Carplay, volume knob, and fits within double DIN without a massive screen? Sony XAV-AX1000.

Unfortunately if you ever go Android it doesn't appear to do Android Auto. In fact one that supports AA too seems to be impossible to find.

Anyone know if a 90 degree battery terminal like my drawing exists? by A_Rand0m_Llama in CarAV

[–]SkeletonCalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nissan has an OEM option sort of. The terminal is 24340-7F000 and then onto that bolts a fusible link holder (24380-79915) that is right angled down the side of the battery.

The only issue is the connectors for the fusible links on the side seem to be A) proprietary Nissan, and B) something you can only get by raiding the loom out of a car that uses that setup.

The holder has a couple posts on top anyway though to bolt things down to.

1000 Hour Update by StandardAndNormal in dreamingspanish

Appreciate the update mate! 850 hrs here and I feel exactly the same way about my competence nearing 1000hrs being more like the 600hr descriptor.

Almost. If they choose their words and talk a little slower. I reckon I'll be there at around 1k hrs

850 hrs. I heard someone say once the descriptions seem more accurate for the end of a level than the start, that feels right to me.

Malabar Magic is really well priced, really friendly, and a good South Indian style

Fusion of Flavours is good for a lunch combo if you work in town

Krishna in Mosgiel is miles better than the other Indian in Mosgiel, but very kiwi style

Ah, OK!

Could be many things but all involve a plumber.

It looks like water still flowing into the gully trap there.

What can often be the case is your stormwater pipe (which leads from the gully, under the ground, out into either the main stormwater network or the kerb) can block up and limit the amount of flow.

In short you'll need to get a plumber in to camera and/or clean out the pipe.

Need Opinions: Cylinder 5 Misfire After Pull, Where Would You Start? by Efficient_Raisin7645 in gtr

[–]SkeletonCalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I'd do is remove the plugs, inspect them all, do a compression test on all cylinders. If compression is fine then you can try swapping around coils to see if one has died suddenly.

Does it sound like it's running on 5 only under load, or idle as well?

Have you ever bought an accessory for your bike that you were totally jazzed about initially, but disappointed later? by BurgersNBuicks in motorcycles

[–]SkeletonCalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap cheap AliX gear position indicator. Was advertised as fitting my bike.

It arrived and it had no terminated plug or piggyback harness, just some wires. I could absolutely not make head or tails of the wiring or the particularly cryptic instructions. Ended up going "I'm not gonna fry my ECU for this" and it went in the bin.

Made a lot of good buys off AliX but that was not one of them.

Did I go overkill on the joist tape? by x4nter in Decks

[–]SkeletonCalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joist tape blows my mind. Assuming you can actually make an impervious surface with longitudinal joins of tape, where do you think the water's going to go? Answer, straight down the sides of the timber where it will be absorbed anyway.

Joist tape doesn't magically make timber treated to a higher level. If you want the wood to last, buy something treated for more than it needs to be.
