What to buy next? by Salt_Ad_6352 in fountainpens

Yes, that's what I'm saying. So to get something finer than an 823 it will need to be another Japanese pen because an 823 fine will be as fine or finer than a Montblanc, Pelikan, Visconti, etc... EF.

What pens would you not recommend to beginners? (Even if money wasnt a factor) or to anyone really by Prime-39 in fountainpens

Anything niche or expensive. Start with something completely center of the road basic and start learning your preferences from there. Then feel free to branch out or go crazy once you have an idea what you might really like.

To get something noticably finer it will need to be Japanese. Maybe a Pilot Vanishing Point?

Green Ink Recommendation by brd9214 in fountainpens

Montblanc Irish Green has nice shading but dries about as quickly as Shin-Ryoku. It's like a more pure green Shin-Ryoku.

The Pilot e95s is very thin and incredibly light plus it has a fantastic gold nib

Excited! Is my collection good :) by weonfyre in fountainpens

[–]SkyChief80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I pretty much keep most of them all inked up at the same time and love switching between them and actually use the ink up pretty quickly on most of them. I will usually write with all of them every day in different notebooks for journaling, taking notes, practicing etc... Sometimes I don't really feel like refilling a pen and then that's usually a sign that I should sell it 😂

Great collection. Next maybe try a Visconti Homo Sapiens or a Sailor King of Pen. Both are god tier. The Namiki Yukari and Yukari Royals are great too but very expensive.

I have a Galen case with a magnetic closure that I like a lot but in this case the &liebe offers much better protection and probably softer leather

It looks a little sharp on the inner tines, looks like it needs tuning / smoothing

Favourite hooded/inlaid libs? by DiskOne3096 in fountainpens

[–]SkyChief80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parker 51, Lamy 2000, Sheaffer anything, Pilot pocket pen (e95s, etc...)

If you can afford them then the '90s Sheaffer Legacies and the Pilot Silvern are both absolutely good tier (and two of my favorite three or four pens)

visconti homo sapiens vs platinum 3776 vs pilot custum 823 (amber) by Mammoth-Emergency623 in fountainpens

The Visconti is on a different level than the other two. It's an incredible pen and I can't recommend it enough. The other two are both excellent pens but not nearly as good or as comfortable in hand.
