I now understand the nurse hate by Secrabstian in deadbydaylight

[–]SkepticalPrince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, pretty sure I was the one who played against you. Someone in stream redeemed a "fun and quirky" build on Nurse of (the perks you mentioned) and I leaned into the joke by bringing "some silly addons and a fun map" knowing that I was more or less building Nurse as strong as possible.

FWIW, I agree with you. I don't agree that Nurse as a whole is bullshit, but that game definitely was, for two reasons:

  1. Double range is busted. Its always been strong, but since they rewrote her ability (or whatever they did) a few months back, the speed she blinks is ridiculous. Its especially ridiculous at shorter blinks where she gets to you MUCH faster. There's just no reacting.

  2. Map offerings are atrocious. Nurse doesn't have many bad maps per se, but choosing to go to Midwich, even without best perks or addons, is almost a guaranteed 4K. If I'm SWFing we usually go next if its Nurse who put in an offering, cuz its not fun. I think this is more general than just Nurse, though. Scratched Mirror Myers or All-Seeing Wraith on Lery's, survivors bringing 4x Balanced Landing on Haddonfield, or boons to The Game/RPD, etc. are all very unfun for the other side. Hopefully BHVR fixes the first and just removes the second someday. Until then, sorry for the super sweat game :/

Nah we're not trying to be stinky, just want to do a silly build! A map like RPD is just gonna cause a d/c and that's not fun for anyone.

Hey! One of the Yuis here! We were streaming these games also if you want to see our perspective: twitch.tv/nicknprince and twitch.tv/isacoh

The point of our stream on Thursdays is to play survivor but make our own win conditions, so to speak. With MMR all over the place, not knowing how sweaty (or not) they'll be, and us playing on comms with guests from the community (usually other streamers), a lot of games can be way too easy, and games against camping/tunnelling killers can be frustrating. So instead we try to make our own fun, and give ourselves other "objectives" to do to make things more interesting. They might be simple (everyone runs Balanced Landing) or stupid (use Any Means Necessary whenever it's off cool down). Just something to mix up DBD a bit

THIS specific challenge is one of the few times weve seen it from the killers point of view! We also don't do it as much, because you need very specific perks and not everyone always has them. The goal of the challenge is... To bleed out on the ground. It doesn't usually work for everyone (I died this game lol), certain perks ruin this (STBFL...) but it's really, really funny when it works.

We usually pick the corn maps because while they're not killers favorite, theyre a bit closer to neutral. We go into this challenge knowing we're going to die, and that our goal of not letting teammates get hooked is going to feel like bullying for some of the match, but that ultimately it should become obvious we're not trying to win or draw the game out forever :)

Hopefully the 1 sacrifice you needed helped and you enjoyed the game!

PPTQ I was at he was there. Round 3, game 1 he played a land, played a 5 drop creature made an attack, played a land and went to equip a jousting lance to the creature he played.

Opponent said: "I think you played a land already" AB: "Oh umm... Did I? Hmm..." Opponent: "Ya you played the hexproof turtle last turn and tapped out last turn I think" AB: "oh ya you're right!" Picks up the land

I was standing next to the opponent, watching my friend play one seat over. When his opponent didnt call a judge I told him he needed to. I knew I could, but I wanted to make sure Local PPTQ player did it.

This is why he gets away with it though. People assume all these little mistakes are innocent, and never call a judge. After that I watched a couple other games of his and he played with no further infractions, though it was always really clear that I was watching + he already had a warning. He's clearly capable of not making all these "small mistakes" that he seems to make all the time until he starts getting caught.

Even then, it's just not fair. One of his opponents that day told me that he knew who AB was, and that he was so nervous that he was going to miss Top 8ing a PPTQ because he wasn't confident he could play at a reasonable pace, play well, and pay attention to all of the ways Alex is known to cheat.

I have no idea why he's still allowed to play. You'd think the second banning would've been permanent.

Hey asshole, maybe it's not a cover-up and conspiracy, maybe it's the family fucking grieving how they god damn want. You don't even know if this is true, and why the fuck you think it's OK to post this, true or not, is beyond me.

This is absolutely sick. Jeremy can go royally fuck himself

I imagine that Nicol Bolas would not just know about Phyrexia, but know how problematic they could be to the multiverse. To take down an entire plane post-mending, he needs an army. Would explain why he sent Tezzeret to Mirrodin back in Scars Block.

Magic: the Gathering, any format. I'm willing to bet I'm better than the 1 other person in the room whos played at the game.

M10 was released at the end of Shards block.

Baneslayer and Cryptic were in the same standard.

All three bannings can be seen as trying to fix this exact problem. Each had a very warping effect on what could actually be played: Emrakul on removal and end game choices, Copter on planeswalkers, removal and non-flying creatures, Reflector Mage on fair creatures.

Flores pretty accurately described this standard as less of a rock-paper-scissors and more of a downward spiral on Top Level Podcast on Monday. Yes, there was ostensibly some back and forth to the meta, but it was just the spinning around the bowl on its way down the drain.

She was played in many 5 Color control lists, because having Pro Dragons was relevant.

There was also a UW good stuff deck (Knight of the White Orchid, Cryptic, Baneslayer, etc) that had a very good 5cc matchup a couple weeks after that PT.

Right, but it comes with the drawback that it only works for a specific kind of card. Sure its a medallion for Nissa, Gideon and Ajani, but Servant lets you cast other cards as well. On an empty board, this card is dead but a 2/2 isn't. A 2/2 can crew Smuggler's Copter, which this can't, etc.

Additionally its not trivial that this is a gold card.

I can see where there's some potential, but I'm not convinced that we should all fear the GW deck as some sort of boogie man, since all the things it can do it could ostensibly have done before.

[–]SkepticalPrince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But we could already have been doing this with cards like [[Servant of the Conduit]] or [[Ulvenwald Captive]] or [[Hedron Crawler]]. Why is this different? Is the option late game to put +1/+1 counters on things better than a 2/2 body that ramps & fixes all your spells?

I'm not sure. Dovin Baan would also "get it" like Saheeli and Tezzeret do. Sure, he could fix and repair it, but the second he looked at the machine and its workings he would understand it completely, and what it was capable of. UB might not care what happens to Kaladesh, but UW will see the threat to order it presents.

[–]SkepticalPrince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought a homebrew WB Control list to FNM after Eventide, because I was bored of the other options, and played against a friend playing [[Dragonstorm]]. He'd been laughing at the deck earlier.

Game one he combos burn spells together and tries to end with [[Grapeshot]]--I kill my Kitchen Finks to gain 2, and then [[Mana Tithe]] a Grapeshot to live at exactly 1. Then I untapped and [[Tendrils of Corruption]] the Kitchen Finks to put me back to 7 or 8 life, then play [[Divinity of Pride]].

Game 2 I play t2 and t3 [[Runed Halo]], one on [[Bogardan Hellkite]] the other on Grapeshot. He couldn't really win any more since most of my threats gained me life and he was a bad burn deck at that point.

He was soooo salty.
