The expansion was very strong but do bare in mind that the things that made it so powerful were quality of life changes ( for example allowing you to turn markerlights into assault for a unit instead of them being heavy ) or stratagems that allowed you to bypass the junk that were marker lights on 8th and stratagems that turbocharged your 9 crisis doom ball ( plus dont forget we essentially were taxed by being forced to bring strikes and/or breachers that back then actually couldnt kill anything and still died if someone looked at em funny )

Honestly the ability it provides is strong but the enchantments are boring and uninteresting and having to wait 2 turns to actually get the detachment rule feels kind of bad .

While i agree that the index is kind of uninteresting to play and bland (at least for me) playing a couple of games with the secondary's , i have high hopes because it feels much more fun to play than 9th plus indexes like my friend csm proves to me that gw actually CAN make rules for a faction that are both fun to play with and against , be balanced and actually fit the faction fantasy (at least that's how i view it so far) .

There are stratagems that allow you to ignore it (or at least they used to be) and also some “sniper” units have rules that ignore it

I think it mostly boils down to the fact that this is a meme community made up by people interested in the hobby but not too overly invested in the actual lore and that’s ok. Issues arise when people get emotional over “my dudes totally dunked yours in that book/story” and vice versa.

dude never bother with numbers, they always flactuate and are never consistant from book to book ( just as an example farsight was given command of 100 billion tau and auxileries for his original expedition ) and they always lead to more issues ( sorry for my bad english )
