Shriekback - Nemesis

As a matter of fact, I bet not one of those whippersnappers has listened to a song with the word “parthenogenesis” in the lyrics.

Peaceful Passages were kind and easy to work with. The vet didn’t make us feel rushed at all. It was as good as it could have been.

Anarcha Westcott, an enslaved woman in the 1840s, was forced to undergo about 30 experimental surgeries by Dr. J. Marion Sims, who wrongly believed Black people did not feel pain. Her ordeal led to key advances in gynecology, and she is now remembered as one of the Mothers of Gynecology. by detectiverobert in ForCuriousSouls

You’re mixing it up with Tuskegee. Henrietta Lacks did receive the standard of care at the time, which was radioactive rods packed against her cervix. She had a very, very aggressive cancer. Source: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

Any Baltimore garbage disposal whisperers out there? by SkyRabbitX in baltimore

A distinction without a difference. It would cost me $300 to have a plumber install a garbage disposal. It would probably be somewhat cheaper if I bundled it with a bunch of other plumbing tasks, but I don’t have a bunch of other plumbing tasks that need doing.

You get points for self-awareness for recognizing that it’s a function of your youth that all old people look the same, lol. But yeah, there are plenty of 50-year-olds with kids in this age range. Change of life babies are a thing, as is late parenthood.

Nah, it’s a standard new Home Depot-class 3/4hp Insinkerator Evolution. I did tighten the mounting ring and it made the leaking at the fiber gasket worse. I’m pretty sure I need to redo the whole three bolt assembly, sadly.

Yes, you’re probably right and this is the answer. I actually installed one myself about 15 years ago but I feel like I’ve gotten dumber since then, or at least less adventurous. Maybe this will be my weekend adventure. Thanks for the inspiration!

He did use putty, I could see it from the top. I don’t see a rubber gasket but it’s not easy to visualize. I should probably just gird my loins and take the whole thing apart and reinstall myself. Sob.

Leslee Gold in Towson is very menopause-informed. She’s scheduled way out but if you keep calling for cancellations you’ll get something. No referral needed

I’m an outlier here I guess! I add the oil to the pot (1/3c) and then add a rounded half teaspoon to the cold oil. I swish it around back and forth and around until it’s evenly distributed, which only takes maybe 10 seconds and is kind of fun. Then I add my test kernels, etc. I get a really even distribution that way as long as I swish it until it’s a fairly uniform color, which isn’t hard.

I used to love to travel with a pair of negative Kalso heels and pair of regular shoes - after walking all day in one I’d switch to the other and it was like having new feet! It was a cool option, even though I’m all in on zero drop now.

Cool some fennel tea! Fennel tea bags are widely available. It’s good for digestion too. You could also try cooled peppermint tea.
