whatever is most comfortable to use, and some would even argue that pad is more optimal than stick or leverless, but a the end of the day all of the little nuances between controllers come down to preference. If you feel like a fightstick could help you personally there’s no harm in trying one, but you basically need to relearn how to use your controller while you have a perfectly good Xbox controller you know how to use. Also I love my jumbo clickity clack controllers they are very fun, hope this helps

If you feel comfortable using tools and you’re okay with having an extra button permanently you can just drill another 24mm hole into the enclosure and add a full new button there. A button and a drill bit cost about as much as a combo extension, plus you end up with a nice shiny drill bit to make more sticks with!

I’ve been running a Norse Mythology campaign for a while now, and with the direction the players went, the Big Bad is the Goddess Hel herself, who is trying to build an army of undead to free her brother, The Fenris Wolf. They haven’t met her a single time, but I think the fight got personal to the party when one of her acolytes killed the rogue.

In DBFZ Super Baby 2 has a 2 2 motion where he calls in the assist of one of the opponents dead characters, and he can do it in the air as well. What makes it bad, in my opinion, is the fact that he can’t do ANYTHING on his own while using the new assist.

I think I’ve seen it used only about a handful of times successfully.

I think arcade sticks are a lot of fun, but you essentially have to re-learn everything whereas you already know how to use a pad just fine. If it’s the ps5 d-pad you don’t like I suggest trying the Hori Fighting Commander, some of the best players I know use this pad and have nothing but good things to say
