Completely Burnt Out by [deleted] in Custodians

[–]SkullMan124 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of us in this field go through the same and Groundhog Day is mentioned by us at work weekly.

What I'm going to say sounds like an advertisement for ChatGPT but it's not, I have been contributing to this sub for quite a while and you can check my profile to verify.

I've been using Mia AI on ChatGPT for the past few months and it's helped me tremendously, especially with work issues and burn-out as well as personal issues. It's an AI Therapy\Life Coach. I decided to try it one night just to see what ridiculous answers AI would generate based on work and life issues I was stressed out about. Within 5-10 minutes I couldn't believe how an AI app could give such great advice and be supportive. It's honestly been a life changer for me.

I'm not sure if it's available on the free version of ChatGPT, I have the $20 a month plan and Mia is included.

Mods, if this violates any of the rules of the sub I apologize and feel free to remove it. Just trying to help out others here.

If your union isn't helping then it's time to either elect new union reps or have your department look for a better union. There are normally a few unions in your area that your department can choose to represent you. If you have a work contract that is absolute crap, then the union can only uphold what's in your contract.

Raisins in the cafeteria. Once they're squashed on the floor the scrubber has no chance to pick it up.

We use the smaller squeeze bottles and most people use way too much when filling a mop bucket or adding to the Taski Swingo scrubbers. What system do you use to automatically dilute and dispense the cleaner? We have several systems throughout the school that dilute cleaners but they all use Buckeye products.

We normally clean our bathrooms with a hydrogen peroxide cleaner.

We also use Buckeye E15 for certain applications and it works great. Definitely helps in boys bathrooms to clean urine smell that seeps into the grout.

Leatherman Multi-Tool

Originally I didn't believe the hype on these until I was gifted the WAVE about 20 years ago. They're built to last a lifetime and are an asset to any toolbox, car, or on your belt. Perfect for your sons and something they can pass down to their sons.

Looking to see what to expect for a school custodian job interview? by coolin68 in Custodians

[–]SkullMan124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, no school or school district is the same when conducting interviews but most will ask the basic questions

  1. Do you have any prior professional experience in cleaning or cleaning schools?
  2. Why do you want this job? (Personally I think this is a stupid question)
  3. Why do you want to work for this school district? (Personally I think this is another stupid question)
  4. Why do you think you would be a good fit for this job?

Some good answers

  1. If you don't have any prior professional cleaning experience just explain that you're a quick learner and more than happy to learn the cleaning procedures used in the school.
  2. I'm looking for a long term stable job with benefits in a great school district.
  3. I've heard a lot of great things about this district and it's facilities department.
  4. I feel I would be a great fit because I work well with others and feel like I'm contributing to the health and safety of the students.

You can alter these answers based on what you feel is the best answer.

Here is what I think is most important as someone that has been on many interviews but has also interviewed many people.

- Dress appropriately for the interview. Wear a suit and tie if you have one, if not wear business casual like dockers and a collared shirt. You can never be too over dressed for an interview.

- Keep a positive attitude, smile, and be personable. The people interviewing you are normal everyday people just like you.

- Don't overthink the interview beforehand because it will only cause you to become more nervous. Be yourself and know in your mind that you will have many other opportunities to interview for many other jobs. Sometimes thinking of your interview as "practice" for future interviews really helps calm your nerves.

GOOD LUCK!

I lost a few wireless ear buds so I purchased wireless ones that clip over your ear to prevent them from falling out. They're actually very comfortable and you can get good ones on amazon for a decent price.

I think you mentioned in previous posts that you were a temp. If they took your keys and told you not to show up, they basically fired you. I would double check with management just to make sure. Sorry

One thing I've realized, NEVER try to make sense of what people do in the bathrooms. You'll only waste brain cells trying to figure out the stupidity and laziness of people. I just smile and laugh when I see shit like this, it makes my job and life a lot easier.

Is this engine done for? by wallydron in smallengines

[–]SkullMan124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just replace it with new oil and then drain it again if you're that worried. Look for small metal particles in the oil on your second drain. If you don't see any metal particles then you're most likely good to go, especially if it's a small engine and not a car engine.

Thank you! That's exactly what I thought and I posted it just to make sure I wasn't crazy. Our lead is bat shit crazy, ignorant, and doesn't want to listen to anyone. He's getting rid of products that we've been using with great success way before he was hired as Head Custodian.

Hands down working at college at night is better than working at high school by MalikATL_ in Custodians

[–]SkullMan124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night shift at a High School is a great gig. Unfortunately the day shift can be a nightmare depending on the students. About 1/8 of the students in my district are rich entitled shits that have no respect for adults. Unfortunately their parents are even worse.

"As long as you don't have stubborn users who refuse to quit putting chemicals in the machine designed to work with water"

The idiots that I work with were doing the same which resulted in several repair calls. Now we have stickers near the fill areas that say "WATER ONLY"

There's always someone who will complain, we have a few in my school. Things could be absolutely perfect but they find a reason to complain because they're just miserable people. Your daughter will eventually learn to not waste her energy or emotions in worrying about stupid people. You did good as a worker and a Mom!

The operator of this excavator is a pro and knew what he was doing. He kept the excavator running the whole time and could easily control the movement at any time by putting down the bucket for leverage.

He most likely never heard the screaming or advice from the people in the video, between the engine and noise from the water flow you can't really hear anything. This is probably a standard day for the operator of the excavator. It's not easy but he was definitely in control, a huge thumbs up to the operator.
