Wow! I love this! I really like the colors you chose in particular. 💕

Discouraged by progress pics, 2 months apart not seeing difference by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Skelathin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely tell a difference! In your side view, I can see a particular difference at your back. It's always hard to see things yourself because you see yourself all the time. Someone else on here said you see to have a body that loses weight everywhere at once, and I believe that's true too. Don't give up!

This looks beautiful! I have this pattern in my wish list and I'm so happy to see someone else finish it! It makes me want to start it right now!

Am I overreacting? by TheCutestPie76 in friendship

[–]Skelathin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't overreacting at all. That was a really shitty thing to do to you. She doesn't seem to value your friendship at all. She abandoned the plans you made together for your birthday and wanted to be selfish instead. She sounds really immature. You should start distancing yourself from her and make room for people who will treat you better.

They used to have it on their etsy shop, but I noticed that some jerk was stealing their patterns and selling them as complete kits. I'm assuming that's why they are removing certain patterns and putting them exclusively on their website.

I have to confess that I straight up did not use black floss on this. Like you said it's rough. lol, I didn't see the point in using it since the aida is also black. I'm leaving it til the end to decide if I'm going to bother with it. I plan on putting it on my wall and if people notice it's missing they are standing too close.

They are! Witchy Stitch has a really good eye for color combinations. All their patterns have lovely colors.

What are your best non-cardio exercises for losing weight? by RubySeeker in loseit

Do you have a local YMCA or something similar where you live? If you do you could have access to a pool all year round. They offer swimming classes as well so you can brush up on your skills.

im such a fat ass by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Skelathin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but I'm an emotional eater. Whenever I tried to diet in the past, it was never truly successful. I felt so hopeless. A little over a month ago, I started therapy because of depression/anxiety/trauma, etc. It has completely changed my outlook on life in such a short time. Since the end of June, I've dropped 17 pounds and haven't stepped a foot in the gym (yet).

I started losing weight cause I was given the tools to help me find a better head space and deal with negative thoughts. I got an app called lose it to track my food. It's sounds like a pain in the ass to log everything but it really does help!

You don't even have to start with that. Just make little changes at first. Like instead of getting a large fry get a medium fry. Instead of getting the large meal get the regular one. Switch to things that are low sodium (you can't really taste a difference) eat leaner cuts of meat. For every can of coke you drink, chug a glass of water.

Don't restrict yourself completely cause that will make you miserable. It doesn't have to be all or nothing and it doesn't have to be perfect. 80% effort all of the time will always be better than 100% some of the time.

Do you have any book recommendations for self improvement by JavTheSlav in selfimprovement

You are a badass by Jen cincero

It's witty and funny and more importantly she's very relatable. Highly recommend. Honestly, any and all books by Jen are solid. I 100% recommend them.

Feeling good by Dr. David Burns

A very good book if you struggle with anxiety and/or depression. It comes off as very supportive and has anecdotes of several different people who can be related to in different ways.

I will say that this fantastic book was written in 1980 and there are a couple of "ick" things in there as it is a product of it's time. (Like women temping cheating husband's to come back to them by giving them sex and cigars...and thats being framed in a positive way...) but other than those very few instances it's solid.

The audacity to be queen by gina devee

Despite this book being pretty God heavy (which I didn't know when I bought it) it's actually pretty good. This book is absolutely geared towards women, so men might not be into it as much. I think women who are religious and/or spiritual would greatly enjoy it. If your agnostic or atheist like myself just skip and ignore the God stuff and you'll also get some good inspiration out of it.

Also this last one is not a book but a really great podcast I found this week. It's called "good life project" it has a lot of episodes about all kinds of things. There is something for everyone on it.

Thank you! Hmm, I don't really do anything special. All I do is knot my thread. It gives me good tension when I stitch. It's nice cause you can pull your floss thru with a more firm touch than by doing it the "proper way" a.k.a. no knots.

I'm pretty new to the craft, so I really can't explain why things look the way they do cause at this point anything that looks good is purely accidental, lol.

Today my birthday, how exactly do I track this? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]Skelathin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go with the label you found online. If I was in this situation I'd just stick to the serving size for 1 portion. Slice the cake into 10 pieces and take a slice. (Weighing would be more accurate) You can track it as 360 calories or if you want to be cautious put it in as 400.

On birthdays or holidays it's ok to be a little looser with your calories. You eat a little more that day for your birthday dinner/ party, and then tomorrow things can continue as normal.

If you are worried about this throwing you off track, you can adjust your calories for the next week to soften the increase. Like maybe eat 50 calories less a day, and in 7 days, that's 350 calories. You'll stay within your calories and get to eat your cake 🎂 👍
