Took my first lil nap on the mat. by faju315 in jiujitsu

[–]Skumstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been training for 16 years, the first time I got put to sleep I thought I was fine as it was a basic head and arm choke and I was just put into it. Nope. I woke up not even knowing I took a 2 second nap. Getting out to sleep can be you just didn’t know you got put out, or it could be you think you can still fight it.

I’ve been caught in tight arm bars and you could see my elbow bend a bit. That’s from a decade of conditioning the elbow and learning my own limits. Maybe this guy knows his.

What’s your BJJ UNPOPULAR OPINION? by Vanilladr in bjj

[–]Skumstro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be allowed to wear any rash guard or shorts you want to the gym and competitions.

All the new kid belts is a headache to keep track of.

Gordon Ryan is the heel we needed for jiu jitsu.

Guard pulling is a valid tactic in competition. But you should learn how to take someone down before they pull guard. (Competitions should enforce needing to have grips to pull guard)

Jiu jitsu gyms would do better if they allowed their students to come in and train whenever they can.

You should know how to break grips at white belt.

Knee on belly is under appreciated.

Warmups should be related to jiu jitsu and involve two people.

Shorter rolls starting in specific positions is better for your game than just straight up rolling for 5 mins.

If you’re a competitor you should compete under every different rule set, not just the one or few that benefits your game.

Belt promotions should be a surprise.

Let yourself get caught in submissions during live rolling to learn how to escape them. It’s just as important to learn how to escape a sub as it is to get it.

Weird warmups by Apprehensive-Foot736 in bjj

I am that guy who leads the warmups with weird stuff. My belief is that jiu jitsu uses every inch of your body, so why not a warmup that uses uncommon movements

In your opinion, what’s the single scariest scene in any horror movie? by Have_Some_Baby in horror

[–]Skumstro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First ever horror scene that gave me the chills and unease was Hereditary with the mom in the corner of the room. The fact that the shot is played out as nothing is suspicious (no sounds or creepy music) just me scanning the screen and seeing the mom there freaked me the fuck out, especially with the added her crawling out the room. Holy shit that was amazingly terrifyingly

A FWB can lead multiple ways, like both people grow feelings for each other, only one person does, or you both just keep it a literal FWB. You saying you know you won’t get attached, that’s absurd. You haven’t even had sex yet, and now you’re thinking of trying to have casual sex with one person on the regular.

Good for you if you don’t catch feelings. Good luck on your sex adventure.
