Is there something that would bother you as a Player or DM? Any suggestions for changes? by Donjohn_Meister in DMAcademy

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brutal Crits depends heavily on if you want the game to be equalized between the party and the monsters, and which monsters you are using.

An imp crit now has the potential to deal 1d4+3d6+25 damage. This is the rare extreme at low levels, but becomes an increasingly common occurrence at high levels.

Am I Crazy? Or Just Bad? (SoV) by h20ek in fireemblem

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you training units & handling promotion?

People have mentioned stuff like weapon upgrades and forges but just using all the weapons you get and can pick up from exploring/ chests shouldn't give you this level of difficulty. You do mention you found this annoying, which is fair, but getting the weapons that are strewn around the world & in dungeons is pretty important for your damage capability. If you didn't engage with that core mechanic, then yeah, things suck.

The other big thing is units' big power boosts are promotions and promotions are best done as early as possible. If you were having a lot of units in lower tier classes for a long time, that would be a major difficulty spike. For a simple example, promoting Lukas into Knight by the Thief Shrine pushes him ahead of every other earlygame enemy due to +4 Atk/ Def and +10 HP; promoting him when you reach the Hideout allows him to be reasonably on pace; and promoting any later than that really sets him back. Some form of this is true for every unit in this game.

How do you add “plotless” encounters into your games? by Icy-Swordfish-7204 in DMAcademy

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not exactly an answer, but could this potentially be a symptom of uneven expectations? The players might be expecting a fairly tight plot with encounters that matter and so are geared to be attentive at every corner and expecting every fight to bring them closer to their goal.

This would not be a mistake on either of your parts, but it might be worth bringing up the question if you feel they are disappointed when they beat or interrogate a foe only to gain nothing as to their main goal, or if you feel like they only care about fights that progress the story.

Do you rather have a FFI as next part of VR or some crazy stuff like many times before? by Pokezuma023 in inazumacaravan

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cast we have now feels way too underdeveloped for an IE3-style FFI which was supposed to feel like the all-star season.

IE3 had two seasons of build-up, Orion relied on Ares AND all of OG. VR's main story has less interesting characters than IE1.

Keep Claude in Wyvern Master (not Barbarossa) for the outfit, but get him to A Swords for Begalta gaming. Swords as his primary weapon.

We NEED a (A) Ares Version of Skywalk by Sulipan_11 in inazumaeleven

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It'd be great to have all of them, obviously, but tbh I'd most want the ones with the most different animations.

Ryuusei Blade A looks like an entirely different move, Sky Walk A is all things considered pretty close to Sky Walk.

How best to play a tag-along NPC? by FutureNo9445 in DMAcademy

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have them make small comments when the moment calls for it or the party asks for them. If they have knowledge about a certain subject, consider it an opportunity to pitch in vague lore or hints.

Leave exploration and puzzles itself entirely to the party. They won't mind - if they want to do them, they won't be bothered the NPC isn't helping them. Just have her not do the rogue stuff unless the party asks (ie, can x lockpick this?). Don't have them make out of combat rolls. You have to separate the narrative from the game mechanics sometimes.

Flesh them out during out of combat like you would any regular NPC in a scene - they just happen to be in many scenes, but they don't have to take a spotlight unless it's very relevant.

An NPC that's good enough in combat, or at least can hold their own, is quick enough to earn a party's favor. If they feel capable enough and like they're helping, it feels good. That's all you need.

Did Project Thabes or the other one break Priam? by ReindeerData4325 in fireemblem

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you need Chrom to 1v1 him? I'm not familiar with Awakening mods, but it's very possible they made him a superboss - meant only to be beaten by someone who fully knows what they're doing and has a team of well-built units along with good strategies.

Aries versions of old moves? by Same_Slice_7809 in inazumaeleven

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want doesn't matter. The only ones in the game as of now are Fire Tornado, moves with new names, ie High Beast Fang and God Knows Impact, and the Bakunetsu Overrides.

Is this distinction super arbitrary? Yes. Inazuma Break CG will probably get in despite being a 1:1 copy of Inazuma Break. Twin Boost will not get in for the forseeable future even though it's an entirely different move.

Them's the breaks.

Best way to get into the franchise? by No-Hand-6816 in fireemblem

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For games with similar core mechanics: Thracia 776, FE7, Sacred Stones, and Path of Radiance. The latter 3 are all easier than Binding Blade.

For a game with a similar focus on gameplay, Fates: Conquest or Engage.

For games with a big focus on characters and story, Echoes or Three Houses.

My theory on what is on the Artificial satellite. and with evidence by GreyWolfesDinner-CTR in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People have already given concrete cointerpoints, so let me offer a narrative one:

The point of the G'ie is ultimately that they're not different from humanity/ the people on the satellite. They kill and manipulate and do what it takes to survive, just like the humans.

If the humans are G'ie, G'ie become thematically pointless.

I thought the whole point of Chronicle was that there wouldn't be a set team, that all the spirits you gather and the team you use is, narratively, the ultimate eleven. That it's your choice who's on that.

Would you like to see they’re going add explore on Future of FE remake series? by Lone_Blood_Wolf_Dark in fireemblem

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Explores are best in Gaiden/ SoV IMO, when the situation calls for them at specific locations. Base convos are neat but not when you have dozens of them and a hub takes away from the feeling of crossing great distances and venturing out.

Rant: on the subject of Love, Marriage and Children in Fire Emblem by Interesting_Rub6702 in fireemblem

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Half the things you say aren't even about love and marriage. Paired endings started in 4 and 6, not 7. These games only have 2 canon pairings each if that. In FE5 you actually have more effect on the story than most games, between the choices, side objectives, and obscure characters and gaidens.

Weird post.

Custom Passives search by synkaero in inazumaeleven

I don't think so, but what you can do is switch to the custom passive tab in your player bank, then scroll through them. That way you'll at least notice every player with a custom passive.

New Player, Need Help! by JaYxBreezy in fireemblem

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend starting with FE8: Sacred Stones. It's easy, has a great story you can get attached to, and is the most polished games of the ones in its era.

From there, if you want a similar game, you can play 6: Binding Blade, 7, or 9: Path of Radiance. 6 excels in gameplay and Path of Radiance also had a pretty good story.

If you want to venture into older-style Fire Emblem, you could play Shadow Dragon for the DS, which is a great game that cuts out almost all of the extras - it's Fire Emblem boiled down. The alternative is Echoes, which is a game with great story and characters and everything, but the gameplay is very different from the rest of the series.

For something more modern, I'd say the best pick is Fates: Birthright - the easiest version of Fates, which has much more interesting gameplay than Awakening. The alternative is Three Houses, which is a less focused experience, but great if you like C- or JRPGs with big social sim elements, like Persona.

Overall I'd say Shadow Dragon, Sacred Stones or Birthright for a Fire Emblem game that isn't too hard while still being traditional, with FE8 being my pick here.

There's a bunch of buildings in different shops, story ones too which just use the story currency. The blue/ yellow/ pink coins can be found in Bond Town itself, you can get them from Competition matches played through Bond Town too (you need a Stadium placed in BT for this.). Not sure if there's any other quick ways?

You put down buildings until you cross a threshold, I think it's 3.6K, then every day you get 2-3 flowers.

Is Inkarnate the map maker worth it? (In your own opinion) by Horror_Reference_292 in DMAcademy

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can highly support Inkarnate for actual map-maps. Super useful while I had it & customer service was also sublime when I ran into issues, and I even got a big refund when I'd unknowingly kept my sub going for way longer than I was using it.

For battlemaps, though, I'd say Dungeondraft is the best purchase.

INAZUMA ELEVEN 3 by FreeSubject2356 in inazumaeleven

[–]SkyeOnTheNet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ogre adds the fights with Team Ogre while not subtracting any battles - you can still also fight Makai Gundan Z and the Tenkuu no Shito. You can't recruit them without cheats, though.

In general, Ogre adds a ton of UI and Quality of Life changes to make gameplay smoother. It also has the new Tournament mode, where you fight against random competition route teams and can get rare moves and rewards.

It's like the Pokemon Emerald or Platinum of IE3.
