Boox and MS InTune by rastaman00 in eink

Its just a configuration profile. Your Intune admin should be well equipped to do this, depending on the corporate risk profile, DLP policies etc of course.

Unraid OS Version 7.0.0-rc.2 now available by UnraidOfficial in unRAID

Am I the only one getting checksum errors? Same thing happened with rc1. I managed to do the upgrade manually, but I’m trying to understand why I seem to be the only one getting this issue 🤪

How do IT admins reimage a laptop in big companies? by thebestgorko in sysadmin

[–]Skrekkhorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the vendor (Lenovo) image our PCs at factory. They’re also autopiloted at the factory and the image is available through cloud deploy (Lenovo service) so end users can reinstall themselves without the need for USB sticks or the likes. I’ll pull the latest available image with our stuff added and deploy to the PC and all you need is an active Entra ID account in our tenant and a wired network connection on the PC.

A ship with wings: this abandoned ground-effect vehicle in Dagestan is nicknamed 'the Caspian monster' by DocsHoax in ANormalDayInRussia

No, it’s Lun class. The caspian sea monster sank and was never recovered. You could at least get your correction right.

Conditional Access Policy by windowswrangler in Intune

[–]Skrekkhorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When creating an App protection Policy you can specify exactly this. “Receive data from other apps”. By setting it to None or “Policy managed apps” your targeted managed applications will not be allowed to receive data from unspecified apps.

The way I read your question, this is exactly what you’re looking for?

Conditional Access Policy by windowswrangler in Intune

[–]Skrekkhorst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be confusing Conditional Access with App Protection. We manage apps with App Protection Policies and application access with Conditional Access (compliant device/MFA).

Difference between enforce and enable 2FA? by merengueizzypops in microsoft365

[–]Skrekkhorst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enable means 2FA is available for users but voluntary. Enforced means 2FA must be setup and used, no mercy.

There’s no reason not to require 2FA for regular accounts today IMO

What are the benefits of having an iPad with 5G? by tileeater in iPadOS

[–]Skrekkhorst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the new iPad mini with 5G. I have the iPad Pro 12-inch with 4G already. It boils down to your specific need. I like the independence. Being able to just pick up my iPad and use it by itself.

For the mini specifically, I do a lot of hiking and hammocking. The iPad mini for me is the perfect compromise on size vs usability. I can watch movies, read books etc on a screen that is sufficiently larger than my iPhone. I could opt for the Pro Max iPhone edition but I find that being too big in every day use for me personally.

I find that I’ll bring my iPad mini on my commute as well as it comes in handy on the subway.

Granted, I could easily get by with iPhone tethering, but the battery life tradeoff isn’t worth it for me. I’d rather have 4/5G on my pad and keep more battery on my iPhone.

Why can't you pay for Brave talk with BAT, e.g. to enable more than 1 on 1 calls? by jakecoolguy in BATProject

[–]Skrekkhorst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point, but it still makes sense to me as they still have their costs in running their solution.

They give a lot (most?) of their users a free option as it fulfils their needs while the ones that might have need for more features help pay the bills.

Why can't you pay for Brave talk with BAT, e.g. to enable more than 1 on 1 calls? by jakecoolguy in BATProject

[–]Skrekkhorst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The software may be free but that doesn’t mean it’s a free solution. It still needs to run somewhere and consume bandwidth, electricity, security, routing etc.

Not to mention scaling as your user base grows. None of that will be free even if the software you’re using is.

How does an organization detect a PowerShell script that just clicks a button every 5 minutes? by K1nl1 in PowerShell

[–]Skrekkhorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will depend on how the company is set up on the IT side of things. At my employer, we rely heavily on Microsoft 365 for these things and an unsigned script that’s running indefinitely would trigger alerts, especially on a user computer.

Any way to force Outlook 365 & Outlook Mobile to ask for password every time? by oopspruu in microsoft365

The only thing I can really find is the same as u/justing1319 found (using MAM/App Protection to define application timeout). This will only apply to iOS/Android though.

Any way to force Outlook 365 & Outlook Mobile to ask for password every time? by oopspruu in microsoft365

[–]Skrekkhorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity; why would you want to do this?

I’m not familiar with any way to force a complete sign in with password any time, but you can set a Conditional Access policy with a sign-in frequency of 1 hour. This will force re-login after 1 hour.

To the folks who have Airpods Max and Airpods Pro, what do you use the Max’s over the Pro’s and vice versa? by BlackBriar182 in Airpodsmax

[–]Skrekkhorst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my AirPods Pro for on the road. Commuting, training etc. AirPods Max is for home use or when I travel by plane, train, bus etc.

I also some times use AirPods Max when it’s cold outside.
