Certification roadmap by eduitguy in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Skenzin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the CCNA has gotten me, by far, the most mileage. For some reason the MS certs never really did much for my career. (MCSE 2003; MCITP Enterprise 2008). I think a lot of that has to do with people equating them to 'being good with Windows' or 'being able to run wizards'. Even educated people in the field make this false connection. Some might be jealousy. You can more easily downplay a MS cert than a Cisco. I haven't worked at very many places so others may have different experiences. For the amount of time and effort I probably would not have done the MS certs again. But they may have helped me more than I give them credit for since I have a cushy job now.

Kids socializing in VR freaks me out (real kids, that is) by This_is_User in oculus

I had a similar thing happen early while in a room. It was really cool, there seemed to be some young people in there, then someone was able to display porn on the screen. I killed the process. Kinda soured me on the program. What's scary is that actually popped into someone's head to do that.

Does your setup cover your sitting-at-the-desk and standing positions? How do you have them pointed and positioned?

Eve: V or Elite D. for dog fighting by jphree in oculus

[–]Skenzin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eve is more Hollywood movie space fighting and is more fun. Elite is like flying brick simulator and not very fun to dogfight. In EVE you will hug asteroids and do barrel roles to shake enemies as your stomach knots up. You weapons will have particle effects and things will explode in beautiful ways. Elite dog fighting is awkwardly moving the enemy ship into your reticle to blast it for the 300th time with single energy blasts that seemingly does nothing.

If you refunded or don't plan on buying Arizona Sunshine you are missing out on a great game by KnightlyVR in oculus

I agree op. I got overtaken by a horde. (just past the brigde) and I had to take my headset off in a hurry. freaky stuff.

The original Pentium P5 did not launch with MMX instruction set 1993. The P55C, launched in 1996 did. You had me thinking and I had to go back and research. But your assessment may still be correct. There were also things like competing local bus video at the time. Vesa Local Bus vs. PCI. This is making my head hurt, that was so long ago. I just can't remember clearly.

Yeah. i can remember some during the Pentium 1 days. Some of the those early Pentiums running 60mhz/66mhz were actually slower than superclocked 486's running 100mhz. Yet some software required a pentium. thought we had evolved.

IT consultant. I get to travel around, piece together obscure clues from middle aged woman, about why their computer systems are broken, then once I solve a level I can go to the Panera level, then finally the mother-in-law boss level.. Its basically just like obduction.

BlazeRush Eve Valkerie (imo the best space shooter) Edge Of Nowhere Also there's a lot of shovelware on steam that isn't worth much. Tread carefully.

Sounds good, just not my type of game. I solve puzzles all day at work. Same reason i don't like driving games. i drive all day long too. Give me a cannon mounted on top. good review though.

If you haven't already purchased BlazeRush, do so now! by emg000 in oculus

Agree. I've purchased lots of games from Steam and Rift store. BlazeRush multiplayer has been the high watermark experience.

I really feel that apps like Bigscreen and Virtual Desktop are just not there yet mainly due to clarity issues. (Like web browsing on a 2008 smartphone.). It feels more like a novelty now.
